No Response after Biomterics
Hi all,

This is my first time applying for a TRV from Canada. I hold a valid F1 visa (US) and wasn’t expecting it to take so long, since the online processing time was 14 days when I applied, and I thought my case was so easy to process, since I was just invited to attend a conference there.

Here’s my timeline:
July 2nd: Submitted online
July 3rd: biometrics requested and done the same day
No update since then...

I’m so confused. In my account, it still says “we are checking your eligibility, etc.” Even “we do not need your fingerprints...” Would that ever change as they process the application? I’ve noticed a “profile updated” status around July 10th, but then it changed back to “submitted”. Are they actually looking at it? Or they just opened it and forgot about it???

I tried to call them through any number I could possibly find, but it seems that they automatically recognize and block the US numbers. I also submitted webforms and got zero response.

I had my flight booked already (July 31st—August 8th). So I’m getting really anxious now. Is there any chance I could get my visa on time? Has anyone who applied early July received their passport request yet?

Canada Visitor Visa - Passport
Hi,

I have applied for Canadian Visa for my wife and myself. Can I send our passport together or do they have to be sent in separate pacakges.

Thanks,
Vikash

My Canada Visa experience
Hello everyone,
My passport was delivered to the Canada Visa Application Center New York on July 12th.
And I received my passport tracking number on July 16th ( At around 6:00 pm), and it said my passport has been dispatched to IRCC for process.
July 18th, passport is at IRCC office, and few hours later, visa has been dispatched from IRCC.
July 19th, I received a notification said your processed decision envelope has been collected by Canada Visa Application Center New York office.

I asked them online and the customer service said my passport has been dispatched to the courier service on July 19th at around 10 am.

But I kept checking my usps tracking number, it says “label created, not in system”. I really I’m worried about where my passport is. Anyone in the same boat? Or does anyone know that is this normal with USPS?

Thanks a million!

APPLICATION EXPERIENCE
Hi everyone, below is my timeline and experience:

April 25th - Application for study permit submitted online
April 27th - Biometrics collection letter
May 6th - Biometrics done
May 29th - Biometrics confirmation
July 5th - Passport Request letter
July 10th - Submit passport in person at VAC
July 17th - POE letter received via GIC account; Final decision posted as approved.

The entire process was really long and my travel plan made things a little more complicated. Here are some advices I was seeking but did not find during the application. Hope they could be helpful.

1. While submitting webform, choosing 'in Canada' instead of 'outside Canada' no matter from where you applied.

This was told by an CIC Call Center agent after I call 613-944-4000. I tried and got responses and help. My other three previous webforms never got responses and I chose 'outside Canada' for them.

2. No matter if you already have a valid visa or not, you would need to get a new visa stamped if you are applying a different type of visa/permit.

I know this one sounds weird, but I truly struggled with it. I have a tourist visa that would still be valid by the end of my study there. Someone told me I do not need a new TRV. However, the truth is I still need a new TRV along with a study permit.

3. You could send your passport to VAC in different country after requested passport.

I started my application in USA while I was still studying there. However, the entire process had taken much longer than expected. I needed to go back to my home before sending my passport. Therefore, I chose to finalize my application from VAC in my home country, It worked.

NOTE: Those advices are only from my personal experience and could be not applicable to other's cases.Thank you all.

FULL NY VAC EXPERIENCE
Just want to share my experience with the Canadian visa and the NY VAC. I was very scared to send my passport there considering the ultra bad reviews but I took a chance.

JUNE 25 - APPLIED ONLINE
JULY 4 - REQUEST PASSPORT LETTER (They had my biometrics from before)
JULY 10 - PASSPORT SEND AND ARRIVED BY UPS TO VAC NEW YORK @ 8 AM (LEFT IN FRONT DOOR)
JULY 12 - EMAIL: Visa application, tracking ID No. YYYY has been dispatched to the IRCC Office
JULY 15 - EMAIL: Visa application, tracking ID No.ZZZ is under process at the IRCC Office.
JULY 15 - EMAIL: Visa application, tracking ID No. YYYY – Your processed decision envelope has been dispatched from the IRCC Office
JULY 16 - EMAIL: The decision envelope for your application, tracking ID No. <refno> has been received from the IRCC Office on <scandate> at the Canada Visa Application Centre
JULY 16 - EMAIL: Visa application, tracking ID No. YYYY – Your processed decision envelope has been collected from the Canada Visa Application Centre in Canada Visa Application Centre, New York
JULY 16 - EMAIL: (FROM CIC) Your application has been updated. Please sign in to your account and check your application status and messages for more information.
JULY 16: UPS return tracking triggered.
JULY 17: Got my passport.

My advice are make 100% sure you are sending the right stuff, double check sending addresses, send one day shipping so its faster (same for the return envelope) (UPS works great) and relax. It will be ok.

NOTE: I read that the LA VAC works faster because they only process a few types of applications so, I would send my passport there if I do this again. (Visitors visa)

Thank you all.
