H1B - Administrative processing pending
Hi Friends,

First of all, thanks to all those, who contributed to this web-site by providing their valuable experiences.

I attended my H1B interview on 11th Dec 2006 and interview went through fine without any hiccups. But, at the end, the consular officer said they want to do background check and it would take couple of weeks time.

I insisted if he needs any other info/documents from me, he said everything is fine, except that he just want to complete a formality admin process and its nothing to worry about. He was asking if I was involved in any kind of issues (problems) before (not sure if he meant for criminal records). I answetred that 'No, never I was involved' with affirmation. He said, "then its just a formality check and its just a matter of time'.

He talked nicely and concerned about my travel plans (which is during 2nd week of Feb 2007) and he said they can make sure that this admin process can be over before that. He asked me whether i gave my phone numbers properly since someone might call me shortly.

He finally handed over pink letter 221(g) saying Administrative process pending, with a case number.

This case number can be tracked in a PDF (which have huge list of pending cases, even from 2004/2005 :-( ) from chennai consulate web page.

Till now, noone called me :-( Whats next in store for me? Is there anyway that we can do a follow-up?

Appreciate any kind of help/suggestions.

Thanks !!!

Letter 221g - H4 Visa for my wife
Hi

I came to US in December 1 2006 and my went for getting her H4 stamped on December 11. They issued a letter 221g asking for several payslips and bank statements. But I am here in US Since December and do not have payslip as I did not get my SSN. So what should we do in this situation? I have mailed to the consulate people saying that I came recently and they said that provide a letter stating that you have been here since 1 month.

My question is

Is it sufficient for visa stamping?
Or do I need to provide any additional documents?

Successful H1B Stamping
Hi,
First of all, thanks to this site and those people who posted their experiences, which helped me in preparing for the interview.
My interview was in the first week of January in delhi. I reached the consulate and there was a queue in the platform itself where they checked the interview letter and security check and asked me to stand in the second queue. There are different queues for B1, H1B and immigrant visas. There are different counters(basically windows) where they took the interview letter, DS 156, Ds 157, Passport, I 797 and the VFS receipt, pinned it all together and asked me to enter the building.
Inside the building, there is a counter to submit the mobile and then again security check, where all the carried things should go through X-ray. Then entered the main building. On the right side, there are 2 counters for finger print. I joined the queue and first left index finger and then right index finger were scanned and agained they asked me to join a queue inside. Here also different queues for different categories.
Following is the converstaion of the interview:
VO: Hello, How are you?
Me: I am fine sir. How about you?
VO: I am fine. Can I have the documents?
Me: Sure Sir.( Gave the pinned documents to VO)
VO: Which place in US are you going ?
Me: aaa place sir.
VO: what is your educational qualification and where you did it?
Me: I did my bbb degree from ccc University Sir.
VO: Can I see your degree certificate and Mark sheets?
Me: Sure Sir (Gave him the degree Certificate and mark sheets)
VO: Where do you work now?
Me: I am working in eee company sir.
VO: How long are you working in the present
company?
Me: fff years sir.
VO: Why do you want to go US?
Me: blah blah blah
VO: What is your job designation in US?
Me: ggg Sir.
VO: What exactly will you be doing in that role?
Me: blah blah blah
VO: Which programming languages will you be working on?
Me: blah blah blah
VO: Your Visa is approved Sir and your passport will be couriered in 3 days.
Me: Thanks Sir.

Thats all Guys. They asked me only the degree certificates although I carried all the documents. What I observed was if you are confident in answering, then they may not ask you any documents. This site has all the questions which they will ask. So be prepared, do mock rehearsal before the mirror and then go. It helps. Prepare well especially for the frequently asked quenstions like
why do you want to to US?
Tell me something about your Project?
what are your roles and responsibilities?

Good Luck Guys.

221(g) issued @ Chennai Consulate
Hi,

Thanks everyone posting your experience @ this site.

I attended H1 (+ H4) @ Chennai Consulate on 27th Dec.

VO asked me about Project details.
I answered Internal Project.

She verified Tax returns and said: Your Employer haven't had paid Tax for this internal project. They don't have internal project.

I tried to show her the Project related documents and the Customer cheque provided by my employer. But she was not keen on verifying it.

She issued 221(g) stating for the requirement of 7 documents. She said, "I am holding the documents(I-797 and all the stuff provided by my Employer except Internal Project details) with me".

In 221(g), She strike-off "Internal Project" while asking for a document regarding Project description, start date, location of work, market report...etc.

She also mentioned that "this is the last opportunity to submit the required documents through Drop Box. You are responsible to verify whether all the required stuff provided properly."

My query is:
Though my Employer has an internal project and the doc's provided for that, it appears that 221(g) demands for a client project details.

Is it ok to wait for a client offer and submit that(I have already told her that i am for an internal project) or shall i request my Employer to provide further more details regarding internal project?

Any of you experienced this scenario? If Yes, please let me know what have you done for that.

Wish GOOD LUCK to the attendees.

Thanks,
Hari.
