Atlanta Filer - Citizenship Interview Approved
FO: Atlanta
N400 filed date: 12/27/2021
BioMetric Reuse: 12/28/2021
Interview scheduled: 04/30/2022
Interview Schedule: 06/14/2022 and Approved

My Interview appointment is at 11:30 AM.
I reached USCIS office at 10:30 AM and the security officials said they can allow me only 15 mins before my appointment time. So I waited outside till 11:15 AM.
Security officer checked my appointment letter, ID and let me in.
Once Security screening is done then I went to Check-in. The lady took my photo and both hand index finger biometrics and guided me to go to 2nd floor and wait.

I went to the second floor and waited for 2 mins and Officer showed up, asked my name, and said I will be interviewing you and follow me.
Once we step into his room asked me to put all my stuff in the chair and took the Swear.
Asked me to sit in the chair and introduced himself and requested my appointment letter and Green Card. Checked my Green card and returned it back.

Officer said let's start with civics questions
1. What was one important thing that Abraham Lincoln did? Freed the slaves
2. During the Cold war, what was the main concern of the united states? Communism
3. the House of Representatives has how many voting members? 435
4. Name one state that borders Mexico? Arizona
5. What is the capital of the united states? Washington, D.C.
6. there were 13 original States, Names three? Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina.

Read Sentence: What has Abraham Lincoln did?
Write Sentence: Thanksgiving is in November.

Quickly asked me if my cell phone number, and home address changed after the application filed.

He discussed my name change request.- If I want to keep the name change request or not
Yes, I want to keep it.
Asked me to verify the Name change request and sign it.
Let's check your eligibility, and
 1. Were you arrested anytime?
 2. Do you support the US constitution?
 3. How many marriages do you had?
 4. How many kids do you have?
 5. Do you have any outstanding taxes?

He asked me to check all the info in the tab and asked me to sign it.

He then printed a paper and handed it to me and said - I approved your case and you receive an update about your oath ceremony soon and it will be held in court due to your name change request.

Eagerly waiting for Oath ceremony date!!

Evidence when filing N400 after divorce
Hello everyone! New poster here :) Quick question for you all. Hopefully someone can shed some light on my issue.

I'm about to send N400 application in but I'm not sure if I should include evidence of bona fide marriage. Below is a brief summary to help explain...

I received my conditional green card in 2016 based on marriage to a US citizen.
He divorced me in 2017.
I filed I-751 AOS with waiver in 2018 and included ALL evidence I had of the bona fide marriage including information on the divorce. I interviewed 2019. I was accepted and was given my 10-year green card.

I have reach (exceeded) the 5 year mark since becoming a resident. My question is, when I file the N400, do I need to provide evidence of bona fide marriage again?

Since the divorce was final BEFORE filing I-751, I have already given them everything I have and had the interview in where it was deemed legit. I plan to take everything I have to the interview, but to avoid a RFE, I wanted to ask if I should include it with the application. My intuition is telling me to er on the side of safety and include it. BUT it's nothing they don't already have. Again, we divorce in 2017 BEFORE filing I-751. From then until now, literally nothing in my life has changed lol so there's no more 'evidence'.

Side note: I have read on some lawyer websites that once you hit the 5 year mark of having a green card, you are no longer applying for citizenship based on marriage. You're applying on the basis you have been a resident for the last 5 years. Therefore I shouldn't include marriage evidence with the N400 app but that I should be ready to talk about it at the interview, which I am.

All thoughts and experiences much appreciated!

Thanks!

N400 Citizenship Interview Experience - Seattle - 06/09/2022
The end of a 10-year long journey since I first arrived in the US (or so I thought).

Details:
N400 via Marriage (Applied 2 years and 9 months after my marriage)
Date applied: 04/20/2021
Location: Seattle
Biometrics Appointment: None (reused previous from GreenCard)
N400 Interview Confirmation notice: 05/12/2022
N400 Interview: 06/09/2022

What I carried with me:
1. Appointment notice letter
2. Green Card photocopy (as i don't have the original)
3. Passport with I551 Stamp + my wife's passport as proof she is a citizen
4. Driver licenses for me and my wife
5. Original of Marriage certificate, birth certificates for both of us
6. Tax Transcripts from IRS for last 3 years
7. Drivers abstract with no violations
8. All previous USCIS notices since forever
9. Copy of my N400 application
10. A summary of my travel history for the past 5 years
11. A summary of my addresses and employers for the past 5 years
12. Some evidence that me and my wife are together (because my GreenCard is based on Marriage)
13. US Passport application (in case i could apply for a passport right away)

I had my interview at 7:15 AM. at the Tukwila,WA field office. Left at 6:15 from my house and had no traffic and arrived 15 minutes before my interview time.
It was easy to get in the building as no line that early in the morning but my wife was not allowed with me in the waiting room. The officer at the door checked my appointment letter, took 2 fingerprints and my picture and then asked me to move forward to the security line.
About 20/30 people in the waiting room on the 2nd floor.

Waited a good 45mins before having my number called. I had many people coming after me who got called before I was.

We went to a room far in the back. It is an office with a plastic window between you and in the officer with 2 chairs in front of the desk.
Right chair is where you sit when talking to the officer.
Left chair is where you sit when taking civic questions and signing forms. It is a little silly that you need to move around so much during the interview.

The officer was relatively welcoming but zero eye contact in the whole discussion. He asked me to provide my Passport and my Greencard. I gave it the passport and I said I lost my GreenCard couple of months ago. Showed my I-551 stamp (I also have a pending application to renew my Greencard - $500 that still hurt me today) and he said it was alright.

The officer then explained how the next 20/30 minutes will go. Asked me to stand to swear me in.

After that, he asked me to move to the left chair. Started right away with civic tests.

Sentence to write: "California has the most population". Not so easy to write on an Ipad.
Sentence to speak out loud: "Who is the father of our country"

6 easy questions:
- What is an amendment? A change to the constitution
- Name one branch or part of the government. Congress
- If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President? VP
- Who is the Governor of your state now? (Jay) Inslee
- Name one state that borders Mexico. California
- When was the Constitution written? 1787

I answered all questions correctly and the officer did not ask me more questions but also did not said if I passed the test right away.

The officer then asked me how many times I traveled outside the US. I said 2 but in my application I wrote 3. So we went over the travel in a little more details.

Then the officer asked me YES/NO questions that are in the application and also asked if I was willing to bear arms and defend the constitution of the United States. Obviously you don't want to say no to that so I said YES.

In the last part of the interview, the officer mentioned that my interview was supposed to be a virtual one. Because of that he did not have my full file and he said I will not be able to take the oath of allegiance today. Instead I will have to wait for about 2 weeks to get a new appointment. Needless to say, i was disappointed as I dressed up for the event and my wife took off from work to attend the ceremony.

Lastly, he handed me over a document saying that i passed the tests today and that i should expect to hear from USCIS in the next 2 weeks.

Key takeaways:
- All my documentation was useless and I printed way too much documents for this interview.
- All my Civic test preparation was also a waste of time. I could have answered all those questions without spending hours to review the list of 100. Don't stress it too much, based of what i've seen they usually ask the easy questions and not the tricky ones.

Cheers,

Received- Request for evidence to submit, Selective Service enrollment number. This was not asked in the application but asked during interview. He turned 18 in June 2021 and I did enroll him but he did not keep the number handy.
This is no big deal and can be enrolled in mins but sharing this for awareness, minimizing the delay.

N-400 experience
During the past few years I’ve been coming here, to read other people’s experiences on immigration topics today I finally passed my n-400 interview and now I’m waiting to take my oath ceremony .
I decided to provide you guys with this post about how my experience went.
I came to the US 🇺🇸 on march 2012 at that time I was 16 years old I got my green card through legal guardianship (SL6) category.
On January 2016 I was arrested for possession of *** but the case was dismissed on a diversion program which may be seing in the immigration law as a conviction.
In April 2019 I was also arrested for theft which was also dismissed on a diversion program no conviction on either cases. However immigration law defines convictions differently.
I stayed out of trouble, all of this stuff happened while in college

Finally I decided to fil for my n-400 in February 1-2022
February 2nd we received your application
February 3rd we sent you a receipt 🧾 notice
March 15th 2022 we have reused your biometrics
April 1st interview scheduled
June 7th 2022 interview day which I passed thanks to the lord

If you have had some troubles with the law I advise you to consult an immigration attorney before applying to see your options.
The guy who interviewed me was not even paying attention ⛔️ to me he was texting throughout the interview.
I brought in so much documents from letters of recommendation, diplomas, taxes etc he didn’t even ask about it the whole interview was 7 minutes tops.
Those who have never had any trouble have nothing to worry about just study the rest you’ll be good.

The questions I was asked were .
Who was the president during world war 1 . ?
The House of Representatives has how many members ?
Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
Who was the first president?
Who’s your mayor ?

Thanks to god my journey with the immigration is over good luck everyone
