H1 B Visa stamping in Chennai - Approved
Thank you for all the friends who have shared their experiences here.
Below is mine:
My appointment was at 12 PM on 22nd Oct. I reached the consulate @ 11 PM. I was allowed inside as there was no queue or rush. They opened a new locker facility (kind of) to keep the mobiles (they accept small bags also) based on token system. Not sure whether it is a free service or a paid one.
After a couple of security checks (for CDs, mobiles, pen drives or any other electronic items), I entered inside. I was given a token in a counter after they verified the appointment confirmation letter and DS 160 confirmation. They also verified whether OFC is completed. I was asked to go to another counter (Counter 12).
An American lady was sitting there (so far everything was done by Indians) and she asked to put my four fingers in the scanner for verification. After that I was redirected to the main building where the actual interview happens.
I took a seat there in the waiting hall and started looking for my token number to appear in the large tv in the hall. When my number appeared along with the counter number, I went there.
VO: Good Morning. Please give your documents
Me: Here they are (I gave my passport, I797 and token)
VO: Have you been to US before (He saw my previows L1B visa in my passport)
Me: Yes. For the same YYYY company
VO: How much did YYYY pay you last time?
Me : Around YYYYY K.
VO: Who is your client?
Me: <Client name>
VO: What is your highest degree of education?
Me: <Degree>
VO: Ok. Do you have any questions?
Me: No
(He retained my passport. He did not say anything as it is approved.)
Then I headed to the passport delivery counter and paid the fees for delivering to my company's address.
The entire process was very smooth.

What does InTransit From the POST means ?
Hi ,
I attended for my H1 B Visa interview on Oct 18 .
Interview went good for 5 min . After that VO took my Passport ,I-797 and PayStubs and asked to go next counter and pay the fees.
When i checked for the status of my passport initally it said "STILL WITH THE POST"
after 2 days it changed to "Origination SCAN"
today it says "InTransit From POST" .
Can any one tell what does that mean ? The Customer Care is very poor .
Did any faced the same issue .

My H1B experience in Hyd consulate on 10/23
Hi, today I had my H1B stamping at Hyd consulate. It was easy and mine is BEP. Earlier after arriving at consulate, I had Security check, document sorting, document verification (white pamphlet was provided for all H1B’s), finger print verification, waiting area (token was provided and also an announcement was made for H1B to have client invitation letter, experience letter and I129 to keep ready)
Officer: So you work for YYYY (he asked this first question after looking at my company tag)

Visa exp at delhi
Hi,
We did not get the stamping dates at Chennai. So my husband's company had booked us a date at Delhi. The first step that is taking finger print was done at Chennai. The main stamping was at Delhi. The timing was at 9.30 am. We reached the place well in advance actually too early around 7.30 am. We thought we were early but there stood a long queue. First slot was at 8 am. Ppl in tat slot were asked to stand in t q from 7.45 am. Then the slots 8.30 am, 9.00 am continued. Our turn came. We entered the embassy ard 9.45 am. They have a counter in the entrance where we can place our electronic items, and they provide us with a token. Then on entering the main door, we were directed to a female who stapled our BEP, I797 with the passport. Then we went to another female who gave us a token number. Then we were directed to the main place. There we were asked to wait for 5 min as our case was transfer from Chennai to Delhi. Then we were called and another person asked us our names and requested us to go to XX counter for finger print verification. After which was the main interview taken. There was a lady who seemed to look rigid. But then my husband and i went der, she asked certain questions to my husband like * who’s your employer * have u been to the US before * are u taking your family for the first time hmm then that’s all.. Things turned out well and we were granted the visas. There is a courier service desk, where we can pay Rs. 300 per passport so that they will send t to us. That’s all! All is well..

Regarding H1B visa processing time in Hyderabad
Hello all,
I am travelling from Houston to Hyderabad from Nov 21st 2012 to Dec 20th 2012 for getting my H1b visa stamped for the first time.
I have scheduled an appointment for 13th of Dec which is Thursday. Since I am returning on 20th I was kind of apprehensive that I might not have my passport by then.
And that I might have to reschedule my return journey.
Can someone who went to Hyderabad consulate tell me how long is it taking for them to process the visa?.
I have selected pick up location in Hyderabad. So by when do you think I can pick up my passport.
It will be great if someone shares their expereince regarding processing time.

Please add working model like EC-EVC or Full time.
PLease add working model like if you are working in EC, EVC or full time with you experince. if you can tell us weather you are working for Big US based consulting company or an Big Indian company...that would be awesome. Just trying to figure out of someone from Big US based consulting company working in EC model got Stamped or not...
