H1-B Visa
I attented interview on 23-July-2012 at 10:15 AM. It hardly took 1 hour for whole process along with 1-2 minutes interview.

Below is the interview conversation after I wished Good morning.

VO: In California, to which client you will be working?

Myself: Yes. (I got tensed and couldn’t get the exact question. I thought he asked me whether I am going to work in California?)

VO: He repeated the same question without understanding my answer.

Myself: Said sorry and answered my client name.

VO: What will you be paid at onsite?

Myself: Said roughly as per LCA

VO: Why are you going to US?

Myself: Currently I am working for the < client name > in < project name > and they want me there at onsite for next assignment.
(Prepared in a different way but as I answered wrongly for first question I couldn’t get it).

VO said my Visa has been Approved and will be couriered in a week.

I thanked him and returned back with my originals leaving the passport.

Do’s:
1. Be confident in your answers.

Don’ts:
1. Make sure you collect all your original’s. I was little confused for a while not knowing what all I left with them.

2. Don’t get tensed if you answer wrongly and don’t lose your confidence.

Thanks to this forum as it really helped me a lot.

Nice to see all the experience shared here regarding H1B. I have also applied for H1B and my petition was filed in USCIC on May 23rd. Just curious to know around what date I will be getting ma interview. ANd also would liek to know the petition filing dates of those who had attended the interview the previous week.

I -94 verification failed at DMV
I am on H1b and my wife is H4. She applied for driver license at north bergen DMV and they said your immigration check verification failed because some possible mistake and you have to contact USCIS.
They did not provide any information where to go and how?
Do following if you face similar situation:

1. go to nearest international airport and find "deferred inspection office" or CBP office(custom and border protection).
2. Ask the immigration officer to correct any possible error.
3. once error is corrected, wait for 2 days in order to get this 'update' reflected in all the systems.

Our issue was solved in this manner. In our situation, both my i-94 and my wife's i-94 has errors so better to get both i-94 checked.

Another option is to visit USCIS field office but that will require to make an appointment via infopass.

Issued 221(g) with Sworn Statement about petition fee -- please help me !
Hi ,

I had H1B Interview in chennai on July 20th. Sadly, i received 221(g) and filed 'Sworn Statement' about petition fee payment. I am going to share my experience.
During interview time, VO had taken my documents and kept for verification. After an hour, they called to next
counter asking for petition fee. I was really surprised, and initially I told petitioner had paid the money. But she asked same question again and again. Still i said the same, then she told we are going to 'help you'. Please tell the truth. Then, i realised something wrong here. So i told truth that petition fee was paid by me. Then she given 'Sworn Statement' to file about
petition fee that i had paid to YYYY company. I was bit scared here. She told that nothing to worry it only for employer
not for you. She told taking petition fee from candidate is violation.

Then they had issued 221(g) for further document about Project and company wages.

Could you any face this kind of situation. Please share your thoughts on this.

Chennai consulate: Went at 8am for a 9.30am appt. waited in queue outside consulate and allowed inside at 8.30am. Met the VO at 9.30am and came out at 9.40am
Only question: what are you going to do in US. I just started answering that I am already working in US and in the meantime the VO scanned my DS160 and said.."Ho...H1B...never mind" and dint bother to listen to my answer and cut me out and asked me if i have read the rights pamphlet. I said yes and thats it, the visa was approved.

2 other H1B before me were also approved real quick by this VO
