Visitor visa
Hi all,
I would like to share my experience in getting my visitor visa approved!!
Kindly have sufficient time between biometric interview and U.S consulate interview.

Phase I
I had my biometric interview in the 3rd week of April 2016, kodambakkam, chennai
It is a very simple procedure
Just need to take 3 documents
1. Passport (both old and new)
2. Ds-160 confirmation page
3. Interview appointment copy
Just sufficient to reach the venue half an hour before the interview time
After the initial screening,
The execute takes verifies the candidates name and then takes fingerprints (all the four fingers and thumb of both right and left hand is taken)
A digital photo is also taken.
That’s is for biometric interview

Phase II
I had my U.S consulate interview in the last week of April 2016 at the U.S.consulate.
We need to go little early (I have my appointment at 10.00a.m, I went around 9.00a.m)
No bags (if transparent then ok), water bottle, mobile, pen drive, CD or anything things else allowed)
Things to carry
1. Passport (both old and new)
2. DS-160 confirmation page
3. Interview appointment copy
4. Supporting documents from the sponsor
5. Other relevant DOCUMENTS as needed

After the initial screening,
The fingerprints are verified, and a queue leads to the VO.
Separate queue are also maintained for regional languages.
The staffs will guide you.
So no worry
My experience with the VO
VO: Good morning (With a smile)
Me: Good morning Mam
VO: What’s your purpose of visit?
Me: Stated
VO: Does your YYYY work there?
Me: Replied
VO: Are u married?
Me: Replied
VO: Do you have kids?
Me: Replied
VO: What is their age?
Me: Replied
VO: Are u travelling alone?
Me: Replied
VO: Ok. Your visa is approved.
Me: Thank you and left the place

Immihelp has been of immense help to understand the entire process and the procedure

rescheduding consulate interview
prior to today, i was able to reschedule my appointment, and after the 2nd time, the option went away. I called USTravel and was told that my CGI reference number is only good for 2 reschedule, and that i would have to pay another visa fee to to able to schedule/reschedule appointment. No where on their website disclosed such information!! Does anyone else has/had the same problem? And if so, is there a way to reschedule one more time without having to pay another visa fee? Thanks in advance for any responses.

B1/b2 visa
visa appointment on 18th april.
Chennai

Thanks to immi help fo guiding through the process, one suggestion to make read all related threads in the forum will definitely help you to get Through uo visa interview.

Biometrics 3rd April - be prior to 15mins of uo appointment. If u go early also no use as the security guard will not allow u inside. Make sure u take appointment early mean to say start of day or at least by noon coz if there are any correction they ask in uo DS160 application last mint hurry ll probably put u in trouble.

Biometric is simple need no not wrry. Just dey ll take a picture and biometric of both hands.. Embassy staffs are very helpful.

Visa interview - my appointment was @11 am but one of my frnd had suggested me to be as early as possible. I thought y this guys asking me to go early wen my appointment is at 11am.. Yes u should be early here appointment timing ll not work, they ll serve u on the basis of first come first out. If u go early u ll reach VO early.

I went @ 9.20 am,i could see a long que outside embassy so Ihad to stand in que der. There ll be security check then u ll b allowed inside embassy. Once security check is done u ll be asked to join a new que which ll b outside VO offc. They ll be sending in a slot of 5 to 10 ppl at once. Inside VO offc there ll b another que which ull b joining. First they ll check uo biometrics n put some mark on passport back on the application sticker den again I stood in que for visa Interview, by the time I reached VO it was 11.30.

VO was around mid 40s looked like an African but quite fair comparatively.

VO - smiled and asked how are doing.
Me - I said good thanks, how abt u sir. He said good.

VO - purpose of visit.
Me - to attend business meeting and to gather required information and knowledge transfer on so n so project.

VO - knowledge transfer huh.
Me - I said yes sir.

VO - which company u work fo?
Me - Xyz

VO - where are u going in USA?
Me- xxxx

VO - please wait fo minute, staring at his system.
Me - sure sir no problem said boldly but inside I was nervous coz I this guy taking time to think so much but it was his system issue. He was copying and pasting somethin I could his fingers moving around keyboard.

VO - UO visa is approved. Enjoy uo stay.

I just said thank you so much sir and got of that place.

As mentioned earlier in que fo visa officer there ll b embassy ppl sitting dey ll ask u to GOTO counters based on uo visa type like fo b1 need to to 26 n 27 I gues or if student it ll b 21,22,23.

B1 visa are quit easy to get but I saw many rejection cases fo student visas so make sure u ve proper documentation n proof. I saw one guy whose visa rejected 7th time. VO was asked him a simple ques what circumstances have change since uo last rejection. guy said someting den VO replied saying if u apply 20times also uo visa get rejected unless u provide proper explanatuon. My suggestion would be if uo visa gets rejected, already there ll b remarks made by Earlier VO so u need to b very careful Nd also b guinuin to them they are experts sitting there. Or take help frm law firm or attorney who gives us visa counselling best possible option.

Today I am going to collect my visa a@designated centre.

Hope this info ll help.

Sister got visitors visa approved in 3 attempt!
Hi All,

I really wanted to share my sisters experience as she got B2 visa denied 2 times in a year but got it the 3rd time.

She is 23(unmarried) and works in a software company. My brother is in US and we all wanted to visit him for his birthday and see US :)

My mom's visa was approved but my sister's visa was denied in July 2015. We dropped the plan and applied again in Mar 2016 but this time again her visa was denied under section 214(b).

We all lost hope but somewhere in my heart I wasn't convinced as there was no reason to deny her visa. I decided to apply again for her and this time I prepared her myself for the interview.

Luckily we managed to get an appointment in April 2016 and this time she made it!!!

We are so happy, my mom and she can be with my brother on his birthday! There were so many people and stories I heard which said a single sister will not get the visa easily. It's not true and completely depends on the reason why you want to visit.

Just be confident and keep trying. All the best!!!!

Confusion regarding a question in ds 160
i am confused with one question in DS 160. that is 'contact in USA'. i my previous application which was refused a month back. i didn't mention and friend or relative in that part. because i dont have any friends or relatives there. i only have one college distant friend. shall i mention his name and address or shall i put the name of a hotel where i am planning to stay. in my previous application i didn't put any one but hotels name.
in tips for this question it says that 'it should be some one who can verify you. who can identify you'. in that case how can i put hotels name ..i am confused help needed urgently.
