Is it a good idea to apply for OCI in India?
Hi,
As my son is two months old, I want to send my wife and son with my parents who are leaving in January 1st week.
My son already received USA passport.
Could you let me know which is the good idea whether to apply for OCI in USA or in India.
If I apply in USA, I cant send my wife and son with my parents and they have to wait for me to drop them in India. Could you let me know how difficult it is to apply for OCI in India than USA.
My H1 visa has 10 months validity still.

OCI Status - Pending - Atlanta
I submitted my application on August 29, 2018 and it was acknowledged on Sept. 5th. To date, there has been no update to status and CKGS won't respond with a status. When I call their "phone number", it says there is no status of the application. Does anyone have any specific contact I can reach out to? I'm trying to get to India for a family member's surgery.

Renunication process taking longer
I had applied for renunciation by mail via CKGS in Sep 2018 to the SF India consulate. I got the receipt with the acknowledgement dated Sep 24th. The status on tracker from CKGS says "under processing in the embassy", now for more than a month. Is it common for it take this long? Calling CKGS at the help desk line routes it to the automated status reader and when navigating to the customer support, the phone line gets disconnected. So I am left with no idea of when I may get the surrender certificate :(.

I don't believe it has been dispatched to the embassy in SFO yet. Does anyone know how much longer it generally takes before CKGS sends out the OCI? I am seeking responses from those who have gone through CKGS at SFO since the timelines seem to vary so much based on which jurisdiction we come under.

Oct 16 I received the original passport.
At this time waiting for OCI card. No updates on CKGS website after Oct 16th. I know NY takes shorter processing time than any other application center. Has anyone gone through this process under NY center?
