H1+H4 visa renewal process via dropbox at Ottawa
Hi All,
I would like to provide an update on our H1+H4 visa renewal process via dropbox at Ottawa.
June 20: Dropped off at Post Office in Ottawa
June 21: Delivered (according to Canada Post)
June 24: DS-160 Status Application Received
June 27: Administrative Processing
June 28: Issued
June 29: Tracking number provided. Package picked up by Canada Post in the afternoon.
June 30: Delivered to Ottawa Post Office and available for pickup. Picked up passports.
To be honest, I have been really lucky and did not expect to happen this fast. We had planned to be in Canada for 4-6 weeks. So for those still planning to drop off, you might want to keep this in mind. Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi All, I have L visa appointment in Toronto Consulate in July, and for same i have 2 queries -
1. Do i need to take any separate appointment for BIOMETRIC, or it will be done on same day as Visa interview?
2. Regarding, Fraud detection and prevention fee (USD500), in which mode i can pay this fee?

H1B dropbox - Calgary
Visiting from US for 2 weeks for the visa stamp. Reached Calgary on 19th June.
Dropped documents in Canada post - 20th June
Canada post Delivered - 21st June
Status changed to Application Received - 23rd June
No update since then.
Had to cancel return flight to US, with no visibliity on when it would be issued

Question to PR holders - Do you work from Canada? Long PTO?
This is a question to all Canadian PR holders who live/work in the US on an H-1B or L1 visa.
As the consulates are taking a long time to process your application (6 weeks and beyond even for the dropbox application), how are you dealing with not being physically present in the US? Is your employer good with you working from there? Are you on a long PTO? What about your family (wife/kids)?

Should I cancel my Canada Dropbox (interview waiver)?
H1b holder looking to get visa stamping from Canada. First H1b stamp obtained from Ottawa consulate on tourist visa (TCN). Non PR holder, no work permit.
Went through the questionnaire on ais-usvisa Canada website expecting to get an inteview appointment. Instead it redirected me to ‘submit documents’ . I answered all the questions knowing that I’m not a PR, yet somehow it pointed me to an interview waiver.
Called to confirm the consulate that have to submit documents from Canada. Cannot submit from US.
I’ve been reading some experiences here and seems like Ottawa consulate is rejecting and requiring in person interviews.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it worth taking the risk to travel to Canada? I need to get my stamping done before Oct 2022.

Like most of other folks, we are stuck in the US without a stamp. I am exploring Canada as an option and am curious to see if others can chime in with appointment availability? Since I am not a Canadian PR, I am assuming I will have to go for an interview.
What are the earliest dates that are available for interview?
For those who have done it, how long did the process take?

Retrieving passport from Toronto Consulate

I'm an international student living in GTA, I applied for a B1/B2 renewal and sent my documents at the end of April.
It has been already 7-8 weeks and I received no update whatsoever about its status (Application received since April 26th).
Such a long wait time makes me really anxious, especially when no decent feedback was provided via email.
I have an important trip coming up in a week and I would like to receive my passport as soon as possible even without a visa.
Is it possible to receive a passport from the Consulate? Whom should I contact?

I’m PR holder and sent my documents for H1 visa stamping on May 3rd.
On May 17, statues changed to documents received.
On June 3rd I sent an email asking for my passport back (even without stamping) because I need to travel to Europe urgently by June 18. Has anyone faced a similar situation before? And if so how did they get their passport back and how long did it take? Thanks!
