L1 VISA Admin Processing
Hi,

Thanks for this site. It really helps for interview preparation.
I attended L1 interview last month. Interview Questions were as mentioned in this forum.
Consulate informed there is no problem in approving my VISA but my application needs to undergo administrative processing and gave me pink receipt with Reference No to check status of processing online. Currently my application status is shown as ‘ISSUED’. Could someone clarify what does this status mean..

Thank You.
AG Pune.

L1B Rejected.. :-(
Hi All,

I would like to share my experience as i visited this site hundreds of time and read experience of many candidates and that helped me indeed.

First of all... To Finance & Accounts guys.... This is not a cake walk to get US Visa in L1B Category.... You must have a luck also.

My Interview was scheduled at 10.00 AM and i was there at 8.45 and shocked to see huge gathering.. seems everyone want to leave India and try their luck at US. But don't worry people with 9.30 to 12.00 slots were also standing there.Security man sort out the people with different time slots and ease our life.

First few steps are for security reasons-
They will check your docs at outside the gate and stamped
Inside...Take token.. wait for your token.. At first window..again chk your docs... Second Window.. Match your Finger prints

Then finally at other building for VO interview.

At Visa Counter-

Me: Good Morning Ma'am
Lady reply Good Morning with no expression at her face.

She took my docs and open my DS 160 at computer screen (I believe)

a) Who is your Client
Answered.. but she was no aware of this client

b)Designation and salary
YYYY

c) What will you do there?
Answered in 2-3 lines

d) How your specialised knowledge help you in this project?
Answered in 2-3 lines

But she said I am not convinced.... open my petition and write something

I explained again 2-3 lines

But she said "I am not fully convinced with your answer.. Ask your HR to apply in other category"

I try to say something

But she was reluctant and said your interview is over.

I try to say something

But she said your interview is over now.

Key points:
Do home work.... Have Confidence
Take time to fill your DS-160..there is least chance they will see your petition
It seems Approval rate of L1A is greater than L1B
If you are going for L1B then try to get L2 along with for your wife n kid.. (Don't know...It seems who so ever are coming with their family are getting Visa approved)

Please note: Above are my view... Please check with others

All the best and Good Luck...

L1A Blanket Visa approved along with family (L2)
Hello All - I usually do not post reviews on site's but having used this site extensively learning from other's experience, I think it is only ethical and I'm duty bound to share my experience.

Our interview slot was for 8.30AM. We reached around 8AM and noticed that the line was pretty extended outside the consulate. Apparently people with 10.30 - 12.00PM slots were also standing in the line. I had with me my wife, my 5 yr old son and my 1.2 yr old son. So walked up to the gentleman regulating the crowd and explained my situation. He checked my appointment letter, DS160 and passports and then allowed us to proceed immediately instead fo standing in the Q.

I'm going to skip the passport document verification process. It is pretty standard. Please only ensure that you do your ten print scanning atleast 48 hours prior to your visa interview schedule. Also note that it was extremly sultry for me and my kids during this time. I was sweating real bad and the document checking waiting area only has fans and no air conditioning. You better carry hand kerchiefs for yourself and your related applicants.

At the visa counter - The officer greeted me and I greeted him back with a smile.

He took my documents and started asking me a few questions

a) Which firm do you work for?

Answered promptly - I work for Hewlett Packard.

b) What do you do in HP?

Finance Strategy and Transformation Manager. Explained how I help the management translate their organizational strategies into operational projects and programs that I manage on finance and tax transformation front. (quick 2-3 lines)

c) Who do you report to in US?

Chief of Staff

d) Which city is your work place?

Plano, Texas

e) US Salary - xxxxxx

f) Do you have the authority to hire and fire?

I do not directly but have the authority to recommend hiring. Final decision lies with management.

g) How many people report into you in US?

Stated - 9-12 or more at any given point in time depending on the project / size of transformation effort

h) How long do you intend to stay in US?

Said 3 years for now.

i) Have you travelled earlier to US on work visa?

Yes. When was this? Explained the years I travelled. Remember not to include your Business visa travel tenure in this.

j) Was it with HP?

I said No.

ki) To my older kid - How old are you, Do you like to go to school?

l) To my wife - Is he sleeping? The little one was on her sholder taking a nap.

He stamped and gave me back 2 copies the I-129S. Advised me to hold them carefully as I may need them at the immigration counter in US.

After this he said, your visas are approved. Thank you. I said thank you and have a great weekend.

My background - I hold a Masters degree in Finance, Bachelors degree in Commerce. Shoulder 9 years full time experience post qualification. Have travelled to US extensively before on B (strictly training and business meeting) and on H1B visa (not with the same firm) for work purpose. I do have a bit of an American accent though not too strong due to my travel and experience working in US over the last 8 years (would have made over 10 trips to US so far).

Please note that my experience shared here is purely my thoughts and does not in any way or form represent Hewlett Packard or its subsidiaries anywhere across the globe.

Hope this helps folks like how the others posts helped me. Remember, the key is the be pleasing, presentable and have great communication skills. Be sure of what you are answering and do not try to build stories. Good luck and god bless.
