Has any one recenty travelled to US transiting via London? I am trying to buy 2 tickets on british airways for my parents who have already obtained the US visa and the agent said my parents would need transit visa.

But the exemption says YOU ARE EXEMPT IF

You are travelling TO the US from another country and hold a valid airline ticket for travel via the United Kingdom and a valid US visa

Does that mean my parents would not need transit visa? Please help me.

My parents are flying Lufthansa from Bom to US. THey booked their tickets from India and are confirmed tickets. But the travel agent gave them a print out of the tickets instead os paper tickets. On asking why this is so then agent said that it is e-ticket and if you need paper tickets it will be additional Rs.4500/- per ticket.

Has anybody else had this happen? Will not having a paper ticket be an issue anywhere?
THx!

April 20, 2005 - Latest Update on German Transit Visa
Friends,

My dad is coming from India to USA via Lufthansa in May. I enquired if he needed a Transit Visa. I sent an email to [email protected] to find that out, and here is the reply I got:

"From 1st January 2005 all Indian nationals have to apply for an Airport Transit Visa except greencard holders (10 years validity) when they are flying via Germany to India or to the United States of America. This Airport Transit Visa can also obtained at any German airport while in Transit.

Also, if you check out their website, they mention under Exception 4(for India):

...
c)Airport transit travelers who are holding a valid visa for the USA (an approval notice is not sufficient), Canada or Switzerland, are not obliged to obtain an airport transit visa prior to departure. Until further notice for these travelers a “visa on arrival” will be issued by the competent authorities at the respective airport in Germany and no specific action is required from them to obtain an airport transit visa.
...

Hope this helps avoid the confusions.

Thanks

German Transit Visa--update
Hi All,
My niece travelled from Chennai to New Jersy by Luftansa on 4 Apr. She has a valid H4 visa. The travel involved a change of aircraft and a 5 hour wait at Frankfurt. She DID NOT need a transit visa.

I spoke to the German consulate in Mumbai and they too confirmed that a German transit visa is not required if the person has a valid US visa.
So relax guys !

German Transit Visa
My wife tarvelled through Frankfurt by Lufthansa on Mar 30th and they did not ask for German Transit Visa.

She had an Advance Parole and her H4 stamp in the passport has expired.

Recent experience
My mother-in-law just went back to India through Frankfurt (Lufthansa) on March 15th, 2005. No one asked her for the transit visa. In fact, there was no one checking for any type of documents. I am just curious when they will actually start checking for the transit visa.
