H1B stamping - Mumbai consulate
Hi Everyone,

I went to Mumbai consulate along with my wife and son for H1/H4 visa interview.

Our OFC appointment was scheduled at 8:30 AM on 22nd Sep. We reached at OFC center at 8:20AM. There was huge queue outside the OFC but when i directly asked security guard that our appointment is at 8:30 AM he allowed us to get inside. Security guards and other staffs checked our ds-160 and passports. Then inside OFC we were issued two tokens one for me and my kid and other to my wife. Our token flashed on screen within 2 mins and it takes approx 2 mins for finger prints and capturing photo and we are all done by 8:30AM.

For those who has their appointment scheduled, i will suggest that don't go too early there, you will have to wait outside.

Our Visa interview was scheduled at 11:30AM on 23rd Sep. We reached the US consulate office at 11:00AM. There was queue outside but was moving fast within 1 mins we were inside the consulate. After security frisking we went inside the main hall where they again asked for finger prints and photo scan for my son (since we didn't submitted one at OFC office).
Then we joined a queue which was also fast moving and in 10 - 15 mins we asked to stand in front of window 34. When previous candidate's interview finished we went ahead for the interview.

VO: Namaste sir, Namaste mam (to my wife)
me: Namaste and Good morning sir.

VO: Can i have your passports?
me: i gave him all three passports along with i797

VO: Who is your employer and how much time you have been with the company:
me: told him details.

VO; Who is your client
me: answered

VO: what project you will be working on
me: answered

VO: (to my wife) how may years you have been married
wife: answered

VO: Is it arranged or love marriage?
wife: answered

VO: How many brothers and sisters your husband has?
wife: answered

VO: whats the qualification of his brother and where does he works?
wife: answered

VO: what is favorite food of your husband
wife: answered

VO; Thank you, I am approving your visas and you will get your passports in 3 - 5 days.
me: Thank you sir.

Then we were leaving the counter but i remembered that the VO has not returned I797 document so i went back there and asked him if he want that document ? He said he don't need that and returned it to me.

For those who will be appearing for interview, I will say don't take any stress and listen officer carefully. Best of luck.

My Visa is approved.
Firstly ,I want to say thanks to all of you guys for posting your valuable visa experience here .It is very useful for every person who is going for visa Interview.

I was silent viewer of this site , given my H1b Visa Interview in Kolkata on 23 Sep 2014 and my OFC was on 22 Sep 2014.

I went there with my wife and my 2 years old son.the timing was 9 AM. here is my experience

VO : Hello ...
me : hello ..good morning .

VO : give me your passport and approved petition.
me : I gave him mine ,my wife and my son passport and approved petition.

VO: why you going to USA.
me: Employment.

VO: who is your employer ?
Me : told my Employer name.

VO: what they do?
Me : I told they are in process management and Product development.

VO: what kind of product they develop?
me: I told software product.

VO : tell me any product name?

me : I did as per his suggestion.

VO: (to my wife) put your finger on machine ?
my wife : she also did it.

VO: I am approving your visa.

he took our current passports and return petition and my old passport.

For h1b , this is only verification. if your employer and client are fine then there is no problem to get visa. only go there with confidence .
My son is very naughty and i and my wife were very tensed regarding him .when we were giving interview he was playing with other candidates .

this was my third chance...in previous two times my application was not selected in lottery.

now what I am going to tell you ...may be possible that people may not believe but i believe now last year my wife told me that i need to go for Darshan of Chirkul balaji (Visa god) in Hyderabad and I just went there .

believe me this year , I got B1 and UK visa from my current company. I went UK and now I got H1B.

So I will say believe in GOD and wait for your turn . It will surly come on time.

JAI SAI BABA.....

I am waiting for my passport now . can any body tell me how much time it will take .

Thanks & Regards.

Wrong City Name in LCA Document
Hi Everyone,

My h1b visa got approved this year and i'm planning to go for visa interview in november/december based on the dates availability. But i just checked my LCA document in which my city name(Client city) is misspelled, but the remaining address along with the street name and zip code is fine, only city name was misspelled. Is there any problem if i go with that LCA document for the interview ??

And my contract with current client ends in jan 2015. but the client is ready to give the letter without mentioning the end date of my contract in the letter. Is it good to go for interview just before 2 months of finishing my contract ??

Thanks in Advance

H1B - Stamping experience - Chennai Consulate

Hi Friends,

Good luck to those who are yet to face their interview and congrats to those who already received it.

Sep 22 1AM OFC

Am basically from chennai so i landed in front of the gate(TPL house) sharp at 1AM and went in straight away. Even if you come early, you will end up waiting in long queue(10-15 members). Hence try to be on time or 15 mins prior to your scheduled time.

Documents taken - DS160 confirmation, appointment letter and passport.

- Near the gate, there would be two guys sitting, verifying your appointment and mark it in their sheet. They will also write a number on your appointment letter.
- You should enter the building, on first floor there will be a small queue after which you would be asked to provide your PP and appointment letter again. A person with the bar code reader would read the bars and send you further.
- Next is the open counter where they will stick a sticker which has your name and bar codes. (This is gonna be permanent until the interview is complete)
- Next , you will enter a room where a token will be issued to you and ask to wait in the hall. When your token number is displayed, you would be asked to go for biometric (1 pic, left hand 4 fingers followed by right hand 4 fingers then two thumbs together).

That is it, you can leave.

Sep 23 11AM Consulate

Tense moments with butterflies in stomach. :-)

It was so hot/humid and i completely got dehydrated. I carried a file case which had all docs. I reached at 10.30AM but there was a looong queue. I tried to check with few ppl and they were waiting for 10.30AM interview so i went to the last and was waiting. Around 11, a person checked the passport and made some entry in his tab after which we were asked to move to another line. This was for another 20-30 mins on the other side of the first queue. Full sweat and shirt soaked in it. Finally they made me enter into the building. There will be a security check where security will check you, your wallet and also the contents of the file. Then you will be asked to join a queue where a bar code reader would read your PP bar codes and they will issue a token and ask you to wait in the hall. Now comes the important times,

after waiting for almost 15 mins guessing on which queue my token is going to be displayed, finally it came.

- There was a couple before me who were questioned for 10 mins and 10 mins for some system delay. ( i would suggest to be cautious and confident from the moment you join the queue irrespective of where you stand in the queue. Dont show hatredness or any bad expressions due to the delay of previous applicant)
- Then came my turn.

vo - Good morning, Sir.
me - Very good morning, officer.

vo - sorry for making you wait for long.
me - not a problem sir. Here is my passport (I dont knw why i did this, but provide it only when he asks)

vo - thank you for your passport, sir. (he was going through it and something on his system)
me - you are welcome.

vo - can i have the approved petition, pl ?
me - yep, sure. (and provided it)

vo - who is your employer ?
me - my current employer is YYYY and the petitioner for whom am gonna work is YYYY. (again not sure why i did this but please answer to what he asks alone)

vo - who is your client ?
me - (answered accordingly as am gonna work on a project at YYYY location , no client )

vo - whats your designation ?
me - (answered accordingly as mentioned in the docs)

vo - can you tell me about YYYY ?
me - (answered accordingly)

vo - Pl bear with me , my system is slow.
me - np at all, take your time (with a smile.)

vo - am returning you your petition.
me - Thank you.

vo - (typed something in system, by this time i knew its all gonna be good but still was tensed). Your visa is approved. Here is the information pamphlet which you can go through. Wish you good luck on your work and happy stay in United States.
me - Thanks you so much. (with a smile again and left the place with excitement).

Like everyone said, be confident. Confident comes only when all papers are correct and you know that you have all answers for all possible questions that they may ask. Hence preparation is also key. Due to the dehydration or the tiredness you may lose your focus, at this time only your preparation will help you.

Wish you all good luck. Feel free to reply so that i can answer the queries that you may have.
