Hi,
Thanks to immihelp, I was able to get a complete
list of documents needed to be taken for H1 visa. Earlier I had worked in the US on H1(at that time there was no necessity for a personal appearance) and been on B1 this year. Excerpts of my interview.
VO : Checked my data on her PC, told me that I had worked in the US earlier and asked where was the corresponding stamping ?
Me : It is present in one of the final pages in my passport.
VO : Asked why I had quit my job on return to India.
Me : I had been through a services company earlier and got back to India. Then I wanted to know the working of a product company and hence shifted onto my present employer (a product company).
VO : When did you get married ?
Me : <date>
VO : Can I see your marriage certificate ?
Me : Showed the original MC.
VO : Both of your visas is approved and will reach u in 3-4 days.
Me : Thank you.
Two useful tips.
1. Preferably not talk to the candidates who come out of the consulate, because the question asked for each and every person totally depends on that individual and his/her history. That way you do not get tensed on hearing that someone else has been rejected.
2. Have all the necessary documents/paperwork and while talking to the VO make sure to maintain eye contact and answer confidently.

H1 Visa from Toronto, Canada
Hi,
I did not see any experiances from US consulates in Canada, so thought it's useful to post my experience.
In Canada, it's very easy. Almost everyone I saw got visa.
Questions asked by VO:
1) what are you going to do there? (work nature)
2) why did you choose this employer?
2) Show me your employer offer letter.
Question to my wife:
How long are you married for?
That's it.
It's cool. Visa got approved.

Successful H1stamping at Chennai on 22 Dec
Hi Friends,
I have an interesting experience to share with u all. First of all, Let us keep up the good work of posting our experiences on this excellent site. Its really a knowledge bank for any kind of guidance.
My interview was scheduled at 10 AM on 22 Dec and i reached the consulate at 8 AM with my wife, thinking there might be a lot of rush outside but to my surprise there were only 3 ppl standing in the line and there was no rush at all. And they let us in immediately and we straight went to the second building without even stopping at the first building. And by 8:15 AM i was in front of the VO after finishing my finger print scan. There was no token given also. The VO was a lady of abt 30 yrs and did not even smile once. She asked me abt 3-4 ques like,
1) Who is your employer in US ?
2) Who is your employer here currently ?
3) What is your education ?
4) How many yrs of work experience ?
She then asked me to show my work experience letters and the moment she saw that she told us to wait and she will call us again. And she started the next interview. I was a little disturbed that why did she do that but we just waited without any hint. We got more tensed as the time went on and we sat there for abt 1hr 45 mins. Then finally at abt 10:10 AM, our names were called and we again presented ourselves in front of the VO. This time she was typing something for abt 1 min and we just stood there in front of her. I was ready to show her any more certificates like Educational Degree, Client letter, Proj desc etc but she just kept typing and after a minute without any ques, just announced that our visa is issued and will be couried to us within 3 days. Thats it...It was such a relief after waiting for abt 2 hrs.
They just did a background check on my experience and didnt ask for anything..not even a glance at my original degree or any certificate. So, i guess it all depends on the VO's mood as to what info she wants from us.
Hope this experience is of use to someone. All the very best to all who will be attending the visa stamping. Just be calm, composed and confident. The visa will be yours.

Hi all,
Thanks a lot for the administrator of this site and the people who have posted their experiances here.
I have attended Chennai in the month of november and the VO issued me 221G asking for the below mentioned documents.He asked me to send the documents through DropBox.
1. Petitioners income tax returns for the last 2 tax years and financial statements.
2. A notarized list of all the petitioner;s employees of the job site listed. The list should show all the employees names, their specific job titles, and their individual salaries and immigration status.
3. Unemployment wage reports for the past 2 years as reported to the state of california.
4. A copy of the contract between the US employment agency (Petitioner) and the job site (the location where you will actually work)
5. A letter (on letterhead) from the personnel department at the US job site stating that there is a vacancy for you.
6. The applicant's complete itenary of services, including company names and addresses.
7. Interior and exterior photos of the premises where you will work.
8. Lease agreement for the Petitioner's premises.
9. A detailed and specific description of the internal development project to which you will be assigned. Include a complete technical description of the project, employer, timeline, and current status, number of employees assigned, worksite location, and marketing analysis for the final product.
I had submitted all the documents last week and couple of days back i got the visa .So even if you get 221G dont get disharted , try to get all the documents and you will for sure get the visa.

Sorry, you cannot process H1 tranfer having being stay in India.The rules says, you need to have atleast 2-3 pay stubs for ur current petitioner. That means, initially you should have US employment.Getting H1 approved and visa stamped means you are permitted to work in US for specified time period. You haven't got ur US employment, untill unless u entered in US and start working for ur present US employer.

Hi to all,
I attended the chennai consulate on 30th Nov.My appointment time is 12:15,i reached the consulate at 11:30.On that tday the interviews are delayed by Half an hour i joined in the line by 12:45.It takes nearly one and half hour to enter in to the first building.In the first building Indian officers chk all the documents like DS-156,157,I797,I129 and HDFC bank receipt and put all the papers in a file and gave it to me and told to move next building.In second building first they take the finger prints and asked me to join in a line.Nearly i wait for 2 hours in the line after that i get my chance
1.Vo : Goodafternoon sir How r u?
Me :Goodafternoon How abt u?
2.Vo : Please give me your file?
Me : I passed my file to him
3.Vo : so why r u going to U.S?
Me : To work as a program Analyst in YYYY Company
4.Vo: Are u masters are Bachelors?
Me: Bachelors
5.Vo: From which school u got the Bahelors?
Me: YYYY University sir
6.VO: Can i see u'r Bachelors degree?
Me: ya sure sir and i passed my certificates to him.
7.Vo: For which employer u r going to U.S and how many are working in tht company?
Me: I am going for YYYY comapany and the XX are working in tht compnay.
8.Vo: Tell me u'r carrer back ground?
Me: I explained my carrer background and tell him tht iam working in a MNC Presently

Is it a problem if we dont have convocation cerificate.
Is it a problem if we dont have convocation certificate.I have provisional certificate.Please let me know as my visa date is on Dec 28th 2006.I have all the marks memos as well.Please let me know whether that is a problem..I have been trying for my Convocation from many days but in vain .
