The lady asked if I do any research and I corrected her saying I had only done Undergraduate Research Assistant work previously. My work is in biotechnology/pharma so I can sense the confusion for the consular. The lady kept my passport and handed me a white 221(g) slip along with another white slip that was directed towards research work.

As soon as I mentioned I am a chemical engineer, I was sent to Window 6 where the lady handed me 221g slip. I emailed the additional information on the same day (CV, research, publications, travel history, education etc). The lady had told me 3-4 weeks, but I still have no update.

This was my first H1B. I am moving through F1 to F1-OPT to H1B. My PhD is in Chemistry. At the interview, VO asked to see I797 and nothing else. I was asked about my work. I am a scientist in a small midwest pharma company. After a bunch of typing I was issued the dreaded pink slip. I sent in the resume and other details the same day. They did not keep my passport and I was told I am done for the day. Not sure what that means? Now it is a waiting game.
