Hi All,
I have found this site really helpful while preparing for my H1B interview. So I thought I would share my experience with all, so that others might find it helpful.
I had my interview on 27th February in Mumbai.I reached there 1 hour before my interview time and since there is a long queue , I think its useful to reach early.
Once I was inside, my interview confirmation letter was checked and I was given a token number. Following that I went through the security check and then moved on to the waiting area. After sitting in the waiting area for about 15 minutes, I went inside the main interview zone. There I was finger printed and then I waited for the monitor to show up which counter would I have to go to. After waiting for approx 20-30 mins my token number came up on the monitor along with the counter number. I proceeded to the counter and greeted the VO and gave my passport and I-797 petition.
The following questions were asked to me
1) Which company you work for?
Ans: XYZ
2) How long have you been working with the company
Ans: X years
3) What do you do there
Ans: Explained about my role and responsibility in detail
4) What will be your Salary in US
Ans: X per annum
After the VO checked something on the screen
5) Will you be working at Client side in US?
Ans: Yes (my petition had the client address as my work location)
6) Who is your client?
Ans: XYZ
7) Is there a manager from your company who is working at Client Location?
Ans : Yes
8) Whats your highest qualification
Ans: BE with my speciallization
9) Have you travelled to US before on Business?
Ans: Yes (I had travelled on B1)
10) For how many days were u there?
Ans: X days
11) What were you doing there for X days?
Ans: I explained my purpose for travelling on B1.
12) Are you married ?
Ans: yes
13) Is your wife travelling with you?
Ans: No
The VO looked at the screen for some time and then said that my visa is approved and I will get it in two days.
I got my Passport stamped with H1B visa today. However they have cancelled my B1 Visa . I think the reason for this is I cannot have two valid US visas while travelling to US.
I wish good luck to everyone who is going for their stamping.

221(g) green form issued
I went two hours before my interview.
Stood in the queue for about 1hour,
I was given a token number, after that a small security
Check (physical check-they won't even allow a pen also, I need to throw my chap stick:) )
After that, your documents are checked, of there are any envelopes, they stamp on it and then u r allowed inside.
I am waiting for my number which is displayed on a big LCD.
When I saw my number, I went to my counter, the lady asked my passport, DS-160, visa interview confirmation, I 120, I 797, HDFC receipt.
She pasted a number from HDFC receipt on my passport, bundled the documents and asked me to go to counter 12,
Here the finger prints have been taken, next moved to another hall, here I waited for 30mins, the same number will be displayed on a big tv.
I went to the counter.
VO: come.
Me: good afternoon
VO: no response(Looked stubborn)
VO: ur documents.
Me: submitted the bundled documents.
VO: who is ur client..
Me: Xxxx
VO: how many years of experience u have.
Me: Xxx
VO: y u r leaving ur current company( the company filed my h1 and the current company am working are different.)
Me: I think, this opportunity is a very good break for me career.
VO: which project u work for?
Me: Xxxx
VO: who is ur client(again the same question)
Me: Xx( its a in house project)
VO: how many people are currently working in ur company?
Me: Xxx
VO: wait a sec I will come back.
Me: that's ok.
VO: so can u tell me about ur role and designation
Me: I am designated as computer system analyst an I will be handling all phases of their(my client) software development.
My role also involves so an so bla bla bla bla..
VO: how did you come through this company?
Me: through some online job portal.
VO: which is that?
Me: I posted in several portal, I am not sure about the particular site but it may be from naukri.
VO: can u give me ur project details.
Me: given the project details copy.
VO: do u have your company IT returns.
Me: no..
VO : right now, I cannot make a decision on your visa,
You need to submit the following documents.(green form, he ticked 4 documents from my petitioner and 2 from me)
Me: ok sure , thank you..
Walked out and checked the list ticked by VO ,
Then came out.
Now I am contacting my petitioner to get the relevant documents...
Will post my experience once I get it done..

221(g) Green form CHENNAI Embassy
I appeared for H1B interview 15st Feb
After few questions I was given 221(g) Green form with case number.
221(g) form requires me to submit contract document between Employer and Client with some supported documents listed in the form.
On the very next day i have submitted all the documents in Chennai VFS. It was 10 days up but i didnot get any information from Embassy.
Can anyone please tell me, have u faced this kind of situation and how many days it has taken for the process.
I have checked in VFS website it says "Your passport is under process at US Embassy/Consulate"
I will be eagerly waiting for the reply.

Then Finger scanning will be done done, after that we need to move to visa lobby.

How much is you will be paid there?
Which location you will be working?
After the answers given . i got the question, have you seen the pamphlet (US stay instructions) and then heard the words as Visa has been approved

H1B visa approved - Chennai Consulate - 22 Feb, 2012
My interview was at 10:30 AM on Feb 22, 2012 in Chennai consulate.
Reached consulate around 9:30 AM
Line -> Token collection -> Security -> Docs verification -> finger printing.
Must say that Chennai consulate is well managed and staff is co-operative.
Reached interview counter/window around 10:30 AM.
Visa officer at this counter was scrutinizing every applicant a lot.. and was
taking a lot more time per applicant as compared to other windows.
I had 5 in the line in front of me.. and I reached VO after standing close to 45
mins ..
Finally, my turn came ..
VO: Good morning Sir..
Me: Good morning officer.
VO: Sir, Can I have your documents - both I797B and I129 (all docs)?
ME: Handed over
VO: Who is your client?
Me: ABC
VO: How much is your IT experience?
ME: 5 years xx months
VO: How long are you working for the current company?
Me: 5 years xx months
VO: What is the title you are working on sir?
Me: YYY
VO: Have you been to US before?
Me: Yes

Thanks to this forum, it helped me in preparing a lot.
I would suggest all others going for interview that be confident.. and be thorough with your I-129 and LCA before going to interview.
And .. a piece of advice for my Turban wearing Sikh friends.
DS-160 online form did not accept my photograph when I tried with snaps in which I had sky blue color of my Turban. I tried a similar snap with a black color Turban .. and it went fine.

I have total exp of 6+yrs as a software developer.
I converted form H4 to H1 2 yrs ago.
Recently I got H1 extention.
I received 221(g) white slip :
Here are the questions :
Q: What are you doing in US ?
A: Working as Software Developer.
Q.From when are you with your current employer ?
A. Only few months (as I recently changed the employer).
Q. What were you doing in US on H4.
A. House wife
Q. What is your specialization ?
A. YYYY Technology
Q. Where is your employer?
A - same location
Q. Where is your client ?
A. same location
Q. Who assigns you work ?
A. Project manager at client location.
Q. What is your employer's name ? Please spell his name.
A. employer name <Indian name >
Q. How often do you talk to your employer ?
A. every week .
Q. Whom do you report from your employer's company.

Q. VO reacted : then is a very small company
A. Then I tol him, I report to a project manager form my emplyr's company at the client's loc.

A. To visit parents.

Q. VO : I need atleast 2-3 weeks time , you can follow the instrns on the website.
