OCI APPLIED THROUGH CKGS AND STUCK IN SFO
Anyone received the below email? I sent the shipping label details in the email as requested and received no further update. Anyone with a similar experience, how did you move forward. The card shows its processed and ready for displatch in SFO. (I had already sent the shipping label when sending the documents originally)

Excellent Experince OCI card Renewal Nov.2020 with VFS Global and Chicago Cosulate, USA
I had a very nice experience while filing for the OCI Renewal Document. VFS.Global is very effecient! Thanks to the Indian Consulate of Chicago for all the help provided.
Website explains everything but I struggeled while uploading my documents.
1.Please keep file sizes way below than 500kb.You don't need to self attest anything here. I use Camscanner App since its hard to upload the regular scanned documents.
2.You need a passport photograph ( I used Costco).
You need to use the same photo for your online form plus send it with your completed form later. Do not Stapel . Just use a paper clip. You need only 1 photo only (but I sent 3. They have returned my photos)
3.Everythng else is pretty much explained in the check list.
4. I sent following :
1....Online printed form( Part A and Part B)/Government Application Online Form ( singned one)
2....photographs -2
3....A receipt of your payment.( used Fedex provided by the VFS.Global)/ Aplication Confirmation Letter.
4....A proof of Address- Driving license
5....Check list, please complete Applicant'sname, email ID, Passport no. and Mobile no. on all the pages. It costed me $73.90 ( Fedex 30+ consulate fee25+ICWF fee3+ VFS service Fee 15.90)
6....Your current Passport photo page plus Endorsement pages.( please google)
7....OCI Card - Original and a copy
8....Affidavit in lieu of Originals ( I used my Bank Manager as a Notary)- This you can print from the Document check list itself from the website.
I printed this and took it to the Notory with following
a.Proof of Address- Driving Liscence
b. Photocopy of Current Passport- Original Passport
c. OCI document Front and Back on the same page - OCI Document
d. Marriage Certificate/ Divorce Certificate/Death Certificate - please take original of whatever you need.
You need to self attest these documents by saying , this is a true document, your initial and date.
Notary did not need to notorized any only he/she needs to sign and Notorized the Affidavit.
Other than the OCI document . don't send any original to them and that's why they need tha Affidavit.
Go through the checklist and use the printed FEDEX label . Include another envelope plus label ( coming back to your address) with the documents.
I had submitted my apllication on the 18th Nov.2020
My OCI Document was approved on the 27th Nov.2020
You keep getting all the updates via email plus texts. Please provide your number. Online updates are not accurate. You get your renewed OCI document plus your old OCI document attached together nicely by using rubber bands. We need to carry both these plus your current passport and the U-visa old passport when travel looks like.
People are talking about the renewal before VFS Global but I did this currently and very happy I am done with it.

Oci application acknowledgement
I sent my OCI application on November 19th VFS received it on November 20th they haven’t sent me any email to acknowledge that they have received my application. Is this normal

Can you obtain OCI for minor without H1B stamp on passport?
I want to get OCI for minor born in USA, using VFS. The document requirement clearly states under passport section "In case of a Minor, parents are requested to provide a copy of parents' passport & copy of parent’s valid Visa status in the USA ( for Non-USA passport holders)". H1B visa stamp on passport has expired. We do have valid I-797. What does valid Visa status in the US portion mean ? Can we obtain OCI with valid I-797 but expired H1B stamp ? Has anyone got OCI for minor without H1B stamp on passport?

My progress so far with OCI
1. Sent my application to NY office on 11/06/2020
2. VFS acknowledged they received my application on 11/10
3. VFS said my application is on the way to Embassy for decision making on 11/11
4. Status on tracker says " application forworded to embassy" as of 11/28
5. Received my passport back on 11/27 from VFS. There was letter in there that said I would need to email VFS a return label once they receive OCi card from embassy. I had only sent one return label and they used that to send my passport back.
I'll keep you all posted if anything changes.

Anybody applied for an OCI card recently in Canada? I applied in-person on 28th October and wondering how long the whole process is taking these days. I have a flight on 10th December and worried I might miss it because of no OCI card.

VFS Profiles
Hey, for OCI application through VFS, you need to create 'individual' profiles for each applicant. However I only have 2 emails, but there are 3 applicants in my family. So I accidentally did 2 applications under 1 profile. I made sure to put the correct names and passport details. Hopefully, this will not cause any issues.

Hi , I have applied First Time OCI through VFS and selected PRE-PAID Courier, Query - how do i send them the additional prepaid envelope for OCI Card mailing ? do any one has contact number or email id of the VFS chicago. please share it would be helpful.
