B1 Visa - Delhi Embassy
My interview was at 10 am on Sept 01, 2015 in Delhi Embassy.

I taxi driver made me reach at venue by 9:10 am and asked me to join the people standing on roadside and waiting for their call according to appointment. It was too hot outside, so I asked the driver to keep the AC on and I killed 20-30 minutes in the car by talking with my driver random things.

At 9:40 am, I get out of the car and seen that they had started calling candidates having appointment at 10. I joined the queue and an official verified the barcode that was got pasted by VAC (where fingerprint was taken). Then I moved to security check. After security check I joined the queue in main embassy hall where interviews were getting taken on 20-25 counters simultaneously.

Now, after fingerprint verification, I moved to the queue which was directing to interview counters. I was in full formal attire; very small checked light colored shirt, dark colored trouser, tie and now I had wore my blazer too (earlier it was on my hand), company's id card. An official asked me to remove companies id card from the neck. So, I removed it and placed into my pocket.

Now, I was almost near to the interview counter but I was cool. I was seeing there were many people whose visa were getting rejected. Okay, so I was just next to the person who was giving the interview. I could listen all questions and answers of him, however, I didn't want to listen anything at that point because it could make me nervous or panic while listening his questions and thinking about my answers for those questions.

Ah! it's my turn. My legs were crossed while I was standing on the counter. VO couldn't see that and I took the advantage. I did this to relax myself and avoid/reduce any nervousness.

Me: Hi Officer, Good Morning.

VO: Good Morning, passport please (with smile).

I passed my passport.

VO: What is the purpose of your visit to US?

Me: I have got some business meetings and technical discussions.

VO: Where you are going in US?

Me: [city], [state]

VO: For how much time?

Me: For 14 days (2 weeks).

VO: For which company you work, sir?

Me: It's YYYY Softwares.

VO: Who is your client?

Me: XYZ Inc.

VO: What do they do?

Me: [Explained in 2-3 sentences].

VO: You work for YYYY Software....

Me: Yes, YYYY Software Pvt. Ltd.

VO: In which city you work?

Me: Chandigarh

VO: You are working as a Team Lead.

Me: Yes

VO: ### ##### #### ### supervise? (couldn't hear him)

Me: Sorry, pardon please.

VO: How many people do you supervise? (repeated)

Me: 10 people, which includes Software Engineers & QAs.

Now, he started making weird faces. (I started feeling happy internally knowing that my visa is approved for sure, as I knew that he is trying to act like anchor of a reality show. As they do like this and then try to create suspense to the contestants and audience)

VO: Have you ever gone outside of India?

Me: No, Not yet.

VO: Are you married, Sir?

Me: No.

VO: Your Visa is approved. Have a happy trip sir (with smile).

Me: Thank You.

As everybody says, confidence is the only key. Just be on your words and don't be panic if VO throws some tricky question. Wear formals and do whatever makes you relax.

Best of luck!

US VISA - B1 Interview
Firstly, great thanks to everyone for actively maintaining this forum. I found it really helpful before my interview.

Day 1: Biometrics - I reached Centre at 4:15 PM and everything was done within 5 minutes. Carry your passport and CEAC confirmation for Biometrics.

Day2 Interview: I reached at 8:45 AM at the US Consulate since 9 AM was my reporting time. There was a long queue which was very well managed by the officials and it took me an hour to finally appear before the interviewer.

He asked me 5 simple questions -

Me: Good morning! How are you doing today?

VO: Good. Can I see your passport?

Me: Sure, Sir. Here it is. *handed it over to him*

VO: Why are you travelling to the US?

Me: For Business meetings

VO: Have you ever traveled before to any other country?

Me: I beg your pardon, Sir. I could not hear what you just said.

VO: *repeats* Have you ever traveled before to any other country before?

Me: yes Sir. I was in [Country name] last year in December.

VO: And that as well was for business meetings?

Me: Yes.

VO: Which city are you going to visit?

Me: It’s [City name]

VO: Who is your client?

Me: It’s [Client name]

VO: I am approving your VISA

Me: Thank you, Sir. Have a great day!

Key to this interview is be confident in your replies, be precise and don’t get bothered if you have seen rejections happening on other counters.

Good luck!
