Query on the application status
I applied for OCI in May based on my spouse who is an Indian. Because I did not get any notification for long I emailed the Indian mission about the status querying about it. One person noted that MHA rejected my application and there were no reasons why they rejected it. I checked the status online and it notes that the application was submitted in July and it is under process.. I am not sure what to do? Do any one have such experience and what did you guys do to sort it out

Jul 13th 2021- received text and email "your application is received. You will received an update once it is processed at VFS. avg processing time at Mission is 4-6 weeks except for Tatkal cases.
July 14th 2021-Received text and email "your application has been processed at the VFS center and is submitted to the mission for decision making."
July 14th 2021- VFS status online "you application has reached at the embassy/consulate and is currently under review process."
July 15th 2021-Govt. of India online status "under process" (Date of Acknowledgment)
Aug 4th 2021- Gov. of India online status "processed"
Aug 4th 2021- Gov. of India online status “Documents Printing Status, Dispatched from MEA (OCI) Document received At Atlanta.”
Aug 5th 2021- received text and email from VFS “you application has been reviewed by the Embassy of India/ Consulate General of India &will be dispatched using the courier service you had opted.”

Total time ONLY 24 DAYS, now that’s called an outstanding service and HUGH improvement. Great job VFS!!
With effect from 12 April 2021, new OCI card applicants are not required to submit their original US passport along with their applications.

Minor OCI Renewal - Process Update
Does anyone have updated information on the new process of uploading the documents on to the OCI gov website for OCI Renewals for Child?
It looks like they have taken that notice down, it used to say that new process to upload passport and photo copy uploaded will be available on 15 July 2021. But i did not see any such changes to Miscellaneous section of the OCI Govt site.

July 9, 2021: Printed, Sent by MEA, Received at DC Embassy
July 16, 2021: Received via FedEx
Total 38 days. Except for the initial acknowledgement via email, VFS sent no other communication. GoI Embassy tracking page was more informative as compared to VFS's tracking page.
No need to send either the (cancelled) Indian passport or the US passport with your application. Also, payment via AmEx creates issues on VFS website; best to use Visa or MasterCard.
