L1A Experiences - Blanket and Individual
Hi All,

Wanted to share my experience with consulate in Chennai.

Blanket Visa Interview: 25th March 19, -- Rejected
Individual Visa Interview: 13th Jun 19, -- Approved

Blanket Visa Questions:
- you designation in US?
- your compensation in US?
- how long you have been working in current company?
- how many direct and indirect reports you are going to have - i said no indirect reports
- what are the designation of direct reports you will have?
- I know you don’t have any indirect reports, but are going to have/work some? –
- Why do u want to go to US?
- whom do you report to?
- what is his designation?
Thats it, she said its not clearly approvable. and gave us the slip to give that to HR.

Individual Visa Questions:
- Will you work at the petitioners location or client location?
- What is your salary in US?
- What will be your designation in US?
To my Wife:
- How many children do you have ma'am?

That's it, and she approved the visa. The lady was very nice, she was greeting the elderly people before us also very nicely.

L1A Experience
Hi All -

Thanks to the forum who have shared their experiences. They were very helpful for preparation.

I had my L1A blanket interview scheduled in Chennai today. Fortunately, it was approved.

Giving back to this community by sharing the questions asked :

1. Do you work at XYZ?
2. What is your designation there ?
3. What do you do, what is your role?
4. How many direct reportees in the US, how many indirect ?
5. Who will you report to? And who does he report to?
6. Where will you be travelling to?

Done. Visa is approved.

Other callouts:
1. Its a long wait and lengthy process. Took me over 2 hrs
2. Reach on time - not too early
3. Pre arrange documents in the order as mentioned in your appointment letter

Thanks and best of luck to everyone.

Finally my day has arrived. L1 B approved.
This site is awesome with beautiful tips to crack the interview.

My experience:

Things asked who - petitioner , job title , specialization , salary in us, state visiting ,and purpose.

That's it. It was approved.

I'm only with 2 years with the company sponsored me. Over all 5.5

My suggestions and hoping it will work for this category of visa:

Work on framing simple and understandable words about your proprietary stuff of the company.

What your application or product or project does.

Go with a good sal more than 95 K .

Be confident in what you speak. Don't get nervous . Then you will be on same page like me :)

L1 Blanket Visa - Incorrectly circled on L1B instead of L1 A
Hi All,
Looking for some insights from the experiences of this group.

I had my L1-A Blanket visa interview last week which went successful. All my documentation, petition & supporting letter were also for L1-A.
It was a short interview at the end of which the consular said "everything is approved" & stamped my I-129S petition copies.
However, after exiting, I realized that she has circled L1-B instead of L1-A on my petition stamp.
I immediately sent email to consulate support & received acknowledgement of the same. A case was registered & provided to me.
After, 2 days I received my passport with L1- blanket visa however the case status shows "On-Hold" & I have not received any answer/clarity on my visa category.

If anyone of you has similar experience or guidance on how should I approach this scenario, kindly suggest.

I need to make travel arrangements for my date of joining however currently perplexed about visa category & its impact.

L1A individual approved
First of all, thanks a lot to this forum to help me in preparing for my visa processing/stamping/interview. I have been following the tweets from all of you and it really helped a lot.

Had been to Chennai consulate for my L1A(Individual) stamping and got it approved 2 days back.

My slot was at 1030AM and reached around 1010AM. Took around 30 min to enter inside the office. All process, including the consular interview got over by 1130 AM.

After the greeting, he asked for my passports and i797 original petition.

Questions asked to me :
1. How long have you been working in the current company?
2. Which location are you travelling?
3. Will you be working out of you office or client office?
4. What is your US salary?
5. How long are you planning to stay in US?

No questions asked to dependents(wife and 2 kids).

And the officer approved the visa. Though was well prepared, but was not expecting it to be short.

Small tips :
1. Be confident of what you speak
2. Be fluent in communication
3. Answer only what is required.

Best of luck !

L-1 visa - spouse had visa Cancelled Without Prejudice previously
Hi there! I was wondering if someone could help.

I'm a UK citizen and my company is seeking to open an office in the US, I would then transfer over under the L-1 visa. I will marry my girlfriend (Turkish citizen) ahead of this so she could come with me.

Firstly though I need to figure out if there could be an issue with her application. She previously lived in the US, studying at a university in NYC for around 4 years with a valid student visa. Unfortunately at one point she re-entered into the US using her tourist rather than student visa, on leaving 6 months later she was then informed at airport that she had overstayed her tourist visa (despite explaining she had a valid student visa) and had her US visas Cancelled Without Prejudice.

This was now 2.5 years ago and since then she's been living and working in the UK. My question is whether having her visa cancelled previously would be an issue for her in this new application?

Thanks so much!
