Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days.
For more information, please visit U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad.

PROS :
If your profile is put under random audit ( Admin Processing). Enjoy your time with Family and Friends. Make the most of it :)
CONS : unnecessary delay in response without proper ask/notification adding more ambiguity and cancellation of future travels/Trip to US.

Opting Visa interview even eligible for dropbox
Hi, I am seeing lot of things happening these days. Most of the dropbox applicants are being called for fingerprints and interviews.

Does anyone opted for visa interview though they are eligible for dropbox? I know this is not preferable as per guidelines. But i am wondering if anyone did that and what was their experience.

Your answer really helps lot of people.

Regarding visa renewal
I am in following boat -
 - H1b
 - Bachelors and Masters in Biotech from IIT Delhi
 - Working in Credit Card firm (employed by the same firm) - Data Science
 - 8 years of experience in analytics (6 in current company - 3 in India and 3 in US)
 - Visa valid till Aug 2018
 - I 797 valid till mar 2020

I have to travel to India in Jun 2018 for my own marriage. Given above information is it recommended to go for visa interview (because of so many 221g and rejections)?

221G Chennai
Hi All ,

my Wife and I went to visa interview in Chennai on Feb 23 and after the regular questions Visa officer told that my case requires additional administrative processing and gave me a blue slip and mentioned that they dont require any additional documents. I was checking the status online next few days and nervous since my return was booked for 5th March. On 3rd March late evening I got the status updated as issued and passport ready for pick up. I picked my passport and got back on time.

One thing I noticed is out of 5 people (including me) went to that VO 4 got the blue slip. It seems this is common these days.

Myself and wife attended interview received one blue slip
Dear Friends

Myself (H1b) and my wife(H4) both attended interview together. She Visa Officer looked at my wife and said she needs more time process my wife's application and give us one blue slip. The Visa Officer looked at me and said I will get my passport before my wife gets her passport.

Curious to know what this means ? Does this mean that my visa is approved and my wife visa is under administrative processing ? Or does it mean that both of us are under administrative processing although we received only one blue slip ?

Thanks

Administrative Processing - No updates since March 7th
Hi all,

I had my interview on March 7th in Mumbai. Interview went well and the VO kept my passport and said my visa was issued. I haven't seen any update in my case till now. CEAC website shows Case Created & Updated - March 7. Case updated date has not changed.

Sent an email to USTraveldocs and they couldn't provide any update. Simply said, you'd have to kindly wait.

Not sure how much longer it will take.

I'm scheduled to travel back on March 26.

H1B Visa interview
Eligible for drop box. Me and my wife we both are on H1b and working fulltime for very reputable firms for a long time and had no issues in the past going in person. Dropped of the documents on feb 21st 2018. Feb 23: got an email to attend for fingerprints and interview.(my wifes visa was approved though and she got her passport back by feb 24th). Interview date: March 19th. Initially we planned our trip only for two weeks.

March 19th: Attended the interview.
1. Took the email confirmation letter and Aadhar to the consulate.
2. Was directed to counter 6 to collect passport and then directed to counter 7 to give finger prints

Interview at counter 11
VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning

VO: Give me your I1797
Me: gave it

VO: Let me use my super power and guess. You are F1 to opt to h1b right?(she was already having a white slip in her hand)
Me: yes

VO: Have you ever been out of status
Me: No

VO: Employer name and salary
Me: YYYY

VO: State and city of workplace
Me: ZZZ

VO: Highest education
Me: MS

VO: There are no issues with your application, everything looks fine. But we need just couple of days for admin processing and handed me 221g with no documents required. She kept the passport with her and handed me 221g with the case number to track.

I am working fulltime from last 6 years and never had an issue.I am regretting dropping off the documents. She didnt give me any reason, just said its formal and just need couple of days.

H1B Drop box
Hi friends,

I see that many of them getting fingerprints request after 4-5 days of submitting the documents thru Dropbox option. Is the process changed? I have attended Dropbox during 2016 August and it was on the same day they have taken my documents and fingerprints.

Please help me in understanding.
