OCI Not Received after long follow up
I need urgent help here. I have been trying to get OCI and US Passport of my kid from CKGS and CGI since long time.
I had started OCI process mid of 20th March 2015 because I wanted to visit India in August - 2015. I am continuously tracking application status and it still showing ready for match up as dated 05/26/2015.
US passport was sent and delivered to Houston center on 06/05/2015. USPS Tracking Number: 9505511020785153487646
On website, processing time shows that it would take 2 weeks for match up and US passport and OCI card would be sent back. I still not hear anything regarding dispatch of US passport and OCI card.
Could anyone please let me know how much time it would take for delivery of all the documents?
My travel date is 14th Aug 2015. And I believe CKGS and CGI will help me here and nothing will be messed up.

OCI Experience
I got my dauthter's OCI in 3 months + 2 days from the date of acknowledgement.
What I learnt during the process :
Wait for at least 40 days after your documents reached to New delhi for process.
Wait for at least 3 weeks to reach the OCI card to consulate.
Don't wait for the CKGS email after your documents reached to consulate. send your passport with the government site status print out .
after you sent the passport, it will take 10 days time to get the passport and OCI in hand
What I learnt during the process :

Good Things- CKGS states it takes 2 months and in my case they delayed just slightly by week
CKGS Helpline is quite good and they help you in completing documentation as and when required
Bad Things-CKGS does not keep its website status updated and therefore you have to visit govt of India website (gods grace that is updated regularly)
Documentation checklist for CKGS is huge and they discard/return documents when you submit application (waste of time and money for assembling so many docs)
Transit time to consulate takes much longer
Helpline staff is good but due to lack of information the just try to avoid risk by giving you timeline which does not makes sense..for example one of them stated that match up process takes 4-6 weeks...
But overall OCI experience was good considering that you are dealing with Government of India

OCI reissue for minors with one Pakistani origin parent
My husband and I are US Citizens. I am of Indian origin and he is of Pakistani origin. Based on eligibilty rules in 2010, I was able to get my kids OCI cards, being that only 1 parent needed to be eligible and no restrictions if other parent was of Pakistani orgin.
Today's rules don't make my kids eligible because their father was born in Pakistan.
My dilemma is that I am supposed to send their current passports to reissue the OCI visa on it.
Is anyone in the same situation as me?
Was the OCI reissued on new passport or cancelled because of current eligibility rules?

Applying OCI and Tourist visa together
I'm planning to go to india for 6 months. I'm thinking of applying both OCI and tourist visa together - incase OCI gets delayed i can use the tourist visa?
Also how long can i put the matchup process on hold.. If OCI card is sent to DC consulate when I'm in india - i will not be able to send the passport.. Can i come back from india after 6 months and then send the passport?
How does it work..

PIO Conversion to OCI card
I applied for the conversion and sent all documents as per checklist.
They are asking constantly for more documents over and above the required list.
They even want a copy of my wife's Indian Passport with parents details. No adult
passport has parents details. My wife's passport goes back to 1972. Yesterday I
got this demand:
MISSING A NOTARY STATEMENT FOR CONTINIUATION FOR OCI FROM FORIEGNER APPLY FROM SPOUSE, STATING THAT APPLICANT IS ACKNOWLEGE THE PROCESS MAY TAKING LONGER THAN NORMAL TURN AROUND TIME, NO GURARANTEE AND NOT REFUNDABLE OF PAYMENT. IF APPLICANT INSISTS TO CONTINUE WITH THE PROCESS, SIGNED AGREEMENT MUST STATMENT MUST BE PROVIDED
I am sorry, but this is not English and I have no idea as to what they are talking about.
I phoned the SF office, they don't know. Judging by the last sentence, they want me
to drop the application. They got their wish. After that experience, they can keep their
Bharat!

Here are my details for applying for my son's OCI in lieu of PIO:
Application submitted: 5/28/15
Received notification that it is granted: 7/13/15
Received notification that it is printed and being sent to USA: 7/14/15
I have my son's India flight booked for exactly two weeks from today (7/28/15). I am very anxious and worried as he had a valid PIO card and I started this whole process that may affect his travel if we don't get the OCI in time. My question is:
As his OCI is dispatched from India, how long it usually takes from there to arrive in Washington DC (Embassy/CKGS)? I read somewhere it takes around 15 days but how long does it realistically take?
Also, in the worst scenario, could there be a possibility that I can go to the Indian Embassy and pick up his original PIO card (that is still valid) to use for his travel (I was told that the PIO card is kept in the Embassy)?
Also, I found on NY Indian Consulate site (http://www.indiacgny.org/pages.php?id=851) that they also have emergency matchup process to submit the passport directly in the Consulate itself in case of flight date within a week. Is something similar to this available for Washington DC Embassy?
