New OCI Adult took 42 days total from Houston location. Applied directly in person at Houston location by scheduling the appointment online.
01 OCT 21: applied in person same day got text Application has been processed at the VFS center.

13 NOV 21:Received OCI, Fedex delivered
Process seems quicker by going to the VFS center. I saw many posted that it took more than 50 days. I had no issues with my application everything was in order.

Overall, the process was smooth. Like others had observed, SF seems to have a longer delay than other locations in sending the application to the consulate and in receiving the card after being dispatched from MEA.
I called VFS on Nov 8 to enquire why there were no updates after dispatch. The agent told me that I should be receiving it within a week's time. Lo and behold, it was shipped the next day....perhaps a coincidence.

Oci experience at toronto consulate through BLS Brampton
Heey,
i saw that experiences from canada were barely shared here.so here is mine.
- I first send my application on 26 AUG 21 and that was sent back for : CANADIAN ADDRESS PROOF. i sent internet bill as suggested by BLS agent.
And SELF DECLARATION FORM for change of apparence.
- I made all corrections and re sent my application on 17 sept 21 but AGAIN, that was sent back for DIFFERENCE IN PLACE OF BIRTH. my place of birth was written in french on my french passport and was not same as in indian passport. But as written in their checklist, i had attached a AFFIDAVIT signed with a commissionner of oath explaning that. and the letter was there in the first application too so why they didn't mention that in the first sent back ???
I then decide to do the escalation form on the bls site. 3 step to do. BLS didn't response favorably in the first 2 step. the third step was a mail process to indian consulate of toronto. they then response me in approximately 2 weeks. They checked the file and found that in order. Sent me a mail of approbation to join with my application and send again. done that and the problem resoveled. so if someone got trouble with BLS, do the escalation process. complain on TWITTER, *** and Google page. that works for me.

A second OCI card received without asking
I received my new (Adult) OCI card in May 2021. Last week (early November 2021), without any input from me, I received another OCI card in my name. This card had a different OCI number printed on it. My old OCI card number was handwritten on the first page in the new card booklet in ink.
There was no other paperwork included.
I am very confused. I did not ask for a new OCI card. My card did not have to be renewed. Why did a get a new OCI card? Anyone else had a similar experience?
(I applied in May 2021 in the Washington DC consulate through VFS, got the card pretty quickly in June. I have not been to the VFS or OCI gov website since then.)
There was no other paperwork included.

OCI Card with First Name Unknown issue
I applied for OCI card at NYC recently and they told me they cannot print my OCI card with first name as 'Unknown'. I had single name in Indian passport and then got my GC with 'Unknown' as First Name and 'Given Name' as Last Name. And US passport mentioned the same.
Now NYC is asking me to get my name corrected on US passport in order to get the OCI printed with the corrected name. Anyone been through this situation?
I did not change my name and USCIS accepted my First name as Last name, but Indian embassy doesn't want to.
I really do not want to go through the hassle of getting the name changed in US passport now. Is there an alternate way to deal with this?
