8) In the Next counter-2, one guy ( American ) took all the 10 finger prints and and asked us
to wait in the waiting hall, where the tokens are being issued for the

another counter-3 ( American ) where the interview took place,

Following are the questions i was asked

Visa Officer : GM sir ( Smiling )

Me: Told the client name and profile , then she asked me to spell the client name.
Visa Officer: Asked about the project i am going to work there ?
Me: 5 to six lines is enough about your project, while i am talking
about the project, she was watching me for my confidence level.

VerySimple, Nothing to Panic, Just confidence

Thats all, She didn't asked for any other certificates, and then she said that "she was approving my visa
and it will be delivered in a week".

Before I add my experience, I would like to say thanks to immihelp and all those who posted their comments. I was interview in New Delhi on August 17th, 2012. Something strange happened. When I went to the counter, officer asked me only one question about my designation and then asked me to wait in the waiting area and told me that someone would call me back. I waited for 15-20 minutes. Noone called. then I asked helpdesk. they suggested me to go to one of the counters randomly. I explained the case to the officer. she started interviewing me. Lots of questions - 1. On which visa did I travel last time.
2. what does husband do and his visa status
3. what is the name of the company that he works with
4. what does my employer do
5. what is my role and responsibility
6. location of the employer
7. client's location
8. how is my performance monitored
9. how do i fill my timesheets
10. how many vendors are there between my employer and end client
11. what is the duration of the contract.
i was thinking that i will not get visa but the officer said that my visa has been approved. main thing is to prepare well for the interview and to answer truthfully to all the questions. hope that helps. Thanks.

H1B Interview @ Kolkata Consulate - Approved
Hi,

There are very few posts here related to experience @ the US Consulaate - Kolkata. So thought of adding mine to it.

The entire process takes around 1 hour. It includes the following:

1) Initital security check @ the entrance for the appointment letter and passport.

2) Baggage and physical check inside. Only wallet and your file is allowed inside. You need to switch of your cell phone and keep them over there, so its advisable if you carry a bag and leave it there alongwith your other things. They will provide you with 2 tokens, one for your belongings and one will be your interview token number.

3) Then you will be asked to sit in another place with other visa aspirants where a lady will be verifying your petition papers, passport and photograph.

4) The interview hall is separate where you will be called serially according to your token numbers. Inside there are 7 counters: Counters 1-2-3-4 are for another round of paper check and biometrics collections (both hand fingerprints). Counters 5-6-7 are for interview.

Finally the Interview time and the VO asked a few questions regarding my client, my experience and marital status . Pretty straight forward questions and I had answered accordingly in 1-2 lines. Do not exaggerate and make the answers lengthy, they just want to check the candidates confidence.

Then the VO asked me to place my hands on the biomteric machine for another set of fingerprints. And finally came the golden words: 'Your visa is approved, have a nice stay at US' :)

They arent really looking for too many papers apart from the petition doc, passport and company letter. But do carry 1 copy of your educational history, professional history and financial records alongwith their originals.

Be confident and all the best - see you in US :-)

H1B Visa got approved on 27 Aug 2012, where L1B was rejected last year
HI All,

No need to be panic for Visa interview. They have some common questions to ask and you need to answer them confidence. It is the confidence which they like to see while you replying to them.

They know which questions to ask when you lose control at the time of interview. So take a chill pill prior to interview if you have all the necessary documents in case of H1B then it really need a lot of caliber to get it rejected.

In my case the officer asked me below questions:

1 . My client Name
2 . My Employer Name
3 . She asked me whether i have a manager from client side or Employer side.
4 . Who will be assigning me work on daily basis.
5 . Where i will be sitting, at client side or employer side.
6 . Where my manager sits.
7. What will be my job responsibilities there.

Do remember, in all above question officer is just trying to check your confidence. Always keep a eye contact while answering and do keep a smile on your face. I know its very hard when it comes to visa interview but you have just to show confidence for 5 to 10 mins.

Thanks
Hemant
