My B1 visa rejected 1 year back with the reason 214(b) and i am reapplying & next week is my interview.
Can someone please help me i have few doubts.
1.What to answer when they ask- What was the reason your last time visa refusal.
how to convince them.
2. What will you do after your return.
3. How is this trip benefit to your employer-

Hi Every One,
Thanks for immihelp, which help me lot. Below is my experience.
OFC on 04-27-2015: TPL House
Scheduled at 12.30 in TPL House, there was a small queue, when i reached at 11.05. i think i was bit early, its enough if we go there before 45 mins. They will allow mobile phones here but has to be switched off.
Finger prints taken, asked some basic questions as per passport. Photo taken thats all.
Interview on 04-28-2015: Consulate near Gemini Flyover
Scheduled at 10.30, there was long queue, when i started at 9.40. But the queue was moving fast.
Outside they check the token number pasted on the previous day. Then inside they verify finger prints again and passport. Then channelled to the counter. before me all the three persons where approved, so got confident.
The VO was in the middle age around 40+ I guess...
VO: Passport Please
ME: Offering the passport and said "Good Morning"
VO: Very Good Morning, How are you?
ME: I am doing Good Sir, How about You?
VO: Good. So you are working for YYYY Company?
ME: YEP
VO: How long you are working there?
ME: 3.6 years, he didnt here properly, 3 years and 6 Months
VO: Have you travelled any where out of india?
ME Yes, to China
VO: Was it a Business Trip?
ME: Yes
VO: Are you working in Location ZZZ?
ME: Yes
VO: I have visited there once?
ME: Gr8 sir, How was the place?
VO: OK, How many days is your travel?
ME: 3 weeks, He didnt hear properly, I looked at his eyes and said 3 weeks.
VO: Your Visa is approved! Good Luck!
ME: Thank You very Much sir.
Tips: Dress Formally and speak casually as some one said here. Have a smile, just a short smile every where, it will boost your confidence. speak to nearby persons if they are ready to speak.
Dress code not necessary, but if you are representing any company, its better to come in formal. Look in to the eyes of VO and have smile once you answer your questions.

Below is my experience . It may help others ..
OFC on 04/17/2015:
OFC was easy task no need to panic here.Just get your D-160 confirmation and OFC schedule and of course passport is needed . No other documents are needed . Less luggage more comfort . They won't allow any electronic device inside and bags also not allowed.
Once we proceed further after security check , concerned guys will take your bio metrics and leave the place that's all.
For visa interview you need to carry the signed DS 160 form which you have brought for OFC need to bring at the time of interview with consulate.
My interview was scheduled at 10:30 on 04/24/2015. I reached by 10:00 and went along the queue my turn came at 11:30.
The 5 persons before me got rejected . I got nervous at that point .
The VO was young lady . Exact words ...
VO : How are you doing today?
ME : thanks for asking I am good and How about you . I am good , your passport please.
VO : What is the purpose of your visit to my country?
ME :For Business meetings and technical discussions.
VO : Which company you are working for ?
ME: XYZ.. company
VO : What does your company do?
ME : Told in two sentences .
VO : What discussions?
ME: My company is developing a product. For that I have to understand requirements specification and need to discuss with technical and functional teams.
VO: What is this new product about?
ME : Explained in one sentence.
VO : Which place ?
ME : ABC city.
VO : How many Days?
ME : Not more than 2 weeks .
VO : Budget of your project? This is the first time in the forums i have seen the question? Not to panic just say what ever the figure that comes your mind
ME : I said 20 Million USD for till next March .
VO : Supervisor name?
ME : Told.
VO : Contact person in US and her contact number?
ME : Told name and I don’t remember her contact I have it in my mobile but said her email id .
Thats it . not even a single document was asked.
And finally the words came "Your Visa is approved" have a safe journey .
Tips: Just be confident dont fumble in between prepare the sentences that you want to tell VO at that time. Every one says formal attire but i went jeans (shaded) and a casual shirt tucked in . So dressing doesnt matter be confident and look at her eyes. Thats it

After completing the OFC, the very next day I had my appointment scheduled. 2 candidates out of 5 before me got rejected so I was bit nervous. The VO was an young champ somewhere in between 30-35 age group. Now its my turn.
me: Good morning Sir
VO: He didnt replied.
VO : For what company you work for ?
me: Told the company name
VO: how long you have been working with this ?
me: 1.4 years
VO :What were you doing before that ?
me: I have been working as a database administrator from past 6 years
VO: Which place you are going
me: Told the place and the state
VO: You are going to company in US ? Is that a head office ?
me: Yes I am going to my YYYY X US office and its not a head office
VO: how long you will be planning to stay ?
me: 2 weeks
VO: Is the family accompanying you ?
me: NO
VO: Are you married ?
me: Yes
That's it and lastly the golden words from him " Thank you !! Your visa is approved "
Just make sure to make an eye contact with consulate and do not try to falsify him..he can easily grasp the things if you lying anything.

After screening by the VFS staff outside,they were allowed me inside—gain a pre-check inside and pasted a token
back of my passpolt and allowed inside
Once moving on token number will be displayed on screen, and when the turn comes,approach the window and
and the staff will take our finger prints followed With a picture and thats it.l was out by B AM
Next Day at US consulate for Interview April 1st 2015830AM
Reached there by 7 and waiting outside by 7:45 or so the appointment for 7 30 and B IS AM were allowed inside And I have called later,Couple mins of screening of passport and DS Form from the staff at the beginning and attaching a token again on the passport Moved inside and waiting for the Token to arrived on the tv screen
It was hot outside & no hand kerchief,my face and shirt was soaked.Its better to carry a kerchief always
Then my turn arrived,l was called on window 10(which is outside),there were S people in front of me,Couple of student(Guess) and
couple were dependents(guess) and then my turn came in
The VO is in young chap(somewhere in between 30-40yrs(seen him on Youtube describing help about Hyderabad consulate)
was praying god(inside),the VO signalled me and asked for the passport which he was doing the same for all
Now time arrived .......
VO: Hi, How you doing
Me:l am good Sir,Thanks n How about you
VO :Ok, Tell me,What is your designation?
Me:Sr SW Engineer
VO :Which company?
ME:XYX
VO:Which Client?
ME: YYYY
VO :Are you going to work for client XYZ
ME:No Sir,l am going there to attend business requirement meetings and not to work(Single line answer)
VO:Your Visa is approved andy ou can leave
Me:Thankyou Sir
Thats it,not even single document asked I think B1 Visa is a pre-approved, Only thing first couple of words should be very confident like
greeting the VO and smile on your facelhats it, no way your is not approved
PS:Previous rejections doesn't matter up here,as long as you give justification for the type of Visa applied because have rejected thrice

Hi all,
Thanks to Immihelp, without you providing this platform to share experiences related to Visa Interviews, It would have been very Difficult .
So, since i got help from this forum, i would like to share my experience .
3 things to take care of :
Be yourself
Wear a Natural smile
Be confident (if not, still appear confident)
My interview was for 10 am 8th April at New Delhi
I reached very early around 8(traveled all night to reach) , my fault,waste of time, at 930 they asked to get in queue.
Around 10:05 I was inside following the yellow line and finally In front of the Interviewer.
Conversation:
VO: Hi, how are you doing .
Me: I am good, how about you.
VO: I am good too, (asked for the passport)
I handed over my passport.
VO: So what you do for YYYY (company name).
Me:xxx is our Clients and I work for xxx.
VO: Why you want to go ?
Me: To attend the YYYY annual conference which is scheduled in May,( told the dates )
VO: And where it is going to be .
ME: I dint hear him, i asked him again, he repeated with a smile and I answered Orlando, Florida.
Vo: Okay, and what is your designation?
Me: Business Analyst
Now he was quietly typing into his computer and said those Golden words,"Your Visa is approved".I gave him Thumps Up and moved away from there, It hardly took 40 secs.
I did not leave the eye contact and smile and it did appear that he was already convinced with my application, the way VO asked the first question, i already knew it is coming, rest seemed like he was asking me to check if i know what i applied for .
