Need help hold on case i944
Hi everyone,

I’m writing to share my experience and get advice on what I should do regarding my case. We submitted (marriage based) our paper work in mid September and the USCIS sent us case receipts on October 1st. Basically, the problem we are having is all of our case is now on an adjudicated hold because the switch in the i-944 requirements (no longer required). There is a hold on our case because we didn’t respond. Our lawyer said a response wasn’t needed because the document is no longer required by USCIS and said it’s clearly stated in their new rule that it’s not needed.

Is this an error on USCIS part? Our case had been at a halt since February. I already reached out to USCIS with no response multiple times. I reached out to my local congresswoman and she hasn’t heard back yet. What are my options?

Should I contact state senator or ombudsman? Is anyone else experiencing this same problem? I am scared my case will be thrown out based on a response that was no longer needed.

5years no Approval
Team,
I need you input on my experience. Marriage based I-485 application since 2017. 2 interviews done in Atlanta field office. Last week immigration officers came to visit we were not at home but my Neighbour spoke to them. She doesn’t know us but could identify me but not my husband because he’s hardly at home during d day. This Neighbour has seen me a few times but i guess not my husband.
My EAD expired. I stopped working and I am worried of the outcome of this visit.
Anyone with such experience especially in Atlanta? Will they make a second visit? What should I do at this point? Please help!

I485 Approved NYC Filer
Queens Field Office. NY / F2B

My interview was on July 2Oth. the officer was really friendly and quick, she didn't ask me anything personal besides those Yes/No questions. She only asked for my birth certificate, photo ID, and passport. the entire interview lasted about 10mins then she said you will get your green card in 4~6 weeks if no more evidence is needed. 3 days later, my case status moved to New card is being produced.
A total of 14 months waiting during covid, I Guess it is not too shabby. Just be patient, USCIS is clearly getting back on track.

Interview in a week - need some suggestion!
Hi All! Our interview is coming up next week. I have a very basic question/need for suggestion/advice....
We have 4 big folders and our photo album plus a thin file (which we will carry on hand) with interview letter and ID documents. We plan to carry them in tote bags (they are like grocery bags but are nicer and made of fabric).

Would that be allowed? We can't carry everything in hand as it is very heavy and I want to avoid backpacks.

Any additional advice for the interview day will be helpful too! As everyone - we are excited and nervous/jittery :) We will NOT be carrying phones definitely.

Wish you all the best for your interviews/timelines!!

Thanks so much!!!

I-485-Stroke Interview-NY-BRONX-Approved.
Hello to all- My adjustment of status and I-130 is approved after 2 years and 3 months. We had total 2 interviews.

Short timeline :

04/18/2019/ = Priority date . (applied I-130,131,485 together)
after 6 months = EAD and Travel permit approved.

SEP -2020 = Got renewed combo card.
Jan-2021 = RFE for asking joint documents and proof of citizenship of my wife for I-130
July-2021= Had stoke interview. same day approval.

Stoke interview experience:

we were at location with attorney at federal plaza.
We waited 2 hours for our turn.
In between waiting time, interview officer came and told us get ready with only new documents (after RFE summited) and
go for lunch or restroom if you needed because its goona be long time and lots of questions for our interview.
After 30 min she took us for the interview.

First we took oath and few yes and no question.
Then ask us to put our phone on her desk ,we didnt bring it because we thought that we were not allowed to take it. she said its okay.
She said to my wife that She will take my interview first so please wait outside.

She asked me lot of questions, like 75 questions for an 1 hour and 10 min.(it took time because she was writing my answers)
my full name, date of birth, place of birth ,my family members name, when I came to usa and for what purpose.
same qus about my wife

then about first time how - where-when we met, who approached whom, first date, how much time you dated, during dating time where you went.
During Dating time :

have you visited each other's place before you got married? , why you didnt visited each other's place?
who was living with you , who was living with your wife, address of both.
when did you met her kids and dad. ? when did your wife met your family?

Big Point - about how you move together ?
Did you stay together before wedding ?
How you both move together ? (by u-hall,taxi...)
What time it was?(morning,afternoon...)
Who else helped you?
what things you got with you?(furniture ,clothes , tv....)?

did your wife met your siblings ? where they live? when and where? did they stayed over or visited your apt? age of each sibling.

Full name of mine and my wife's family members, their age and who lives where? and what they do for living?

Any trip together or separate after mrg? where and when ?

how many previous mrgs of your wife? years of mrg and divorce.
how many kids she had with previous relationship?

Big point - About kids
Birthday, age, school name , any child support? ,how much? how your wife gets it (in bank -which account)
how your kids communicate to their fathers? when they visited their fathers last time? name of their fathers.
have you ever met them? do you know where they live?

Big point- Finances-
How many accounts together ?
Last big transaction from joint account- when and how much (she went through last few statements and asked).

same questions to my wife.

then what ever little bit changes in answers , she gave us opportunity to explain and convince her.
