H1B - 221g blueslip--> approved
Planned my trip for two weeks and managed to get back in time despite 221g

Feb 26- dropped of my documents via dropbox at VFS bangalore

March 1 - administrative processing
March 7- Received my passport via bluedart along with 221g with blue slip requesting to appear for interview at Chennai consulate.

March 8 - appeared for interview. Was asked about type of work, salary, highest education level, which other visas I had before (in my case was J1 and F1) and the consulate officer approved the visa

March 9 - status changed to issued
March 10 - received the passport with visa via bluedart

March 12 - flight back

My two cents - pay for the premium delivery. It saves you a lot of time and hassle and enables you to make quick decisions.
For example - March 7 - since I had the passport in hand with the blue slip, I was able to book a train ticket immediately for travelling the same day to chennai. If I had to go to the pick up location, I wouldnt have known about the 221g until a few hours later and hence might not have been able to travel the same day and hence would have had to reschedule my flight. Paying for the premium delivery is far cheaper than rescheduling your flight.

Good luck

H1B to L1B transfer for same Employer
I travelled to US 4 months (Oct 2017) back with H1B to a Location for client A and within 2 months I had to move to different location for client B under same Employer. My H1B was about to expire in 9 month and hence my employer filed for location transfer as well as extension. My petition went to RFE and got denied 2 days back.I am currently in US (location B). I need to continue in the location for client B and there is no way to work for old client A.

I am yet to get the official notice stating the reason for denial. What are the possible way out for me. My employer is ready to take up any measure to make me continue in US. I am eligible for L1B.

1. Can I file for appeal against my denial from location B
2. Try for H1B to L1B conversion (as i am working in a specialized field) from my new location B.
3. Should I go back to old location A and file for location transfer and extension again from there. Please guide

H1B VISA Chennai - Got 221(g) Blue slip

Hi Friends,
I had very unique experience @Chennai consulate. despite having all genuine documents my VISA was not issued.

I got 221g Blue slip for H1B Visa stamping @Chennai consulate mentioning they need todo administration processing.

VO asks for following documents and took copies of all of them:
- All Passports
- i797 petition
- Client letter
- Employer verification letter
- LCA
- i129

VO asked following questions.

VO: Who is your petitioner?
ME: Answered

VO: Who is your client ? Is there any vendor inbetween ?.
ME: Answered

VO: What is the work location?
ME: Answered

VO: What is your highest education ?
ME: Answered

VO: What if your salary ?
ME: Answered

Questions to my spouse:
VO : How long you been married? : Answered
VO : What is your highest level of edcucation? : Answered
VO : What is your daughter's age ? : Answered

Despite giving all answers, VO gave me yellow slip which he mentioned it will allow me to remain in the building and I can wait in the waiting area while he checks my documents. I waited there for around 15-20 minutes.

After that one Indian lady called me on one of the VISA counter and asked my project documents. She said she dont want anything but LCA and i-129 copy. They scanned all my documents and made a copy. And she asked me to wait again in the waiting area.

After around 20 minutes, same VO comes back to same window and called me there. He handed me 221(g) blue slip(With administration processing option ticked) and told me that they are refusing my application for administrative processing and need more time to make decision on my application. They said they have all documents and I will be contacted if they need anymore documents/information.

He returned my all documents and passports and ask me to leave for the day.

Status on the CAES state department site shows "Administrative processing".

Any one got the same 221(g) blue slip experience or in the same boat ? Any information on this topic will be highly appriciated.

Cheers!.

H1B and H4 Stamping - Drop Box at Bangalore
I recently got my H1B and H4 stamping (spouse and child) done through drop box at Bangalore, I work in EC model. My experience below for all the folks who are concerned about H1B Visa stamping.

Background: My first H1B stamping through employer A expired on June 30 , 2017(extension through employer A was approved until 21/12/2018). I changed to employer B in July 2017. The H1B transfer petition went into RFE due to wage level 1 in LCA. Employer B decided to file an amendment to the transfer petition in Nov 2017 with the revised wage level (level 2 ) in premium processing. The amended petition from employer B also recieved RFE for Client letter. After providing the client letter it was approved in January. Following are the timelines of my visa stamping.
02/13 and 02/14 travelled to India.
02/15 : Submitted my documents at drop box location in Bangalore. Submitted passports, Drop box confirmation letter, DS 160 for all 3 of us, Initial I797 Approval(used for first H1 Stamping) and the recent Approved I797(for the amended petition from employer B).
02/16 : Case Opened, Visa status tracking at https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==
02/17 and 02/18 : Weekends
02/19 : Consulate Holiday
02/20: Status - Case Opened
02/21: Status - Visa Issued and in final processing
02/22: Status - Visa Issued and Passport status - Preparing for delivery
02/23: Status - Visa Issued and Passport status - Available for pick up at 11:00 AM. Picked up the passports at 01:00 pm

03/07: Traveled back to USA with Chicago Port of Entry. At POE, the only questions asked were
1. Purpose of your visit? 2. What is your designation? No questions to spouse.

H4 221G at Kolkata
My wife went for her H4 interview at Kolkata consulate and was given a 221G pink slip. They have checked the box "Other processing". Does anyone know what the other processing might mean?

Questions asked:

1. What visa?
2. H1 spouse 797 copy and visa (I haven't been to India so there is no H1 visa stamped on my passport)
3. What company H1 works? What city?
3. Are you working? (My is wife is on H4EAD)
4. Do you have any kids?

She kept my wife's passport and said it needs additional processing and said she doesn't need any additional document. I am on FTE so not sure what they wanna check specially with H4.

Anyone got idea what "other processing" might mean in 221g pink slip?

I-94 EXPIRED, BUT I-797 STILL VALID
Yesterday I came to know that my I-94 is already expired on 31 th Dec 2017, and right now I am out of status, but I have approved I-797, which has expiration Sep, 2019.

When I recently entered into US on 18th Dec 2016, POE officer put 31th Dec 2017 date on I-94, because I have visa stamp from my previous employer expired on 31 th Dec 2017 , and officer did not ask for my I-797 from my current employer which, has expiry date Sep, 2019. Now I have no idea what to do. Since It has been more than 6 months to my I-94 expiration, I might have to leave USA immediately and I will be ban to enter USA for 3 years on any visa. After googling about this issue came to know following are the options for me:-

1. Go to near by CBP office and get I-94 updated(its too risky, specially, it has been more than 6 months to I-94 expiration)

2. Apply for H1B extension with Nunc pro tunc process.

This is very serious situation for me. Please help me what is the best way to solve this problem. I will really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

First H1B Hyderabad - Success
I am one of those guys who was scared to visit my home country due to stamping issues. I went to US on L1B in 2010. And switched to H1B in 2011, later changed couple of employers now a fulltime employee, even though I was on EC model prior to this I didn’t dared enough for stamping. Finally I decided to visit India irrespective of my stamping fears.

28Feb: Biometrics
1 Mar: Interview

My previous guy had some issues, his visa rejected earlier it seems VO grilled him like anything and rejected his visa by handing over his passport back (I still remember that guy literally begging her for approval and finally he said to VO ‘You are ruining my career’). I thought this might have huge impact on mine. VO didn’t even responded to my greeting, she is right on question no 1.

Q1: Your student visa rejected, do you have any other issues?
Me: No

Q2: What is the purpose of your visit?
I am going on H1B specialty occupation (she didn’t even listen to my answer she moved on to next question)

Q3: What are your roles?
Answered (hardly she listened for 20secs and moved to next question)

Q4: What is your salary?
XX (I am about to finish other digits but she moved to next question)

Q4: Which state do you live?
As she is switching questions too soon, I missed this one and answered something else but she repeated the question.

Q5: Is your wife your dependent?
No, she has her own H1

Questions to dependent (My son 8 years)
Q1. Do you have any siblings?
Answered

Q2. Where is she now?
Answered

VO asked me what about her visa status, I replied she is a US citizen.

And the golden words.

None of my documents are touched. I’d say be fair in filling Ds-160 all my questions are from Ds-160. If you wish to visit your family and friends in India just do it.

Passport recevied on Mar 6th.

Regards,
Mallesh
