my interview was shceduled at 10.AM at mumbai conculate. MIne was BEP case.
cab driver came at morning 5:00 am at my place and we reach consulate at around 7:30. I waited in line for around half an hour.
then i entered a room where luggage checking was going on but i didnot carry anything except my docs so i was send to one counter which asked me for DS160 confiration and interview appointment letter . i gave him and then he gave me my token number.
then i was forwarded to a gallary and then a big room people sitting on chairs waiting for their turn and there were around 20 counters. LCD displaying token numbers and counter number.
i waited for around 1 hr then my turn came..
VO was a beautifull 28 yr old girl.her eyes were so nice to look into.
i saw many rejection before my turn so was little bit nervous but when my turn came i was confident and clear .
i was answering by looking into her eyes..and being loud and clear and confident.
she asked me below questions
Q= who is your employer?
A =XX
Q= how long you were with your employer?
A =1 yrs
Q= total year of experience?
A =5 yrs
Q= how you 5 yrs experience?
A=Earlier i was with XYZ
Q=why you going US?
A= to serve temporary assigment for client YY?
Q= who is your client?
A= YY.
Q= YY you are talking about?
A= i said yes with smile...
Q= ok show me your client letter?
A= i said ok and provided her I129 , JL ,EE and petetion and BEP letter.
she look into docs and her face was telling she got satisfied as she was nodding her head :)
Q= she asked my salary?
A= i told her...
Q= who is your manager?
A= i gave name.
Q how you communicate with your manager?
A= through mail instant messaging and Video conferencing.
Q=Ohh! Video conferencing... how often you do ?
A= weekly.
Q= when you did last VC and what you discussed?
A= i got nervous but did not show her and answered with smile... about any project topic and told some day falls in last week.
she typed something in system and till the time my heart was beating like anything..i was about to die then and there..
but to height of happiness golden words came..i am approving your visa..
i thanked her with big smile and came back..and after 2 days my Passport came back with stamp :)

H1B visa interview with NO Show case experience
Hi guys,
I would like to share my experience with all you guys, since it was different case ,it will be helpful to you guys if in case such things happen in your case.
I was unable to attend visa interview on 13th Feb. So it went as NO SHOW case. After 3 working days from my interview date US consulate has updated my status as NO SHOW case. Then I have reactivated the HDFC receipt and booked new interview date on 27th Feb. with new DS-160 Form.
On 27th Feb. I reached US mumbai consulate 90 minutes prior to interview .There was long queue as usual .I got token after standing 20 minutes in queue. Now the token received had old DS-Confirmation number which I used during booking first interview slot(i.e 13th Feb). Since the information has changed I had submitted new ds-160 form and booked new appointment with new ds-160 form. I told this issue to token distributer guy but he said that it was right token.
After that i was very nervous and very much sure that I would get 221g.I had seen lot of rejection that day. After waiting for approx 1 hour my turn came.
The Visa Officer was lady .She had rejected visa of previous applicant. Previous applicant wanted visa to meet there son in US & she has rejected their application saying you are not qualified to get visa.
When i reached to the counter she asked me for passport & I797 petition.Then the following conversation happened
Me:Hi, Good Morning.
VO:Good morning.How are you?
Me: I am doing good.How are you?
VO: I am also doing good.
Me: mam there is problem in my token number. It is not showing correct DS-confirmation number.
VO:I didn’t get you.
Me. (I have shown my DS-160 confirmation page)
VO: (she looked at my token number )what’s your name & birth date.
Me: xxx & xxxx
VO: Who is your client?
Me: xxxx company
VO: How many employees from your company at client location?
Me:5
VO: What will be your US Salary?
Me: xxxxx$
VO: Who is your reporting manager at client location?
Me: YYYY is my reporting manager.
VO: Which location your manager will be working?
Me: told the client address mentioned in my petition
VO: Which location you will be working?
Me: same building
VO: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Are you planing to get married this year?
Me: No
VO: (After showing me white pamplet)have you read this ?
Me: Yes mam
Then the golden words came your visa is approved & it will be delivered tomorrow.
She returned my original petition and I said thank you.
I was very happy and shocked also. I guess I was very lucky that day. I think in NO SHOW case DS-160 confirmation number which appears on token is from older DS-160 confirmation number if you have taken new appointment with new DS-160 confirmation number. I am not sure about this.
My personal advice to all the candidates who are appearing for visa interview to give all the answer confidently & never show visa officer that your life depends on visa. With some luck you can crack visa interview surely.

I am traveling to India in March 2012. I am a Full Time employee. I will be going for stamping at Hyderabad. I have read on the consulate website that, we need to carry, Employer Tax return documents of past 2 years. I talked to my employer and they are hesitant to provide one to me because my company is a big company with more than 25000 employees and they said these documents are confidential that they cannot hand it over to me even in a sealed envelope. Also, the website says for us to carry details of all other employees who work for the employer including their names, salary, position information etc, and obviously this is not possible for the company to provide since there are so many thousands employees working. If any one of you who also has same doubts and got answers to this or had faced such issue at the interview please share your views.

I have found this site really helpful while preparing for my H1B interview. So I thought I would share my experience with all, so that others might find it helpful.
I had my interview on 27th February in Mumbai.I reached there 1 hour before my interview time and since there is a long queue , I think its useful to reach early.
Once I was inside, my interview confirmation letter was checked and I was given a token number. Following that I went through the security check and then moved on to the waiting area. After sitting in the waiting area for about 15 minutes, I went inside the main interview zone. There I was finger printed and then I waited for the monitor to show up which counter would I have to go to. After waiting for approx 20-30 mins my token number came up on the monitor along with the counter number. I proceeded to the counter and greeted the VO and gave my passport and I-797 petition.
The following questions were asked to me
1) Which company you work for?
Ans: XYZ
2) How long have you been working with the company
Ans: X years
3) What do you do there
Ans: Explained about my role and responsibility in detail
4) What will be your Salary in US
Ans: X per annum
After the VO checked something on the screen
5) Will you be working at Client side in US?
Ans: Yes (my petition had the client address as my work location)
6) Who is your client?
Ans: XYZ
7) Is there a manager from your company who is working at Client Location?
Ans : Yes
8) Whats your highest qualification
Ans: BE with my speciallization
9) Have you travelled to US before on Business?

I got my Passport stamped with H1B visa today. However they have cancelled my B1 Visa . I think the reason for this is I cannot have two valid US visas while travelling to US.

I went two hours before my interview.
Stood in the queue for about 1hour,
I was given a token number, after that a small security
Check (physical check-they won't even allow a pen also, I need to throw my chap stick:) )
After that, your documents are checked, of there are any envelopes, they stamp on it and then u r allowed inside.
I am waiting for my number which is displayed on a big LCD.
When I saw my number, I went to my counter, the lady asked my passport, DS-160, visa interview confirmation, I 120, I 797, HDFC receipt.
She pasted a number from HDFC receipt on my passport, bundled the documents and asked me to go to counter 12,
Here the finger prints have been taken, next moved to another hall, here I waited for 30mins, the same number will be displayed on a big tv.
I went to the counter.
VO: come.
Me: good afternoon
VO: no response(Looked stubborn)
VO: ur documents.
Me: submitted the bundled documents.
VO: who is ur client..
Me: Xxxx
VO: how many years of experience u have.
Me: Xxx
VO: y u r leaving ur current company( the company filed my h1 and the current company am working are different.)
Me: I think, this opportunity is a very good break for me career.
VO: which project u work for?
Me: Xxxx
VO: who is ur client(again the same question)
Me: Xx( its a in house project)
VO: how many people are currently working in ur company?
Me: Xxx
VO: wait a sec I will come back.
Me: that's ok.
VO: so can u tell me about ur role and designation
Me: I am designated as computer system analyst an I will be handling all phases of their(my client) software development.
My role also involves so an so bla bla bla bla..
