Houston CKGS
Looks like the OCI Dept in CKGS Houston is understaffed or overwhelmed or they just ignore. I sent OCI appln for family on Jun 2, 2015, Received Jun 4th, No receipt, nothing for a week, E-mailed enquieries @ckgs, they wanted the forms sent and the USPS tracking no. 2 days later, on Jun 13, the documents aere logged on. Now there is a request for Marriage certificate - searched alover the home for the 35 year old document, found it, sent the scan by e-mail to [email protected] - Waited 3 days, they haven't seen it. Luckily, the enquiries @ckgs again e-mailed me. I sent them the marriage certificate etc for forwarding to Houston branch, and now waiting ......... for the next step. Why so inefficient?

OCI status
I am the spouse of an Indian citizen and I applied for OCI card in Mumbai (date of acknowledgment 18th February 2015). Even after more than 100 days from the acknowledgment date the online status of my application is still under-process. I wrote to [email protected] and [email protected] but their reply regarding the status of my application is very vague. The whole situation is very frustrating. I am actually waiting for visa since October 2014 (I applied initially for PIO and after all the formalities were done my application was cancelled since PIO emerged with OCI).
Is there anyone who is in a similar situation or it was? Thank you in advance for your comments.

OCI Status
I have applied for Kid's OCI card and got an acknowledgement date May-19th.
CKGS and Govt websiet showing document printing status as 'Under Process'. I have sent an email to shetty for more detail status. The screenshot has Registration Status at Mission as 'Under Process' and document printing status as blank.

Does this mean, Application is still with SFO consulate?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

OCI Application
My application for OCI was ackowledged by the end of February at CGI Dubai consulate and got printed/approved by the authorities (MHA or MI) on mid may (78 days) well for Indian consulate ministry standards, well done. As per status inquiryit has been despatched after 3 days and since 1 month has passed to reach the Dubai Indian consulate. No clue yet where it has gone as diplomatic couriers are frequent with Dubai and Delhi its high time for delivery. Twice wrote to consul for a follow up, should have been dustbinned. Or do they courier thru seamen. As per standards after 42 days from date of acknowledgment OCI cards are ready? Whom to approach. Hope the sea will calm down and reach.

New OCI Orders for active PIOs from MHA
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COORDINATION BETWEEN Indian CONSULATES AND EMBASSY AND MINISTRY OF EXTRENAL AFFAIRS...ALL CONSULATES HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS AND DIRECTIVES...
BELOW IS THE NEW ORDER FOR CURRENT PIO CARD HOLDERS.

"Updated information on requirement of registration for OCI in lieu of PIO cards
It is hereby informed that the date of submission of online applications by the erstwhile PIO cardholders with valid PIO cards as on 09 January 2015 for registration as OCI cardholder in lieu of PIO card has been extended till 30 September 2015.

The applicants may submit the applications for OCI card in lieu of PIO card to the Embassy/Consulates/FFRO concerned within the Consular jurisdiction of his/her place of residence. This is in modification of the earlier instruction that they should apply only at the location where the PIO card was issued.

OCI card is a smart card which will facilitate quicker immigration clearance at the Immigration counters in India. Therefore, PIO cardholders are advised to apply for OCI card in lieu of PIO card before 30 September 2015 at https://passport.gov.in/oci. Procedure for applying OCI in lieu of PIO card is available at http://in.ckgs.us/oci/oci-categories/oci-in-lieu-of-pio-us-adult.shtml.

While the grant of OCI card in lieu of PIO card will be on gratis basis, the applicants would bear only the postage charges and service fee wherever applicable.

For the time being, a PIO cardholder can travel to India on the basis of their valid PIO card and valid foreign passport. Separately in cases of erstwhile PIO cardholders, the new foreign passport number (when they get a new passport) will be endorsed on the existing PIO card till the person concerned is issued an OCI card in lieu of PIO card.

Nevertheless, as provided above, all PIO card holders are advised to apply for OCI card in lieu of PIO cards before 30 September 2015."

OCI
Looks like New York Consulate of India is the fastest of all when it comes to OCI processing....May be they have less application or may be the staff is more organized. OCI Cell at Delhi is definitely efficient...They technically don't delay once the security clearance is done....OCI Cell's Hand are technically tied up until these clearance comes from IB, RAW, NIA, revenue intelligence, local police etc.....My OCI issued and mailed in less than month, now lets see when it arrives here at NY.

Thank you God!

fresh OCI application MINOR - Houston
My daughter was born in Jan 2015 and my i-94 is expiring in august first week.So just 7 months before my I-94 expiring.
I applied for fresh OCI application in 04/27/2015 and since 04/30 , the status is UNDER PROCESS(45 days).
Its not that i want to travel by choice but i cant stay after August first week.
I mailed Houston consulate and Indian consular this week as i knew CKGS wont help much in this , Surprisingly i got reply from Indian consular office Mr shetty who said that they havent even received the application yet and its still with Houston consulate. He asked me to contact them directly to expedite.
I dont know how to contact them apart from emails which they didnt reply.
Now i am in limbo whether to wait or apply for VISA and what will happen to the OCI processing when i am not here.
Incase of VISA should i be applying for transit visa?

Any pointers what should i do.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks...

OCI Application - Houston Consulate
Hi,

I applied for my kid's oci card through ckgs on 18 Apr. Now the ACK date in government website is 23 Apr 2015 and Document printing status is "Under Process". I called CKGS 2 times and they are not aware of the status.

I am planning to travel to india in July 3rd week and I am planning for my kids travel back to US in early February.

If he travels in tourist visa, i will not have his passport for OCI match up. I am confused now.
Any idea how long it will take and July 3rd week travel is possible? .
