My Attorney told me that it's taking 4 months to get the new petition approved in normal cases, where as a premium case would take around 15 days.

H1b Approved-Mumbai Consulate
I had my interview on the 7th of Sept. Most of the interview questions were the same as what most people have been posting so I will not repeat them. The interview lasted less than a minute.

Tip: Answer confidently and make sure you say exactly what is asked. Make sure your answers match what was stated in your petition. If the documentation etc is in order and its a legitimate case there is no reason that it will be rejected. So don't worry and keep your cool.

All the best!

Thanks a lot for this great website!!!
My Background: I have a US Masters and directly working for a US employer (Software development company). I have an approved I140 and got my H1 extended for 3 years beyond 6 year limit last month. I came to India on a business visit/vacation and wanted to apply for my H1 visa at the chennai consulate on Sep, 5th.

I had an 8:30am appt but reached there by 7:30 and was allowed inside by 7:45 or 8:00 after scanning the appt barcode and received a token. After the security check, I was waiting inside for the initial VFS screening for 15 mins. Went to the counter and the VFS person mentioned I could not use my existing photo and gave me a slip that said photo required.
I went to the photo area and thankfully another applicant loaned me 100/- as I wasnt carrying my wallet etc. Took the photo and again went to the counter and finally everything checked out fine. I provided a copy of I797 but was asked to provide the ORIGINAL! Got the Passport bundled with my I797 and went to the last counter for 10 printing.

After this I proceeded to the next building and my token was already assigned to a counter. So went there and was standing until my turn came.

Me: Good morning! How are you doing?
VO: Iam good. How are you today?
Me: Iam good thanks.
Gave my passport and the I797

VO: So you work for YYYY employer?
Me: Yes. That's correct.

VO: Excellent. How long are you working for YYYY ?
Me: Two years.

VO: Where are you located?
Me: My residence or my work location?

VO: Oh Sorry. Where do you work?
Me: AAAAA, PA

VO: Great. So that's close to Philly. Right?
Me: Yep. Its around 45 mins of commute. But I live in BBBBB

VO: Are you in any projects?
Me: Yes. Iam into couple of them (Briefly explained both...)

VO: What is your salary?
Me: YYYY per annum

VO: What's your title?
Me: YYYY X

VO: I need to see your LCA and I129 please
Me: Sure. Here you go.
(Was typing for a few minutes)...

VO: Your visa is approved. You should get your passport in 3 to 5 days.
Me: Thank you. Have a good one!

That's it! It looked like a nice discussion and not like an interview.

Best of luck for everyone else who is appearing for the interview!!! God bless!
