BL1-Interview
Hi,

First of all I would like to thank all the people who have posted their experiences due to which I was able to prepare well for the interview.
I had my appointment fixed on 25th september at 9:30 AM. I was bit late and reached the spot late by 15 mins.(Better to be as early as possible). I had to wait in the queue for about half an hour for the initial security check. Then had to wait to get my folder back for another half an hour. Then again joined the queue for the finger print. Finally my turn came. The VO was a lady.

VO : Hi Goodmorning. How r u doing today?
Me: Good thanks. How about you?
VO: How long you have been working for the ...company?
Me: ...Months
VO: Who is your client?
Me: ....
VO: Why do u want to go to US?
Me: To work on the ....project(brief explanation on the project)

Finally words from VO: ur Visa is approved.

All you need to have smile on the face and confidence.

Thanks,
Sankirtana

Travel on L1
Hi All,
I appeared for my L1 visa interview along with my wife and son as dependants (L2) on 29th Aug-2007. The interview was short, she asked me the regular questions, which I answered honestly and satisfactorily. She also asked a few questions to my wife and sonThe visa officer after the interview told that she could grant me and my son the visa, but my wife's case would need some further 'administrative processing'. She handed over a yellow sheet marked as above. I understood later that there is a name clash it would take some time.
I had heard that generally when you appear for the interview along with family, there are not many hurdles like these and the visa is granted to all at once.
Can anybody tell me how much time this take from here on, as it has already been over 1 month now?
Because of all this, I had to travel alone to US because of work pressures.
Looking for some convincing response about the shortest/longest times taken in such cases.
Ajay

VISA APPROVED: L1-B Blanket
Its cooooooool guys.
I had my PA fixed on 26th of Sep 2007 at 13.30 in Chennai consulate for L1-B Blanket. I reached the consulate as usual like others just an hour before. After seeing such a long queue I got a bit scared and confused whether I can appear my VISA interview in time or not. The gentle men who were standing in a queue for their turn were of different batches (e.g.12.30 batch, 12.45 batch, 13.00 batch…). Many questions were running in my mind. And finally I asked one security person when I can go for my PA. He said just wait in the queue, your turn will come. DO REMEMBER WHILE COMING FOR PA DO NOT BRING YOUR LUGGAGES EVEN IF IT’S A SMALL BAG, ELECTRONICS GOODS LIKE MOBILE AND ALL. BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE THESE STUFFS INSIDE THE CONSULATE OFFICE. BRING THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN A FOLDER (BETTER IF THE FOLDER IS A TRANSPARENT ONE). AVOID TAKING UNNECESSARY DOCUMENTS WHICH ARE NOT RELATED.
Waiting in a queue for 30 to 40 minutes I was allowed to enter inside the consulate office after verifying the passport and invitation letter by security person. After that I was asked to submit my necessary documents including DS 156 and DS 157. After the submission I waited for finger printing, and then the finger printing is over. Up to this, the process took me around 2 and half an hour’s to 3 hours. Then finally I waited for PA in queue for an about 1 hour. Of course the whole process is quite tiresome but do not lose your patient and wait until your turn come. Do not worries the total process will be guided by consulate officials.
Finally my turn came for Personal Appearance (with the VISA Officer – For me the VISA Officer was a lady). Now the real story begins…

Before I reached the counter the VO greeted me
VO: Hello Sir, how are u?
Me: Hello, I am fine.
VO: Since how long you are working for TCS?
Me: (Since so many noises were there, I could not able to hear the words properly). Pardon
VO: Since how long you are with Tata Consultancy Services?
Me: 2 yrs. and 10 months
VO: Who is your client?
Me: Pennsylvania Department of Education.
VO: What is your project?
Me: ePDE and PlanConn Project. And then I started briefing about the project.
VO: What’s your specialization?
Me: I have done my BE in Computer Sc. and Engg. And currently working in Microsoft .NET technology.
VO: What are the special tools you are working with?
Me: In application point of view I started explaining about the special tools which I am going to use in the development.
VO: Since how long you are in this project?
Me: 7 months.

And finally the golden word from VO – “We will courier your passport, your VISA is approved”.

Now its your turn, you can do it. Have patient, keep eye contact with VO, answer the questions confidently and VISA IS YOURS. ALL THE BEST GUYS!!!

L1B interview
Hi,
My L1B PA was yesterday at 11:30. We are first checked at the entry hall for mobiles or any metalling articles and enter the pre screnning hall. There are VFS persons who are around to guide us after quickly checking that our papers are complete. They guide us to the respective counter for pre screening.
While I was in by 10:45, the pre screening/ verification of docs takes around 1 + hours( for L1B we have a DD which has to be acknowledged which takes time) followed by finder printing which takes half an hour as there would be a queue there as well and the actual interview. I gave my papers for screening by 11:15 and did not get it back till about 12:30. They asked us to go ahead to the next building to the interview hall and wait . But finger printing happens only after we get the teal folder back. So it is a good idea to be an hour or more early for the interview so that all the pre interview process will be done before the actual interview time.
The interview as such was quite simple. Following are the questions I faced:
1) How long have you been with --- company?
2) Who is the client?
3) How long have you been with this Client?
4) What is your current project?
5) What technology?
6) How many persons will be involved in the project that you will go for?

Post this she(VO) told me the papers would be couriered shortly.

I had no questions on the specilization but it is good to be prepared about the same. The wait time between stages is the only tussle we might face. The process is quite streamlined and a tip for the interview is to listen carefully and speak slowly and clearly. A good news yesterday was that all the while yesterday between 12:00 and 2:00 there was not a single rejection(atleast at the two H1/L1 counters I could see)!

Hi,

Would like to share my experience of L1 -B visa interview.

My interview scheduled at 1:30pm, reached Consulate by 1 PM, waited there till 1:15pm and entered inside the Consulate.

Here I can say one thing, once you reach consulate, ask the security people to allow to go inside, May be they will allow you 45 mins before the scheduled time.

As per the policies we have to be there 15 mins before the scheduled time.

Once you enter inside the consulate,

First, you will be having pre-screening, for L1-B, you will be getting the submitted documents after 20-30 mins, and other than L1-B may be you will be getting all the documents at Pre-screening counter itself.

Once the prescreening is done, have to go to the second building, there we need to wait for some time and will be called to give our Finger prints. (Note: L1-B, will get all the documents what you submit at Prescreening counter).

Once the Finger prints done, will be asked for Visa interview.

Keep in mind that,

 1) Be confident
 2) Maintain eye contact
 3) Listen what VO is saying or asking.
 4) Smiley face.

My interview was,

Me: Wished, Hello and Good afternoon.
VO: No reply
VO: How long has been working for ABC company
Me: X years
VO: What is tenure of the project
Me: X.Y years.
VO: What is specialized knowledge
Me: Be prepare for this w.r.t your project
VO: What is the Role in this project:
Me: So and So....
VO: Have developed any product
Me: If yes, say yes / If no say no (Dont give any false information).
VO: Said good news
Me: Thanks
VO: You are welcome.

This site is very helpful.

Be confident and the Visa is yours.

All the Best.

Thanks
Ramakrishna
