H1 B Visa interview
Hi All,

This site has helped me a lot in preparing for my H1 B interview. The interview at Chennai consulate was pretty simple with the below questions.

1) Where are you going in US?

2) What is the company name you are going to work for?

3) What is your US Salary?

4) Whats your highest qualification?

Best of luck for those who have the interview scheduled down the line :)

Can any one say how much time this process will take?

The VO was a lady and she was very polite and cool and following are the only questions she asked.

1. Highest qualification ?
2. Is this a New H1B or a Extension?
3. Is your Kid born in US or India ?

Thats all she said the Visa is approved and i will get the passport in a weeks Time.
No question to my wife nor she asked for any documents.

H1B interview at Hyderabad consulate FTE
Attended the H1B interview recently at Hyderabad.

The questions asked were very common like

1) Whats the company you are gonna work there ( I am direct recruit from a US organization, didnt have the concept of client/consultant)
2) I had been to the US before on B1 multiple times with the recent visit being in 2011, Hence he asked whether I went there to grab this opportunity ( This one came as a surprise to me because I never violate any laws especially when it comes to the US immigration) .
3) So then he asked how did the interview happened and I mentioned him how.
4) Other questions are about my salary,my education and my wife's info.

And the visa was approved

H1B
My sincere thanks to this forum and it helped a lot..

And i had PAI for H1b and dependents H4 at US consulate, Chennai on Aug 6th, 2012. Following are the question asked by VO

1) Where are you going in US?
2) Client name?
3) What are going to do there? (roles & resp)
4) What is your highest Degree?
5) Have you been in US ?
6) Place visited last time? ( she verified at system and she asked the year aswell)
7) Can you show your payslips?

To my wife,
1) How long you both been married?
2) Can you tell, what is the age of your kid now?
3) Are you employed now or before?
4) What is your highest degree?

Thats it... she approved the visa and got the passport in 3 days to my office.

Points to remember:
1) Get prepared with the details and speak with confidence, maintain good eye contact.
2) Be at respective consulate atleast 30 mins before the schedule
3) Keep all your documents in-order as you remember verywell.
4) Keep all your original doc with you and once you done with the interview, be there for 1-2 mins and check for your documents(don't miss any original documents)
5) VO's are very polite and they are very busy, so they can't spend more time to a candidate.
6) Answer calmly with a smile
7) Give your answer in brief and to the point. (Avoid round round answers)

Last but not least.. if you have all the documents and details handy then day is yours....

All the best to everyone!!

Thanks!
Moulee

successful stamping at mumbai consulate
I had my interview on 7th Aug, 7.45 am at Mumbai consulate

Before interview:
If you are not from mumbai, it is recommended that you stay at nearby hotel,
there are good hotels from bkc to santacruz road.
Reached consulate at 7 am (45 minute before scheduled time) but my number was like 100 and there were people from 7.30, 7.45, 8 batch. And it was raining.

The security guards did not check appointment time, they just checked interview appointment letter and let everyone inside the consulate. After security check, there is space (outside interview hall) where everyone was seated. The vfs guys checked important docs (like passport, interview letter, I797 original) and guided everyone inside the interview hall.

Here i got the token (2** number) and was nervous to see its 200+ number. Later realized it was ** and not 200 plus. After finger printing, took seat and waited for an hour for my token number.

Interview:
VO: Company Name
VO: What does company do?
VO: What will be your roles and responsibilities
VO: What is your educational qualification? From which university? (They wanted exact name as written in petition docs)
VO: Have you traveled to US before? What did you do in your last visit?
VO: To which client are you going to work?
VO: Show me your I129
I had copy of entire petition (more than 200 pages) which I could not pass through the small window. You can pass 2-3 docs through that window. Luckily I had extra I129 copy with me which I could pass through the small window.

Finally the VO said: You visa has been approved and it will be sent in 2-3 days.

Tips:
Carry extra copy of Interview appointment letter and I129
Carry everything in closed plastic folder, It can rain anytime
Be confident and do not lie to consular
Make sure you have all the docs and you are familiar with the docs
