Already have L1 and now going for H1
Hello Guys,

I have an L1 visa from my current employer, but didn't go to USA as the requirement was taken over by someone else. Now I have got the H1 approval and going for the interview in Jan. Will it be a problem? Is there any chance of asking any Q's regarding this issue? If so, what kind and how to answer them...? Plz help...

Thanks,
JP

H4 Visa appointment
Hi friends,

I have booked an appointment (H1B visa) for myself on 27 January, first time.

Can i take my wife and son alongwith me for their visa.

Should i have to take appointment for them separately.
Now the dates are available only in April.

I have seen adding application in one of the option while creating new application. Now i dont see that option.

Can you please tell me how to add spouse and son application (156&157)along with my application.

Thanks for your information.

with regards,

bala

Well..I am really glad that I found this website..it was so useful for me. Anyways who has gone to the US consulate would know what kind of nerve wrecking experience and such a forum, which provides so much guidance, is really need. Thanks to the guys who share there experiences and those who patiently answers all those queries..

Well to my experience now..

I saw this forum just a week before my visa appt. However I found the check list and also how important client documentation was..So I ensured I have all that stuff..One mistake I made was that I did not check my petition forms thoroughly..There can be mistakes in those too...

My interview was at 9.45am, when I got into the consulate, but I did not get called till 12.30 or so. My interview with officer was pretty brief..
Officer: can you give me your degree certificates..
Me: I gave them.
Officer: is your company client based or product based.
Me: client based
Officer: What kind of work will you be doing.
Me: started explaining that.
[He was checking the documents meanwhile and suddenly asked..]
Officer: where is this attachment?
[ I-129 forms have a H-classfication supplement for H visa and in this form, candidates expertise and job duties are supplied. My forms however said "refer to the attachment" and this was missing]
Me: searched for it and produced some letter which was sent to me by my employer.
Officer: This is not it.
Me: Apologised and said I could not find it.
Officer: OK. you will have to come back. I cannot issue you a visa now.
He gave me a 221g where he wanted "the missing attachment" and "client info" and also ticked the drop box option.
It took me a while to gather the required info and then I gave the documents in the VFS dropbox office. I gave all the documents which were requested in the 221g letter. For Client info, I provided a contract order between my employer and a client company. (A fax copy). And two weeks later, I recieved my visa.

One thing I noticed while in consulate was there were so many people being refused and simply because they were not prepared well. Some forgot degree cert originals. Some forgot client details..so on. I feel that we ought to give more attention to interview preparation. Sites like immihelp help a lot. And once you have good documentation, there is no reason to be worried about refusal.

Thanks once again immihelp.

This site helped me a lot before my stamping, I have attended mumbai consulate on 19th dec. It was so cool. I suggest you to approach mumbai consulate, if possible. My interview went like this-

VO:why r u moving to the US company?
ME: i was offered a better role and better pay.
VO: what is ur US salary?
Me: YYYY
VO: who is your client?
ME: YYYY ZZZ
VO: How long u r working with the current(indian) company?
ME: 3 months
VO: so u r going to quit the current company?
ME: yes.
VO: did u tell ur current employer that you are going to quit?
ME: I said 'no'
VO: Then why r u telling to me?
ME: I got struck, i have no words, she felt like she is the HR of my current company.
VO: before joining the current company did you tell to the current employer about ur H1 processing?
Me: no
VO: why didn't u tell to ur curent employer?
Me: i was not asked abt that, i didn't tell them.
VO: you should have told to ur current employer that u r going to quit after getting H1?
ME: i thought she is not going to give me the visa and said 'How can i say that to my employer'.

Oh man she was a white american in the second counter, no smile on her face. At the end she said i am issuing u the visa.

I have never expected this question from her. I suggest u to stick to ur words. take a couple of moments before u answer anything. they always try to screw in someway or the other.

Finally mumbai consulate is much much better than chennai. THEY DID NOT ASKED ME A SINGLE DOCUMENT TO SHOW.

cheers
kishore
