H1B Visa Experience Mumbai Consulate_ F1->H1B
Hello Everyone,

This was my first H1B visa interview experience
I'm done with my VAC (OFC) on January 3rd 2018 and Visa Interview on January 4th 2018, everything went well, got my visa issued on Jan 5th 2018, here is my experience:

H1B Visa Interview Experience Mumbai Consulate (January 4th 2018):

Me: Good Morning Sir! How are you doing?
VO: Very Good Morning, I'm doing good, how about you?
Me: Pretty good!

Passed my Passport

VO: Please pass your I-797A
Me: Sure, here it is

VO: What do you do in U.S?
Me: I'm a Project Engineer
VO: (Smile)

VO: What does your employer do?
Me: It provides engineering solutions and a staffing company as well

VO: What is your salary?
Me: $ZZZ per annum, which makes $ZZZ per month
VO: Thanks

VO: Who is your client?
Me: ZZZ

VO: How long have you been working at your client company?
Me: X years

VO: What is your highest level of education?
Me: Master's degree

VO: What field did you do your Master's in?
Me: Mechanical Engineering

VO: Where did you do Master's from?
Me: I did my Master's in USA from YYYY University, located in ZZZ

VO: Did you get the pamphlet?
Me: Yes, I got it! Thanks for asking

Before standing in the line for the visa interview, they give a white pamphlet at Mumbai Consulate that explains the rights for people coming to U.S as Temporary worker or student.

VO: Are you married?
Me: No

VO: Are you planning to get married or no? (VO was being funny at this time)
Me: Not for now, may be in future
VO: Then next time you might bring your wife to the consulate
Me: Sure will (a big laugh)
VO was still laughing

VO was typing looking at the screen for a brief moment, I was looking right into his eyes to see if he has any other questions for me.

VO: Ok, your visa has been approved
Me: Thank you so much sir
VO: You may collect your passport in 2 days
Me: Sure, thanks again and have a good day
VO: have a nice day :)

No other documents were asked, I'd say I was confident all throughout the interview and kept smiling as it gives a good impression for the person interviewing you.
Don't get tensed, the person before me has had his visa rejected, but somewhere in my mind I had a thought saying every case is different and need not panic, will see what has to happen! :D
Be positive!

I hope my experience helps people going for Visa Interview at Mumbai consulate, India
FYI.. I've noticed VO asking about ones relationship statuses (married or single and whats your future plan) be truthful and don't lie!

Thanks!

H1B + H4 stamping in Delhi - Admin Processing
My wife and I went for our interview in Delhi on 18th December and since then our case has been stuck in Admin Processing and we haven't heard anything back. My wife was on F1 and now moving to H4 and I am just extending my H1B (have an approved I-140 and earlier stamp was done in Panama with no hassle). Anyone has any suggestions on what to do? The VO said nothing about approval but did not mention it should take a few days for some internal processing. Now its been 3 weeks and still nothing. Would really any advice. Thank you!

F1 ----> H1 Minimum salary Info required
Completed my masters in May 2016, Got picked in H1B last year. My Interview is next week in New Delhi for stamping , I read online that minimum required salary should be 90,000$ for H1B. No rule is officially passed though. My salary is bit less than 90,000$. Is there anyone who has salary less than 90,000$ and successfully got visa stamping done? Can there be any issue?

Thanks

H1B issued after admin processing
Hey everyone,

I have been following this thread since my H1B interview and wanted to share my experience.

Mumbai Consulate (F1-->H1B)
Biometrics: 19th December
Interview: 20th December (Visa was approved, was told i'd get my passport in 2-3 days)

Since then, my case had been in Admin processing with zero updates. I reached out to the support team on Jan 2nd ([email protected]) asking what was going on. They emailed me the same day asking if i was given any letter at or after the interview to which I replied I wasn't. On the 3rd, the visa was issued. (around noonish I think cause I only checked my status on the morning of 3rd and it showed AP and then on 4th morning, it showed issue).

So for everyone still waiting, please do reach out to support if you haven't already. Cause it simply may be that our files are getting lost in the shuffle of genuine 'Admin Processing' cases.

All the Best!!

221g White sheet H1b stamping New Delhi

Background: PhD. in Electrical Engineering, first H1B stamping (four years into H1 status), working in a reputed semiconductor company

VI last week on 2nd January

VO kept my passport but returned my 797

Was handed over a 221 g white sheet which included a list of documents such as resume, research etc.

QUESTION:
The form also asks for an "Invitation letter from your sponsoring organization in US". I can of course submit my original offer letter but it does not contains my job details. For those of you who have responded to 221 g, how have you guys gone about this ?

First time H1. Administrative processing since 4 weeks
Hi,

My Visa Interview was held on December 8, 2017 at New Delhi Embassy 10.00 AM.
VO said that my Visa is approved and I will get my passport back within 7 days.
But it has been more than 4 weeks now and there is no update on my case.

On CEAC website:-
Case created- Dec 8
Case last updated- Dec 8

No updates since then.

I am working full time with a Fortune 500 employer for last 2.5 years. F1 to H1 conversion.
Any idea what is causing the delay?
When will my visa be approved?

Visa extension stamping - New Delhi
Dec 20th: Submitted drop box documents - H1B extension, direct hire (same employer since last 7 years), I-140 filed in 2015
Dec 26th: Status on CEAC 'Application Received'
Jan 2nd: The CEAC status had not changed since Dec 26th, called US Travel Docs call center - was told to wait for status change. That night, emailed NivND(AT)state.gov asking if I need to come in for an interview or additional info was needed.
Jan 3rd: Received reply from embassy: "Your application is refused under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act for administrative processing. After administrative processing is complete, the application will be reconsidered. U.S. immigration law requires that additional steps be completed in some cases before a file can be advanced for adjudicative review. In general, most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview; however, timing varies based on the individual circumstances of each case. "
Jan 3rd: CEAC status changed to 'Administrative processing'. No status on USTravelDocs website.
Jan 4th: CEAC status says 'Issued'
Jan 5th: Status on USTravelDocs website 'Passport ready for pickup'

Advice: Allocate at least 10 business days for visa stamping. Contact USTravelDocs first to get an update, if the reply is not helpful, then email the embassy (wait at least a week from interview/document submission). Status on CEAC website usually updated around 2 PM IST.

In my 4th year of H1B, changed employer ( direct hire, full time) 6 months ago. Went to drop documents at Hyd consulate on 27th December. Got a phone call/email to come in for fingerprints and interview on 16th Jan. My flight is on 17th Jan. Does anyone know if we can request them to prepone the interview?
