Need Suggestion for B1 Reapplication
Hi All,

My first B1 application got rejected to 214(b) in first week of February 2016. I am planning to reapply for the same. Need your suggestion for the below question which might be asked -

What has changed significantly in few days so that you think your visa may be approved?

I have thought of the answer as below -

During my previous interview I was not clear about the timelines of the meeting and hence I told that I may need to stay for around 8 Weeks. Now, I am clear about the timelines and it is for 5 days only. Post that I need to come back to India.

Please advise if this answer is good to go. Or you suggest any other answer.

Please advise urgently.

I have applied B1/B2 visa for USA in Abu Dhabi, in my application I have added information for my wife that she will also travel with me.

When I tried to add her for payment of visa, system showed that this application has already occupied.

My Question: Should I need to put a separate application for my wife? and she need put information in application about in section " who is travelling with you ?"

or
I should call to US embassy Abu Dhabi? or they giving such info on phone?

Thank you

B2 visa approved - Mumbai consulate, 8th Feb 2016
First of all, many thanks to immihelp.com and to all the contributors of this forum. It helped me immensely to prepare for the interview.

Here are the experiences of two interviews (one for my parents and the other for my aunt) at 8:00 am at Mumbai consulate in Gujarati language. A lady Gujarati translator was already present alongside the American officer.

First part - For my parents:

1. Why are you going to USA?
Ans. To meet my son and for tourism.

2. What is your son doing?
Ans. Working in xxx as xxx.

3. What do you do here in India?
Ans. Business.

4. How many children do you have?
Ans. Three, two are India and married with kids. Told the names as well.

That was it, Officer - your VISA is approved, collect your passport in 2-3 days. No questions asked to Mother and not a single document was asked to show.

Second part..For my Aunt (she is a widow):

1. Why are you going to USA?
Ans. To meet my brother and for tourism.

2. Do you have any kids?
Ans. Yes, four daughters - all are married and live in India.

3. Have you visited any other country before?
Ans. No

That was it, your VISA is approved. Not a single document asked to show here as well.

Key is the CONFIDENCE. Please carry all the documents listed on this website and practice all the questions properly before the interview.

Good luck to all future candidates!

Your assistance sir/ma...
Please Sir/ma I need your assistance, i went for my interview on 19th January 2016 and my visa was refused, i applied for b1/b2. Am a Firefighter from Nigeria, 34yrs old, married with a kid, my monthly salary is around $752, i want to visit my instructor (citizen) to learn more about my job for 2 weeks during my annual leave which will commence by early March this year,i have all the documents with invitation letter to back my case but the Consular Officer did not even ask for any document, just two questions. The interview goes this way:

1,VO: Good morning
  me: Good morning sir
2,VO: Why do you want to go to US?
me: I want to visit my instructor Mr.xxxx xxxx
3,VO: How much is your monthly income?
  me: #150,568 ($752)

VO: its not what you can go U.S for, sorry your visa is not approved this time you can reapply, and he gave me one blue card which is 214(b) when i go through the card it was stated that i can reapply any time but some information must change from the old Application form.

Please Sir/Ma, am thinking of reapply soon. Firstly, my question is that, what category visa can i choose? because i want to go and learn more about my job for just two weeks(Short Course) not from a University or College but from a Fire Service Department in U.S. and they have arranged for my visit over there. I wanted to tell the Visa Officer that i want to go and learn more about my job for two weeks, but someone told me that, Learning or Short Course(Training) visa is different from visiting visa, and visiting visa was the one i applied.

Secondly, when i searched, i learned that,if you wish to pursue a course of study which is not principally academic in nature at an established vocational or other recognized nonacademic institution such as a post secondary vocational or business school, you will require an M-1 visa.

Thirdly, concern the Purpose of traveling, can i say, am going for training from a Fire Service Department or am going for two weeks course from a Fire Service Department?

Please assist me with your experiences, i would appreciate your quick response. Thanks.
