First time H1. Administrative processing since 4 weeks
Hi,

My Visa Interview was held on December 8, 2017 at New Delhi Embassy 10.00 AM.
VO said that my Visa is approved and I will get my passport back within 7 days.
But it has been more than 4 weeks now and there is no update on my case.

On CEAC website:-
Case created- Dec 8
Case last updated- Dec 8

No updates since then.

I am working full time with a Fortune 500 employer for last 2.5 years. F1 to H1 conversion.
Any idea what is causing the delay?
When will my visa be approved?

Visa extension stamping - New Delhi
Dec 20th: Submitted drop box documents - H1B extension, direct hire (same employer since last 7 years), I-140 filed in 2015
Dec 26th: Status on CEAC 'Application Received'
Jan 2nd: The CEAC status had not changed since Dec 26th, called US Travel Docs call center - was told to wait for status change. That night, emailed NivND(AT)state.gov asking if I need to come in for an interview or additional info was needed.
Jan 3rd: Received reply from embassy: "Your application is refused under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act for administrative processing. After administrative processing is complete, the application will be reconsidered. U.S. immigration law requires that additional steps be completed in some cases before a file can be advanced for adjudicative review. In general, most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview; however, timing varies based on the individual circumstances of each case. "
Jan 3rd: CEAC status changed to 'Administrative processing'. No status on USTravelDocs website.
Jan 4th: CEAC status says 'Issued'
Jan 5th: Status on USTravelDocs website 'Passport ready for pickup'

Advice: Allocate at least 10 business days for visa stamping. Contact USTravelDocs first to get an update, if the reply is not helpful, then email the embassy (wait at least a week from interview/document submission). Status on CEAC website usually updated around 2 PM IST.

H1B Dropbox Hyd
In my 4th year of H1B, changed employer ( direct hire, full time) 6 months ago. Went to drop documents at Hyd consulate on 27th December. Got a phone call/email to come in for fingerprints and interview on 16th Jan. My flight is on 17th Jan. Does anyone know if we can request them to prepone the interview?

Admin Processing since 4 weeks
Hello everyone,

I had my first time H1B stamping interview in Delhi on December 8th. After the interview, the VO communicated the VISA is approved and I should expect my passport in 5 to 7 business days (no 221g was handed out). Since then my status on CEAC website hasn't changes and I have not been contacted for any additional documentation.

Since it's been 4 weeks of absolutely zero updates, I am speculating that probably my app is undergoing security clearances/ background check. On many forums people say security clearances are generally resolved within 30 days unless it comes under extreme vetting, TAL or country of nationality alert list. Since I fall in neither of the criteria I am worried regarding this delay in getting any update. I am a FT direct hire with a masters from US.

Anyone with such an experience or waiting since early December with no 221g?

Thank you.

H1B Renewal Stamping (Chennai)
Dec 4 -Turned in for Dropbox Submission.
Dec 12 - Got 221(g) blue form asking me to come in for an interview. No documents asked.
Dec 14 - Attended interview. Few simple questions. VO says visa approved and collected my passport. but says there is a delay due to the printing issue. So, he gives me a 221(g) blue with just the case number for reference.

Case last updated - Dec 14. says Administrative Processing. its been 14 working days now.

Been in the US for 10 years. The H1B extension was already done. Came to India for stamping.

Did anyone who went in for H1B renewal on or after Dec 14 in Chennai get their visa stamped already?

i didnt get any update from them. i had my return flight soon. and i am worried a lot.

RFE 221g Mumbai stamping
Hi,

Me and my wife went to Mumbai US consulate for h1b and h4 stamping respectively on Nov 27th, 2017. This is my first time h1b stamping and have i797 approved until 2020. I was on F1 (STEM OPT) status prior to stamping. Visa officer asked below questions
- Whats your position and role?
- Whats your salary?
- How long have you worked for this company?
- Again whats my salary?
- Do you have client letter? I said yes and gave her client letter.

and officer issued me a yellow rfe slip asking to submit below documents via email
- A client letter head stating that there is a vacancy for me
- Copy of petition, i129 and lca
- Complete project details, marketing analysis, number of employees assigned etc.

I did submit all documents on Dec 5th, 2017. My status has been in administrative processing ever since and no updates to date.

Has anyone been to Mumbai consulate and facing the same issue?. Its already been a month and there is no update whats so ever. How long does this process takes?. Please share experiences if anyone was or is in a same spot.

Thanks in advance!.

H1B DropBox Experience in Kolkata
Submitted application on 2-JAN-2018 (H1B renewal via drop box - working directly for petitioner - but change of employer 2 years back)
ustraveldocs status says - "Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate"

It has been 3 business days already. (as of 5-JAN-2018)

On Dept of State tracker page it says -
"Application Received" with the following detailed explanation -

"Your case is open and ready for your interview, fingerprints, and required documents. If you have already had your interview, please check your status after two business days. If no interview was required, please check back in two business days for the status of your application.
For more information, please visit U.S. Consulate General Kolkata."

The US Consulate General website has no information on current visa processing times.
But considering that it has been 3+ business days with no status change, it does look like they are going to take it into "administrative processing", thereby putting a spanner on my travel plans.
Tickets are already booked for 10th Jan - which I will probably cancel on 9th Jan, if still no update.
What are my chances based on your current experiences ? (Looks like drop box delays have become more common nowadays)
