Business Visa - B1

Very Happy to sharing my Expierence here on Immihelp, feeling good to writting the lines that i actually feel.
 
It is Really a Fantasic Forum page, for the one's who are applying the Visa for the first time. I would say it would be helpful. Give us the exact and accurate feel to fight with the nervousness before facing Visa Officer.

So here my exp, below

I had a Interview Today on 7th April,2015.My appointment time is 9.30 AM.
I reached there by 8.00 Clock. I thought before reaching, i would be the only 1st one can be seen there.. But what i seen, there many peopls out there outside the US Embassy. My nervous ness again increasing after soo many peropls..

I waited 1 hour there and try to take expierence of those faces who were coming out from Embassy. Some looks very happy and some not, So i think i wish i would be in the 1st one's

First of all want to tell you- This Interview is totally depend on you, How you present yourself and how much you are confident. rest is your Luck

so Here i go.

after waited in Long Cues, finally i entered the Interviewer Cabin, where many americans are seen out dere, Some looks very polite, some look very nice and some looks very Moody and aged

While in queue, you have a time to seen how others are giving the interview, that time in my mind, i select some of VO officers, that God please make my number to them only. (Some Lady officer are very sweet and responded well). But mine one is Guy. he looks very decent and Responded well to the ones for whom he is taking the interview. I select him in my mind and by luckily i got the same Guy to take my interview. Half of my confidence build that time

Here My turn came

He give Gesture to come in.

--> I Greet him with a Smile and Said (Very Good Morning Sir)
-) quickly he repsonded me with smile (Good Morning )
Here my confidence get build up
-->he asked me to give the passport, i gave the Same
--) ok So what is the purpose of your Vist?
--> I responded in very polite way (Business meeting and Discussions)
--) ok ok..he said
--) So you are with currently ?
---> looks tricky one( but i said correctly in a Sec. I am workign with Xyz comp)
--)Where you are planning to Go?
-->I said the city Name.
--)What your Client Name?
--> i said the name, then he intrupt me in between and smile and said what client Do.
--> i answered in 1 Sentence, He Looked in my eyes for 5 sec, then he typed something in computer
--)So you are Married ?
--> i said Yes
--) you have a Kid
--> yes Sir, Daughter
-) Have you ever gone anywhere outside India.
--> I told him the ans.
---------Here the Golden Words Came ----- Jackpot for me

Sir Your VISA is APPROVED... This is the moment i waited for.. in the situation i am being Currently i can bear the Rejection.. I need it at any Cost !!

I Just want to share the Exp. with you guys, who have read my whole exp.. Sorry its being Very Long.
wanna say, just make a proper eye contact with VO. they guys are very clever and Read the Face in fraction of sec..and be confident and Believe in Yourself.. i say

Rest its on you. Make a Happy face, during all the session. Definately you will get selected.

background: have around 3.9 year of experience in IT industry, worked with YYYY company for 3.5 years and recently joined yyy around 4 months back.

5th april 2015 ofc: nothing much, a straight forward process.
6th april 2014 at consulate: after all security check, i was placed in queue for interview.

the VO was young lady officer, looked like from Indian origin.

(Exact words)

me: very good morning, provided passport
VO: good morning.

VO: are you working with ZZZ?
me: yep.

VO: why are you travelling to US?
me: for business meeting

VO: who is your client
me: YYYY systems

VO: what is your designation?
me : Engineer cum Developer

VO: how long you will be there?
me NO (i misheard as "have you ever been there?" :-) )

VO: how long you will be there?
me: for 9 days

VO: thank you, i am approving your VISA.
me thank you.

there not much to worry about the interview, but have your answers ready. one liners will be good. try to practice answer for each possible questions. keep an eye contact. look confident.

there was some one on the same forum who wrote the true fact that " why to worry about 5th standard exam, even though we are already graduated"

I am software professional with 6.3 years of experience and joined the XYZ company 10 days ago as a project manager (salesforce& Apttus). I have read almost 60% of the interview experiences posted on this site from past 3 days. But when I was there for my turn this is how it went on......

(Actual Words)

Me: Good Morning Sir!
VO: Only passport please

Me: Pasport given
VO: Why are you going to US?
Me: I am going to attend a Business Meeting

VO: Have you ever been to United States?
Me: No

VO: Have you ever travelled out of your country?
Me: No

VO: How long is your stay in United States?
Me: Two weeks

VO: Are you married?
Me: Yes

VO: What is your Annual salary?
Me: XYZ lakhs per Annum

VO: Have you ever been to United States?

Even before I answered, VO said " oh! you have already said NO" and he has kept my passport in his tray. And asked another question

VO: Why did XYZ (my company name) chose you for this role?
Me : I explained in two sentences (He was having coffee when I was answering this question)

VO: Your Visa is approved, next one in the Q please
Me: Thank you, have a good day.

My B1 Visa was refused 2 times in 2011. So this year I have tried again . My interview schedule was on March 24th 9:00 AM.
They allowed to enter before 30 minutes. After all the checking and formalities, I was waiting for my token number.

Interviewer was an American Lady.

VO : Good Morning.
Me : Good Morning Mam.

VO: How are you doing?
Me: I am doing Good, How about you?

VO: Yes I am doing Good. (She put some joke and laughing)
Me : I too was laughing with her

VO: Passport Please
Me : I gave her and she was searching my old data in the system

VO: Which Company you are Working
Me : XYZ

VO: Oh.. Still you are working with same XYZ company (She knows my data from the system)
Me: Yes Mam

VO: Purpose of Vist?
Me: Explained clearly in few lines

VO: Which place you are going?
ME: ZZZ

VO: How long you will be staying there
ME: xxx weeks

VO: Your Designation
Me: ZZZ

VO: Your Salary Per Annum
Me INR: YYYY

VO: Are you married Sir?
Me :Yes.

Finally that Golden Words!!!

VO: Thank you Sir!!! I am approving your Visa.
Me: Thank you Mam. Thank you So Much.

Be Confident and answer shortly and clearly... All the Best...

My B1/B2 visa application was refused on 16th March'15 under 214 (b) section (1st time).

VO : What is purpose of Visit?
Me: For Business meet
VO: What is your role?
Me: I explained (was nervous).

But he didnt understood..he told u haven't explained properly and he gave me passport and white slip of 214 b..
I think i was not confident.I haven't prepared for interview.
As rejection reason is clear, Can i reapply immediately?will i get visa in second attempt?
Is anyone here who applied immediate and cleared?

Hi All, I had B1 visa interview at Chennai consulate on 9th March 2015. My interview was scheduled at 11:30 AM IST but I was there by 10:30AM. There was very less rush that day and I was allowed to enter and stand on the queue for the interview. My Interview happened at around 10:50 AM and here is experience.

Me: Very Good Morning
VO: Good Morning Sir, Passport please
Me: given
VO: which company you work for
Me: Answered
VO: Since when are you working in the current organization
Me: Answered (1 month)
VO: Why is the company sending you so early?
Me: Answered, just one line answer
VO: How is your company related to the client
ME :Answered.
VO: What are your previous company name and the tenure you had worked there?
ME: answered
VO: Your visa is approved
ME: Thanks and have a very good day
VO: Thanks and wish you the same.

Hi Guys ! First of all i wud like to take this opportunity to thank this wonderful site which helped me to prepare myself for this B1 visa interview . I had appeared for B1 visa interview on Dec 31,2014 but unfortunately couldn't clear it under sec 214(b) .It was really embarrassing and morale losing feeling that time .Some of my Office teammates used to tease me for this ,However i had self believe and trust on me and my GOD almighty if i get another chance i ll clear it and prove myself right in front of them and that what exactly happened . Credit should also be given to my US manager who gave me this 2nd Chance to reappear .My heartfelt big thank to her for this favor .
I re-appear for Visa Interview on 13 March 2015 -Chennai and here is what my experience i had :-

Me: Hello Officer ,Very Good Morning .
VO : Good Morning Sir .
Me : How you r doing ?
VO : Good ! Can i see your Passport please .
ME : Given.

VO : SO why you are going you US ?
ME : Technical Configuration trainings and Meeting (exact words)

VO :Whats this training about?
ME: explain the training agenda as per invite letter .

VO : Whats your designation in your company(XYZ)
ME: Senior Product Engineer

VO : Are you going to your client location ?
ME: NO Sir ,Actually My company is a Software Product based company and that's why I am going to my company US head office .

VO :Is there any US invitation letter you have ?
ME : Yes Sir ! and handed over my US invitation letter to him.

VO : Why this Technical Configuration trainings happening in US only ,why not in India ?
ME : (I Didn't understand the question properly but liked to gave the answer in flow considering he is asking why can't you do this training in India .To be honest it didn't click in my mind what to answer at that moment but said something like my development team sits over there etc) .He was not convinced with my answer and asked again .Why only in US this training is happening . Then i got something accurate this time and said actually Sir all my Business Heads and technical Architect sits over there and there no one over here who is aware about this New Features going to be implemented on our software product .That's why I was asked to come and attend training and meeting there so that once i got trained on it i can comeback and train other junior teammates who will be part of this project .(This time Officer looked convinced and said oh ok ! alright ) Literally i got scared whether he is ok or not but stood confident and didn't show whats going on in my mind.)

VO :Whats your package in your company ?
ME : *.** lakh per annum .

VO : Are you married ?
ME: NO Sir ! but my marriage is there in Dec .

VO : Ohh ! So are you engaged ?
ME: Yes Sir .

VO :After that the moment came for which was waiting and he said the Magical Word " OK ,Your Visa is approved ,Have a nice journey to US " and returned my US invite letter to me .
ME : I was not getting anything what to say .Couldn't believe I proved myself for what i came here .But said "Thank you so much Sir ! " and ran away with full of joy and happiness .

Bottom-line is :
It does matter after how much time you are re-applying for B1 visa but make sure you have some strong ties in India which can convince officer you ll be back after your tenure ends as well as appropriate justification for your visit .Maintain Eye contact and be confident on what your answering .
Use very short and simple sentence ,don't describe until asked for .
I hope my experience will certainly help to those particularly who are willing to re-apply for B1 visa .All the best to them from my side .

Me : I am not sure how long its going to be there, as in it’s a new requirement and multiple stakeholders are involved in it.

First of thanks immihelp .THe experience of other users here certainly helped me in my interview for B1 visa.

Below is my experience with the interviewer :-
Interviewer :- Hi
Me :- Good morning (with not a broad smile I was told not to be too expressive and keep your answers very short)

Interviewer :- Your purpose of visit
Me :- Going there for requirement gathering and design discussion for my project (the word discussion is important here)

Interviewer :-Do you have an invite letter
Me :- Yes (important document you must carry.Invite letter,Original marksheets,DS160,Covering letter (if possible))

Interviewer :-Where are you travelling and for how long
Me :- answered it as per my DS160 form.

Interviewer :-Your visa has been approved .Congratulations
Me :- Thank you

Also prepare for tough questions like why company has chosen you and no one else,your role in the project,your agenda of the visit.
As mentioned by others it is very important to keep you answers short .Rest all is simply straight forward.
Carry as much of documents as you can to be on safer side though they do not ask yo for it.
