Interview was cancelled
Hello all,

My citizenship interview was scheduled yesterday. But two days back, I got call from Immigration office and they said that my interview is cancelled as they didn't receive my file. They will call back again and schedule the interview.

My status in online is not yet changed as interview cancelled. Still my status showing as scheduled interview.

Is this normal ? Could you please share your experience if you experience the same.

Thanks.

Washington Field Office (Fairfax, VA) timeline / estimates
Hello All!

Here my N-400 notices, real time and estimates

14 Nov 18 Application received, NOV 2019 estimate
16 Nov 18 Biometrics scheduled
05 Dec 18 Biometrics BUT government closed due to Bush state funeral
07 Dec 18 Biometrics rescheduled
26 Dec 18 Biometrics DURING shutdown but center was open
26 Dec 18 Biometrics reviewed
01 Apr 19 Interview scheduled
06 May 19 Interview
06 May 19 Application approved, NOV 2019 estimate unchanged
09 May 19 Ceremony scheduled
11 Jun 19 Ceremony, AUG 2019 completion date

So, despite the delay because of government closure and shutdown, it took only seven months start to finish, and might have been less. Yay to USCIS!
Also, don't pay attention to estimates. According to mine, I'd still be waiting!

It's finally over!
I became a U.S citizen after taking oath in Houston on June 19th 2019.

God Bless America!!

P.S: I see lot of folks on this forum use the term "PD" or "Priority Date" with regards to their N-400 application. FYI..there is NO concept of "PD" or "Priority Date" while processing N-400 applications. One can probably use the USCIS received date as a measure of progress of their case but it is still very subjective as each case is unique...anyways, God bless you and God bless America!!

Waiting for Decision
Hello all, my interview was last May 21, 2019. It’s been a month and I still have not heard back from them as to whether my application has been approved or not. Is anyone else on the same boat? My field office is in Houston. This waiting game is so stressful.

Waiting is almost over
Hello beautiful people, it’s me again.
Today I just got my Oath Ceremony scheduled in the mail. After 8 months in the process and 7 years living here in the US so the day finally comes.
Here is my timeline:
-December 7, 2018: application was received
-December 8: biometrics appointment were scheduled for Christmas eve ( when I was there at the place for biometric, the place was closed because Mr President signed the paper saying that Christmas eve is a Federal Holiday)
-December 22: another biometrics appointment was scheduled for January 2
-January 11, 2019: biometrics were reviewed
-May 9: interview was scheduled
-June15: interview day
-June 15: application was approved
-June18: Ceremony was scheduled for July 10.
I’m counting down to the day.
About my interview experience:My IO was super nice and friendly, I was expecting a really mean one but God blessed me. My interview was on a Saturday so it wasn’t that much people at the place but i still have to wait more than an hour for the IO came to me and the reason why was the IO was really patient to an 80 years old lady who stay in the US for 10 years and her dream finally come true: become a US citizen, the IO cried bc she was so happy for that old lady. After that my interview went really smooth and easy. It wasn’t like an interview at all, just like a talk between friends. For the civic questions, it has one question she asked me: “when do people celebrate my birthday”. In my mind I was like what is she talking about, then I wish I know her bday, then I was smart for a second, I asked her: “is it July4?”, she go: that is right, lol. Then she asked me to read a question on a tablet and then she read something for me to write on the tablet also. After that she said congrats to me bc I just passed the test, and told me that the letter will come to the mail from 3 to 5 weeks. However, it just came today, sooner than I expected.
So my dears, keep the hope, your day will come too. God bless America, and you guys.

Naturalization based on 3years rule GC
Hi folks!

I applied for naturalization at Manhattan office.
My info:
- filed May 15th, 20019
- biometric notice May 18th, 2019
- biometric date June 5th, 2019th

So my naturalization based on 3 years rule, married to the citizen. From your experience, did IO ask for any proofs of legitimacy of marriage?

And another question if any of New Yorkers received interview letter earlier than estimate from uscis profile?

Thank you

Naturalization Experience
So I had my naturalization ceremony today in San Diego. My timeline is below,

- Applied 1/10/2018
- Biometrics 5/10/2018
- Interview notification 3/28/2019
- Interview 5/6/2019
- Oath notification 5/25/2019
- Oath ceremony 6/19/2019

My case was quite weird in that it took 4 months to do my biometrics and almost a year to clear the background check. My interview was scheduled as soon as I cleared the background check. I’m from one of the banned countries.
It was a really stressful process for me due to the political climate and stalled application. I remember at the beginning, I was checking my status update daily, but as the days passed, my excitement turned into stress. At some point, I just stopped checking the status and decided to live my life and not think about my application. This is the best advise I can give to those still in the process. It was a great day. Applicants were from 77 countries. Truly beautiful. I’m now a proud American!
Unless someone has a question, this will be my last post here. Thank you to all the posters here who made the process easier. Best of luck!

Estimated Wait Time = 21 days!
How accurate is the estimated wait time for USCIS? Mine says the estimated wait time is 21 days and the case completion time is August 2020. I applied on the basis of qualifying military service so my application is expedited.

Does anyone have any idea if they are in fact looking at getting my stuff finalized in 21 days? Or if I should just not worry about that estimated wait time?
