I’m writing to share my experience and get advice on what I should do regarding my case. We submitted (marriage based) our paper work in mid September and the USCIS sent us case receipts on October 1st. Basically, the problem we are having is all of our case is now on an adjudicated hold because the switch in the i-944 requirements (no longer required). There is a hold on our case because we didn’t respond. Our lawyer said a response wasn’t needed because the document is no longer required by USCIS and said it’s clearly stated in their new rule that it’s not needed.
Is this an error on USCIS part? Our case had been at a halt since February. I already reached out to USCIS with no response multiple times. I reached out to my local congresswoman and she hasn’t heard back yet. What are my options?
Should I contact state senator or ombudsman? Is anyone else experiencing this same problem? I am scared my case will be thrown out based on a response that was no longer needed.
I need you input on my experience. Marriage based I-485 application since 2017. 2 interviews done in Atlanta field office. Last week immigration officers came to visit we were not at home but my Neighbour spoke to them. She doesn’t know us but could identify me but not my husband because he’s hardly at home during d day. This Neighbour has seen me a few times but i guess not my husband.
My EAD expired. I stopped working and I am worried of the outcome of this visit.
Anyone with such experience especially in Atlanta? Will they make a second visit? What should I do at this point? Please help!
My interview was on July 2Oth. the officer was really friendly and quick, she didn't ask me anything personal besides those Yes/No questions. She only asked for my birth certificate, photo ID, and passport. the entire interview lasted about 10mins then she said you will get your green card in 4~6 weeks if no more evidence is needed. 3 days later, my case status moved to New card is being produced.
A total of 14 months waiting during covid, I Guess it is not too shabby. Just be patient, USCIS is clearly getting back on track.
Here is my timeline hope it helps. Good Luck.

I just recently moved my case to Reno Nv from Sacramento . I have been waitting for interview since Nov.2019 ( really frustrating) We just moved to Nv and my field office is in Reno . My Pd is Sept.2019 .. anyone that has had interview in Reno ?
Hi All! Our interview is coming up next week. I have a very basic question/need for suggestion/advice....
We have 4 big folders and our photo album plus a thin file (which we will carry on hand) with interview letter and ID documents. We plan to carry them in tote bags (they are like grocery bags but are nicer and made of fabric).
Would that be allowed? We can't carry everything in hand as it is very heavy and I want to avoid backpacks.
Any additional advice for the interview day will be helpful too! As everyone - we are excited and nervous/jittery :) We will NOT be carrying phones definitely.
Wish you all the best for your interviews/timelines!!
