To Need Help, Mumbai
Hi,
For your individual visa, if VO kept your passport, then asked for additional documentation. After that if you submitted all additional documents, and if you get blue slip means, the passport is under admin processing(only if he kept your passport). Admin processing normally takes 3-6 weeks to get passport. There are 100% chances they will stamp your visa before delivering it.

L1-B Approved
I appeared for visa interview on 6th April at Kolkata location. My visa got Approved. My interview time was 9:15AM ,I reach there by 7 itself. It was first come first serve. After completing the document submission formality my name announce for visa interview. It went for 10 min I guess. Below are the question ask by VO.

VO:Good Morning
Candidate: Good Morning Sir
VO:How long you are with this company
Candidate:4year 9 month
VO:ok 4 year
Candidate:4 year 9 month Sir
VO:He show me my L1-B and asked that this is L1B ,you know this is for specialized skills .What specialization you have corresponding to the TIAA_CREF(Client Name)
Candidate: Being here in XYZ for 4.9 year mostly I work for Annuity. That’s my client main business as from name u know Teacher insurance annuity Association and I know the CTS process very well i.e. C2.0 and etracker.I use this in all my project.
VO: Why you from your team. What the team size.
Candidate: My client business is growing so our project is .It started from 3 right now total 7 at offshore ,1 at onsite. So client want more people to work from onsite who have business knowledge as well as hands on knowledge on application.
VO:who is there at onsite.
Candidate: Rakesh
VO:what he do? Is he technical or manager?
Candidate: Technical.
VO:So are u going to replace Rakesh.
Candidate: No ,As I told you earlier client want more people there at onsite who have business knowledge as well as hands-on knowledge on application.
VO: Why u?
Candidate: I am in this project from very first day .I know the business very well .I know XYZ process .
VO: why not other 2 people who joined with you ?
Candidate: they know technology but they don’t know business and XYZ process because when the project stated that time they are ELT. Right now they have only 2 year of experience.
VO: You have also 2 year of experience in project why u then?
Candidate: I have 2 year of experience in this project. But before this I was working for AXA and for same business i.e. Annuity. Initial 2 year is good to learn technology. But once u are good in that than only u are supposed to move to Domain and XYZ process. Because in project only Sr resource are looking for process.
VO:SO you think that people with 2 year of experience can’t go to onsite.
Candidate: Yes.
VO: what’s your highest degree and which university.
Candidate: Master in Computer Application and from NIT ALLAHABAD .Its comes under top 10 Engg college.
VO: Congrates your visa has been approved.
Candidate: Thank you Sir.

From my interview experience what I feel is they try to confuse me, they are asking some question so that candidate will contradict his/her statement. Never tell replacement . Because if you than anybody. Try to tell about client business like once this project done it help 20k people annually .It will add 400k$ revenue per quarter to client portfolio. So that it sound authenticate. They don’t understand technical but this data make things real. Those who have less experience in current company they can tell they work on same domain in there earlier organization. More number of year of experience with client is good. And read immihelp it help .Ask somebody to take your interview. Prepare yourself in front of mirror.

But above all its God verdict which come from VO mouth.

L1B Visa Experience
Hi friends,

I would like to share my L1B visa experience with you. I had my interview at Hyderabad Consulate on 13th April at 8:00 AM and happy to tell you all that my Visa has been approved.

It was preferable to reach Visa office 30 minutes early. I reached at 7:20AM but the security people allowed me to enter inside after 7:45AM only because usually interview process will start after 8AM only. Remember that the whole process will take 2 hours.

As soon as you entered inside, first you need to complete initial prescreening, then you need to submit the DD’s at the cash counter. After that, you will be directed to finger print division. Once your finger prints are captured, you need to go to interview waiting lobby and wait for your turn. For me, as soon as i entered the lobby, they sent me for an interview.

At the interview counter, there is no big queue. They told me that only 2 people will wait at a time. I waited there for around 7-10mins and finally its my turn to give an interview. VO asked me the following questions:

1.Where are you working now?
2.How long have you been working with this current employer?
3.In which project you are working?
4.What this project is all about?
5.What is the purpose of your visit?

Then he signed on my I129 papers. On his copy, he wrote as Approved. Then he asked me “Why you only have been selected from your project?”

And that’s it. VO told me that my visa has been approved and I will get my passport within 1 week time.

Few things which I want to tell you guys is be confident on your answers and maintain good eye contact with the VO. Remember that your answers should be as per your documents and at any cost, don’t confuse the VO. If you didn’t understood VO’s question, there is no wrong in asking them to repeat. Don’t give irrelevant and lengthy answers.

There are some myths that people who have good experience and communication skills only will get their visas approved. That is completely wrong. I have only 1.5 years of experience. Mainly they will see how confident you are.
So guys and gals, be cool and confident. You will get your fruit. All the best.

L1 Blanket approved in HYD
First of all thanks everyone for posting and keeping this forum updated.

My interview was at 8:45 on 15 April 2011 at HYD US consulate office. So I reached US Embassy office at 7:00. Offices opened at 7:30 and they asked us to stand in a queue outside the premises. Then the security guard on the gate checked my passport and appointment letter and asked me to stand in Q1 (which is the queue for BEP). Then at the BEP counter there was one lady who was checking our forms I797 & I129. Please verify if she has your forms only otherwise she will replace with your copies. Please keep atleast 4 copies of those forms. Also people who have spectacles, carry a photo without specs also . Then she asked me to proceed for security check. Ladies please don't carry cosmetics, bare minimum metal things,cluthers,buckles..Try to carry only documents, never carry mobile phones with u. They dont have cloak room there and they will ask u to keep it outside the premises just like that..And if they ask u to keep something outsde while the security check then dont go ..otherwise u need to follow all the queues again..Then they asked me to proceed to window 2 which is the cashier counter, there i deposited the dd i have..If the BEP counter lady have asked u to get a new photo, then after the cashier window there is one photographer, u can get your photo clicked there...Don't panic if your interview time is over just be calm and follow the process. Then they asked me to proceed to window 8. Where i stood in a queue for some time then they took my finger prints there and asked me to proceed to the waiting area to get the token for my interview turn. There the lady was not there to give the token. Then she came and gave me the token. Mine was the first number , so rushed to the window where on lcd my token number was displayed..never miss your number otherwise your number will be called in the end..So be prompt and hear your call properly. Then on the interview counter, i greeted the interviewer and greeted me back..then he asked me for the forms, passport and started checking them, then asked me the questions:
1. How long have u been in this company.
2. Who is your client.
3. What is your specialization.
4. Are you going for thr first time outside INDIA.
5. Are you excited.

Then he said the golden words, "Maa'm your visa is approved , you will get the passport in a week's time".

Check the validity on the form which he will give you.
Try to carry minimum things with you except your documnets. And never carry mobile phones.

L1-A Blanket Approved at Hyd consulate
Went for my L1A blanket and my wife and kids' L2.
As my younger one is just 4 months old we were given priority and did not have to stand in any queue.

Just 3 questions
1. What is your salary?
2. How many will report to you?
3. Will you have hire and fire powers?
As our baby got cranky and wass crying at the top of her voice...my wife was asked to sit in the lounge and was not asked any question.
Just one perosnal question (which otherwise is typically to the wife)
1.When did u get married?

Tips:
Keep cool and answer confidently. The VO was very cordial and also apologized for the time taken for the interview and keep my baby crying.

L1B- Blanket Rejected
My L1B - Blanket was rejected and given 221g form. Was asked only 2 questions. It seemed it was decided before hand that the VO wanted to reject it. Did not let me explain my specialisations. I am from IBM and my pay package is below 5L. So maybe that is also an issue
