NYC Federal Plaza - Oath Ceremony rescheduling
Hello,

i had my interview at NY Field Office on October 3rd 2018 and was recommended for approval. However i had to reschedule my Oath Ceremony and now it has been over 3 month and no update. When i check online it just says "You missed your naturalization ceremony". Any attempt to speak to IO on the phone didn't bring any result. Sending letters also does not work, and no infopass appointments available.

Have anyone had a similar experience recently? How long could it possibly take to reschedule the ceremony? I imagine they happen quite frequently and i am desperate to finally become a citizen.

Fairfax Field Office- Interview Experience- Delayed Opening
My interview was scheduled in the morning at 6:40am. The federal offices in the area was opening 3 hours late and it was reflected in the USCIS offices closings webpage (https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/uscis-office-closings). I went there around 8:30 am and to my surprise the office was open already and it was flooded with interview applicants. Because of the weather, they followed first come-first serve procedure and called the names.

Lesson : If a field office is forced to open later than normal, it is best to appear for one’s appointment as close to the scheduled time as possible, assuming travel conditions are safe. Applicants should be prepared to wait for extended periods of time in such situations.

The officer asked general questions about the application and I had a traffic ticket violation. He asked if it was reckless driving and I said No. I also submitted my drivers record from DMV to prove my case and he took it in his file. The interview lasted around 20 mins. Here are some of the questions asked to me and I believe his computer randomly generated the questions for him.

What is the “rule of law”?
How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?*
What major event happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States?
What ocean is on the West Coast of the United States?
Why does the flag have 13 stripes?
What is the name of the national anthem?

I passed my interview and I will be waiting for oath ceremony.

Good Luck to everyone.

NAME CHANGE (CHICAGO)
I would like to ask anyone with NAME CHANGE in what order do you update your status after you obtain your citizenship: social security, driver license, get a passport, auto and home insurance, home deed, banks, credit cards etc.
I read they keep the original certificate of citizenship when you apply for passport and you have to wait about 4 weeks.

Do I need to update home deed and marriage certificate? In my case I'm not changing my legal name just my middle name is spelled wrong and I would like to correct and switch it for my first name at my interview.
If I change my name, I'd have to update my marriage certificate afterwards if I'm approved for citizenship and do the same thing for the home deed. I just don't know if this is going to be a problem in the future if we decide to sell the property, the home deed won't have my current name and it seems like a lot of paperwork involved.

My interview is next week and I don't know what to do, I'm hoping someone here can give me an advise and share their experiences.

Thank you
