H1b Dropbox at Mumbai 2018
Hello,

My recent experience with H1b visa renewal stamping -
--Dropbox = Feb 8th, 2018
--Received my passport and 221G = Feb 15th, 2018
--Interview date = Feb 16th, 2018

During the Interview VO asked me few questions -
--Employer Name?
--Annual Salary?
--Designation in Company?
--Where do live in the US?
--Which university in the US did you graduated from?

Then at the end of interview V.O says "Your visa is approved and you'll get your passport in 2-3 days"

--Case date created = Feb 9th 2018
--Date updated = Feb 16th, 2018 (Administrative Processing)
--Next date updated = Feb 21st, 2018 (Administrative Processing)
--Last date updated = Feb 28th 2018 (Administrative Processing)

------------------------------------ Then after waiting for an eternity ------------------------------------------------
---Recent Date updated = April 2nd 2018 and status changed back to Application Received from Administrative Processing.

What does this means? Has anyone been in same situation? Any feedback or comment regarding it will be appreciated.

Thanks!

H1B experience Mumbai
My first H1B visa stamping in Mumbai in March 2018.

Background : F1 -> OPT extension -> H1B. Got RFE but case was approved at the end.
Work: Mechanical engineer, working at client site through my employer. Employer is reputed US based company.

OFC:

Just took DS 160, passport. At entrance, they checked DS 160 barcode, put a sticker on passport. Then they checked DS 160 against passport and gave me a token to join a queue for fingerprints. When my turn came, they took fingerprints and photo. Whole process took 15-20 minutes.

Visa:

Reached there about 30 minutes before, saw a very long queue. My queue started after 15-20 minutes past the time.
Me: good morning officer and slid I 979, passport
VO: Scanned passport, probably the record came on the screen. Asked same company same position?
Me: yes
VO: gave back I 797, what is your highest level of education?
Me: Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
VO: What is your annual salary?
Me: My annual salary is x
VO: Did you get the white pamphlet?
Me: Yes
VO: Your passport will be ready in 5 to 7 business days
Me: Thanks

There was a couple before me. VO gave them a white slip, told visa cannot be approved this time and needs further admin processing. Every case is different. If your case is good and strong, you should not worry.
Good luck to everyone.

H1b & H4 Visa Status
My wife & I went for the visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in Chennai on March 29th. The consular officer told us that our visa is approved and will be ready for the collection within 4 to 5 working days. Today, i checked the status of the visa and mine its showing issued whereas for my wife its showing under administrative processing, which the Embassy says could take several weeks.

Is this common or something i should worry about.

H1B visa experience
This was in May 2016 - I know this is long overdue, my apologies for the very late post but I hope this helps those attending their H-1B visa interview. Good luck!

My Visa officer was very curt, never smiled, rejected the visa application of the guy ahead of me (but this person had submitted some fake documents, and his highest degree of education was high school). When it was my turn he asked me the following questions -
1. Where was I working - I work for a semiconductor company, and when I mentioned the name, he said he never heard of it.
2. Asked me how many employees were employed by the company - I said around 10,000, he was very surprised - and I wasn't lying.
3. My job title
4. My annual pay
5. What my job duties involve
6. Asked me if I pursued my Master's in the United States - I said yes and mentioned the university I got my degree from
7. My Father's occupation and income - this was a very unusual question but I guess he asked me this because I went to a private university which is known for its high fees.

These were the questions I was asked - nothing unusual - the very typical questions asked for H-1B such as employer, title, pay, job duties etc.

I was thankfully granted a visa, they held onto my passport. It was ready for pick-up after 2 days.

Wish I had posted this experience earlier, but from what I hear from my friends who attended their visa interviews recently, these questions are still relevant.

I wish the best for everyone attending theirs, and hope it goes well and hassle-free.

H1B Stamping - Is it a risk to travel India just for family Visit?
Hi All,

I have H1B Petition valid till May-2019, I am planning to travel India for family Visit and will need to get my H1B and H4 stamped (no Drop Box eligible). It will be my second stamping and I am with same employer from the day I entered US (Different Client though). I am hearing that there are lot of 221g being issued these days. Is it really a risk to travel just for visit, there is not urgency to travel as such.

Your responses are well appreciated.

Thanks.
