Nov 27th: Dropbox submitted documents at Nehru place (me and my wife).
Dec 2nd: Wife's H4 Issued, My in Admin Processing
Dec 6th: Asked to pickup passport (Still in Admin processing). Got 221g to come for Interview.
Dec 7th: Went for interview. Asked basic questions like Client, Salary, Education, Role and Responsibilities.
VO issued another 221g with lot of documents listed. Asked to email to [email protected]. Returned Passport
Dec 12th: Emailed all documents and got auto reply for Ack. Now the painful wait starts
Jan 23rd: Client got an email with around 20 questions regarding my employment Don't know what the the questions). Not yet replied.
Jan 25th - Client Replied to the questions
Feb 1st - Got an email from US travel docs to submit Passport to a dropbox location. CEAC status still 7th Dec (Interview Date)
Feb 8th - First time after interview date Case got updated to Today's date still Admin Processing
Feb 9th - Finally ISSUED!!!
Picked up passport.

Went for my H1B visa interview on Jan 2nd. Work as a researcher in the US and have a PhD so got a 221G under the TAL criteria. Asked for my passport back because I had some travel plans.

Status Update on CEAC: Jan 31 ( Status still AP)
Emailed embassy on Monday Feb 12; received an email response asking me to submit my passport to the nearest VAC. Submitted passport on the same day.
Status Update: Feb 14 around 5PM (Still AP)
Status Update: Feb 15 (Issued!)

1/22: Was given pink slip with 'Other administrative processing' checked. No documents/additional information asked for. Was told it usually takes a week. CEAC status check shows 'pending' and it may take several weeks.
1/25: CEAC status check shows 'issued' and visa is is final processing. Traveldocs says passport still with consulate.
1/27: Received passport delivery. All in all, this took essentially same time as with no 221g. Not sure what 'administrative processing' they managed to do in 2 days!

Case was created on 10/11 and last updated on 10/12. I haven't seen any update since.
VO asked me basic questions about being a direct hire (Yes) and if I studied in the US (F1 -> H1 last year).
She said my visa was approved and collected my passport. She mentioned it will take about 2 weeks for processing as they had to do something on their end. However 2 weeks later, when I emailed support-india, got a response from US embassy that it's under 221g admin processing.
Followed up a few times with the same response
12/7 - Collected my passport from the embassy as I had to travel.
02/05 - case date updated, still in AP
02/07 - emailed the embassy and was asked to submit the passport
02/12 - case updated again, still in AP
02/13 - Issued
02/14 - Passport ready for pick up

I am from Maharashtra, took interview at Hyderabad due unavailability of closest dates, fingerprinting done at Mumbai ofc .
vo: asked questions about research, role, current job, salary, sponsor, he somewhat not happy with my role for the research, tell me to wait for while.
After sometime handed over white slip and told to submit cv, publications, invitation letters, plans, programme details, host cv publications.
Submitted.
Programme director wrote three page letter directed to consulate but to me. Mentioned the role, need and everything.
After long wait first update Feb 6th: administrative processing
Passport requested: 7th Feb
2nd update : 12 th Feb administrative processing
3rd update : 13 th at 3.00 pm "Issued"
I think if you stuck at administrative processing then you are not the influencing person but your sponsor,
Sponsors strong recommendation matters.
Still not collected visa waiting for email from vac ..
