H4 Visa approved in Chennai
Hi All,

First, I would like to thank this forum for creating this useful topic. The feedback shared by all the friends are useful to someone or the other.
My wife had the interview this morning at Chennai. She was there just on time. After the initial security checks, she entered into the embassy and collected the token. All the documents were verified by the Indian interviewers and she was asked to go to the next building where the Visa interview took place. She had to wait for almost an hour before she was called. The conversation is:
VO: Good morning
My wife: Good morning
VO: Can I have the documents?
My wife: Sure and handed over the folder, which contains all the documents like HDFC receipt, BEP letter, and my petition document (I797).
VO: Looks like your husband petition is processed in 2009. Why you did not come for the interview with him and can I see the old passport?
My wife: Yes, my husband's petition was processed in 2009 but he traveled to US in Oct 2010 and I did not have a passport by that time. Just now I got my passport and then she handed over the passport.
VO: Which company is your husband working?
My wife: ABC
VO: Do you have a marriage certificate?
My wife: Yes and gave the photo copy of the marraige affidavit.
VO: He just looked at it and said "YOUR VISA IS APPROVED AND YOU WILL GET IT IN A WEEK"
My wife: Thank you

Thats it. It went smooth. She was little nervous before going to the interview but she got time to look what is happening around as she was waiting for an hour before taking the interview. She answered all the questions and we got the desired result.

Be cool and composed, especially for the dependant Visas. Their only motive is to verify the documents and make sure that dependent remains dependent in US without working.

Thanks, once again for sharing all your feedback.

First, Let me thank immihelp site and persons who shared their experiences here.

I will write my experience in brief.
My slot was 10.00AM, Today 22nd March 2011.
I reached embassy by 9.00AM and waited in the Q. By 9.15 at front gate, officials checked my DS-160 Confirmation page and Appointment letter followed by security checks. I was directed to the VFS counters with the ticket number given at gate. VFS official took my passport, Visa Fee reciept, I-797 Notice of action, I-129 Petition and LCA. He put these documents into a folder and returned to me. The assisting staffs directed me to the Finger scanning section and took the scans. From there, I went to the next building for Visa interview. I waited there for 10 minutes and at 10.50, my ticket number displayed and went to the counter. The conversation is given below...

Me: Good Morning Sir

H1B/H4 Approved in Chennai
First of all, I am really thankful to this forum and to the people who have shared their experiences.

My company has processed L1-Blanket in March 2010 and it was denied in May 2010 in US Consulate. Again I have applied for L1-B Individual in JUNE 2010 and the petition was denied in OCT 2010. My company processed H1-B in Nov 2010 and today my visa was approved today . One thing to remember is that Petition denial will not come under Visa Denial.

Atlast here is my experience today in Chennai. My interview was scheduled at 10:15 AM today. But I reached the Consulate by 08:45 AM. Outside the Consulate they verified the Appointment Letter and Confirmation page and gave a token number. Today Consulate was heavily crowded. After verification of BEP Letter and the documents I was allowed to go the next building. There we have waited for 20 min after which my token number was displayed.

Me: Good Morning Sir
VO: Good morning
Me: How are you today?
VO: I am good. So which location are you going to?
Me: Replied
VO: What are you going to do there?
Me: I am going to develop, design and implement the business requirements of my client by translating them into Technical Solutions.
VO: Which department?
Me: I am going to work with YYYY Client.
VO: What are you going to do there?
Me: I am going to develop, design and implement the business requirements of my client by translating them into Technical Solutions.
VO: What is your salary there?
Me: xxxxx $ per annum
VO: Who is your onsite manager and where does he work?
Me: Replied
VO: How many people are working in Client location from your compnay?
Me: Told
VO: Looks like your L1B was denied before?
Me: Yes sir. It was denied 10 months back.
VO: Which company are you working for then?
Me: Same company

VO: When did you get married?
My wife: told
VO: Can you show me your marriage certificate?
My wife: Shown
VO: Where was your marriage held?
My wife: told

That's it. The most awaited moment came and VO told " Have a nice trip Sir. Your visa is approved and you will be receiving your passport in a week's time".

In an EVC/EC model, is there an option to mention the Specific client name in the H1B Data Collection docs. I guess all the H1B petitioners (especially in EVC/EC Model) they put their own employment location in this place.

VO: Good Morning!
Me: Replied

VO: Why are you going to US?
Me: Replied in one line my desgination and for which company

VO: What does your company do?
Me: Replied in one line

VO: What is your client name:
Me: Replied

VO: Do you have client letter? Also, give me other H1 documents that you have
Me: I gave. (Luckily, I had one old letter. This letter did the trick and its very much required. So, please get this letter from your client.)

VO (To my wife): How long you been married?
Wife: Replied

VO (To my wife): Your birth place?
Wife: Replied

VO: Alright, your visas are approved!!!!!!
Me and Wife: Thank You!!

This all took around 5 minutes. Mine was E-V-C earlier and I was refused my prvious H1 at Mumbai. I got another from my vendor and so this time I was E-C. If you have contract agreement and client letter, you are bound to get approved.

Thank you all....

HI All,

i have my interview in chennai for h1b on march 18 2011. THe interview went smooth, until the VO looked at my petition which has diff client mentioned than my present employment. I actually work in an EVC model. the VO took all the contract agreements, Purchase order, I797, I129 and said that he will send my case to USCIS for examination. Interview went for 20 minutes where he asked all the details like my proj desc, job duties, salary, highest qualification. The VO gave me a blue slip with ticking additional administative processing, and said we will contact you if you need to siubmit your passport and returned it to me.

I have the new LCA for the job that i am doing. only thing is in the petition the client is different, but we changed the LCA for new client.

What are my chances of getting approval? Is it better to wait for the process to complete or apply new h1b in coming april? How long will it take for the process to complete or to know the status? Please anyone in this situation reply me.....

By the way the VO didn't request any additional documents from my side in the blue form.
