Upcoming Travel Plan
Hi all - I am planning to fly down to India (Chennai) this feb 10th and will be returning on March 7 (If everything goes as planned). More than the interview i am worried about the rumors that is going around about deporting people at the port of entry. My port of entry would be Houston. Has any of you experienced any such chaos at the port of entry ?

PS : A brief History. I came to the US for masters (Electrical Engineering) and immediately after my graduation in April 2014 i started working as an Electrical Engineer for Oil and gas and maritime industry. I have been with the same company ever since. Do you think i should stick to my Itinerary ? I am having second thoughts now. Please advise.

Thank you .

H1 Visa Interview Chennai
I had my H1 Interview today morning

My interview was scheduled for 930AM slot and was let inside the building at 9:00AM

After all the verification and other procedures, I was called in for interview.

The officer Asked only the Passport - I provided both passport and I797 but she told she just Need the passport.

she Confirmed the employer name with me and She asked below questions

Do you work ate client Location?
What is your client name?
Which state are you going to work?
What is your US salary?
Have read the pamphlet? I said No.

Then she told please read it before you leave for US. She looked at the monitor for about 1 min and I was little tensed but I was smiling, Then she looked at me and said the Visa is approved.

I came out of the consulate by 930AM. There was not much scrutiny, the process is Same as it was before. Haven't seen any rejections. (Saw one guy holding Yellow slip.)

Two hours after The interview I checked the status and It is mentioned as Administrative Process. I believe it is the usual process.

H1B Stamping scheduled for Feb end 2017 in Mumbai
Hello friends,

I have my visa interview scheduled for end of February'17. I have done my masters from US University in Industrial Engineering and I am working in Manufacturing field since 2011. I got my first H1B in 2011 after graduation (F1 to H1B). I have resided in Detroit region for the past 8 years.

I recently changed my employer and need to go to India for personal reasons so I'll need to get stamping done. I have always been a direct employee (there are no consultants or clients in manufacturing) - clean record. I got my i-797 approved, but had a RFE on it before approval. This happened for the first time.

I'll highly appreciate if there are others in the same boat (non IT) and share their stamping experience during the month. If situation seems worse than now - I might be compelled to delay my travel.

All experiences and help is welcome.

Thanks,
Kamal

Port of Entry JFK
My cousin told me immigration at the JFK and everything went as usual. No signs of any stranded immigrants at the airport or any unwanted or unusual questions by the CBP officer. He just verified the visa and did not even ask for the approval documents or petition.

immigration done on 1/30/17

FYI he did not attend any visa interview. He just visited India.
