Successful H1 and H4 AT CHENNAI CONSULATE
These contents may be useful to 221 g canidates.

My interview with the first time(LAST WEEK OF SEP) was not at all satisfying as the VO looked very angry and asked only question abt
VO: Show me your degree certificates:

mE:Showed the certificates
VO had a look at his computer and checked something from the subjects in MCA course curriculam and simply gave me a blue form without even asking the client info even though I did not have any info on this.
We said thank you and came off.

Second time(2 WEEK OF NOV)-:-

I and my wife were standing in counter no 7 where a young lady was taking a interview.
She was interactive and was giving away very visas easily.

There was counter 6 where another lady was strict and was so many questions .I saw one guy who had a blue form already had been issued blue form again as the requested info was not correct.

When my turn came the lady I gave all the requested info in one consignement.
sHE asked my educational qualifications and later said your docs would be verified by one of my colleagues so please take your seats and we waited for another 2 hoirs to get tour turn and this time no6 lady called us.
ME:Good after noon mam
VO:Good after noon

VO:your educational qualification
ME:MCA

VO:where is the requested info-client letter+ W2 forms
me:right in that consignment

VO:Who is the client
ME:the client is YYYY

VO:how long is the project
ME:takes 12 - 18 months in production

VO:What i sth eduration of the prject:
me: 1 and half years

VO:can you decsribe what project outline
me:Described teh project

VO:Why do you want to change your job?
ME:wanted to work in diff work culture

She went inside and contacted some of her senior colleagues.it was 5 miute discussion on w2 forms.
She returned all the papers and went inside again.
I though we would be given blue form again.
Then she she came again and said your visa is approved and pay the fee at counter no1
sHE KEPT THE Pp'S..RECEIVED THE PP after 2 days.

be confident and give your best.

DDs structure
Hi,
This information is for the candidates who are attending the consulate after receiving 221g.

You need to pay Rs 2300 as issuance fee. If you have a 2200 DD already then you can take a split DD for Rs100.

But, If you are going after 1st dec then the consulate won't accept split DDs. They will accept the DD for Rs 2300 only not 2200 + 100.

So pls make your arrangements accordingly.

Thanks,

Successful H1B at Delhi after 212e requirement
Hi Friends,

Thanks all for sharing your experiences. and after gaining from this, it is my turn to pay back off.

About 11 months back, I attended interview at delhi for H1 and was sent back with yellow slip to bring waiver for 212e rule which was annotated on my J1 visa. This calls for 2 years of stay in home country.

I came to know from friends that it takes almost a year to get this waiver where as i was required to spend 9 months in India to fulfill the requirement. So I decided to stay back.

I went to consulate on 21st nov.. just 10 days before I finish a year after my last visit. Appointment was not required as it was clearly mentioned on my yellow letter.

I went at about 10.30 to consulate, had tea at a road side stall just outside the consulate. and stood in the que. Security at the enterance noted down my passport no. and let me inside. Then I was in the que where they check the documents. I thought I have already submitted DS156/157 last time so it is not required this time. But I took one with me. As expected I was asked to sumbit the form. I gave it in a minute. The officer was in a bad mood. He asked me where was my I797. I took 5 seconds to take it out. and he got angry. he said I came for the second time and dont even know what documents I should keep ready. So guys be ready with ur DS156/157 and I797, and DDs.
Then he asked my yellow letter and I was little down by his gestures. I couldnt hear him properly and he gave me a very cold look. I felt as I am not gonna get my visa today.

Then I was sent inside after a security check. Inside the counsulate there was a guy who was guiding people. He saw the yellow letter with me and asked if i am coming for the second time. I said yes and he told me to go to the Q for interview. (Otherwise people should go for fingerprints and then should submit the 441 Rs draft to TT Services desk). After standing in the Q for about 2 hours, my turn came. Fortunately there was only one guy at that time taking interviews and he was the person who issued me yellow letter last year. My interview lasted for 5 mins and was like this....

Me: Good afternoon
VO: hi, how are you doing?
Me: Good, thank you.
(I handed over my passport, I797)
VO: So you are coming for the second time?
Me: Yes, I had 212e rule on my J1 and was asked to bring waiver for that.
VO: So do u have it now?
Me: No, I was supposed to spend 9 months to fulfill the requirement and it takes about a year and a half to bring the waiver.
( thats the fact !!)
VO: so where are you going now?
Me: YYYY in ZZZ.
VO: ZZZ? (searched something on this PC)
VO: where are you working now?
Me: YYY.
VO: What you did on ur J1?
Me: It was cultural sharing... training on globalisation.. and interaction with our counterparts.
VO: Looks like you had to stay back because of ur J1.
Me: Yes ..!! and it was YOU who did this to me. Last year I attended my interview with you.
(I couldnt stop myself sharing my agony)
VO: oh ..! is that so??
VO: Enjoy your stay in USA. You are all set. Your visa is through.
Me: Oh..Thanks a lot.

Surprisingly... I was not asked for any documents about client , company in US or any questions that are usually asked in the interviews.

I was in to formals with a tie (which i specially bought previous night) but I think its not necessary. BUt nothing wrong in going all perpared. Who knows it might play its role !!

So friends ... This is how was my experience with Delhi Consulate. VOs and all the staff (including the angry verification officer) was good, kind and helpful. and I had very nice time which I'll never forget in my life.

H1-B interview at Delhi consulate
Hi Friends....Let me extend my heartiest thanks to all those people who shared their experience through this site. It was exteremely helpful , so much thanks once again as this really helps you complete all gather all possible docs before hand and avoids unnecessary delay...

There was a long que and my turn came after a wait of almost 1 hour...I was lil(to be honest very much) nervous while joining the que. But in couple of moments I turned very comfortable while talking to other people in que...And i guess thats really good thing to do....Here is the set of question they asked me:

VO: Hello, how are you doing today?
Me: I am doing great and how about you?
VO: Smile.
ME: Handed her the passport containing stappled
    I797C,DS-156,DS-157( TTS people only stappled
    it with passport)
VO: From how long you are working with current
    company - my_company_name
ME: no_of years ( I will advice to tell it
precisely, like 2 years and five months)
VO: What are you doing in you current company..
Me: explained a lil...
VO: How many people are working with your company
    in US
Me: no_of_employees
VO: How much salary they are offering you?
Me: $salary USD
VO: Oki, I am approving your visa and you will
recieve it withing 3-4 working days

And I recieved my passport in 2 days only. So, overall it was very comforable interview. I was worried about their accent, but they are very much clear about what they asked and its easy to understand them.

Friends, dress smartly as per weather only....Smart formals and a descent tie will defintely be advantageous( Better make sure to wear Tie) and carry all original docs. Main checklist goes as:

1) Original filled and signed DS -156
2) Original filled and signed DS-157
3) Original Offer Letter
4) I-797
5) I-129
6) LCA letter(Form Certified)
7) US-company brouchure
8) US company snaps
9) If working with any particular client, then
letter from client "mentioning the name of
    H1-B candidate"
10) Original Passport
11) 10th Certificate and DMC
12) 12th Certificate and DMC
13) Detail Mark Sheets.
14) Bachelor's Degree
15) Earlier experience letters

Last not least....LUCK HAS VERY IMPORTANT ROLE TO PLAY!!! Good luck and may good help you all....

Thanks
