Getting a license on an H4 visa
Im trying to get a license for my wife who is on an H4 visa the DMV doesnt require a SSN and are asking for a 2nd proof of I.D. also they dont accept other countries documents.

I work in india and the company applied for my H1 using the premium processing option. I got my H1 without any hassels. The only problem was that i had to wait for 3.5 hrs for a 60 sec interview.
Here are the questions:
How long have you been with company ZZZ?
What is your job description? In detail?
Who is your companies client?
When did you get back from your previous visit?
Show me your degree certificate.
Thats about it.

I attended interview 20 days back, consulate officer didn't ask much questions, but he asked
1. List of all candidates petitioned by the employer + exact time which they joined and worked abd their current whereabouts (Since my employer is a consultant)
2. Interior exterior Photograghs of the company (15).photos of the H/L Worker will be deployed.
3. provide how the H/L worker will be employed during the next 12 months.
4.W-2 forms for all the people employed by the petitioner.
Ensure that those documents are with you.

H1B renewal
My H1B visa expired in Sept 2004 and I had been to Bangalore, India on a three week vacation in Nov/Dec 2004. I was under the impression that drop-box facilities were available at the US consulates. So I ended up looking for visa appointments through ttsvisas.com only in Aug/Sept time frame.
Unfortunately I did not get any suitable dates in Chennai as they were all booked, had to go to Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on Nov 24th for renewal.
Had minor hiccups at the entrance as the photo was not of proper dimensions and was asked for my SSN card and all related documents (I797, DS156, DS157, Employment Letter). I was asked to return with new photos taken at a place about 15 min away from the Consulate.
Returned in an hour and had to stand in the queue all over again. Once I was let in, the whole process was easy. The Consulate officer looked at my I797/passport with previous F1/H1B visa stampings and asked me where I worked and my present salary. He smiled at my reply and approved the visa after going through the fingerprints routine.
He did not ask me for bank statements, salary slips or employment verification letter. Received my visa by mail in 3 days time.

On Dec 13, my wife & baby went to Chennai Consulate for stamping. My situation - I am in the US on an H1 extension and an extended I94. Revalidaion of Visa was not done beause of change in rules since July 15'04. Also, recently i was posted to a new worksite by my company & i had an LCA for that place
Questions asked:
1. When did you get married / How long did you know him before marriage ?
2. How long has he been in the US?
3. Since how many years has been working with the same company (I am working with an Indian S/w major)?
4. When do you intend to travel?
5. Is he coming to India meanwhile?
None of the documents were asked, other than the regular I797, I129, LCA & marriage cert in Xerox, child's birth cert. & my passport copy. Asked my wife to pay the fees ...
