Tips:
* If possible practice meditation for 10 min a day- don't keep blank in your mind think about your strengths. This helped me, I go to brahmakumais org.
* You get 30 sec for an answer on an average, so prepare answers in brief like 1 or 2 sentences.
* Put all the docs in order. Use a plastic folder which has several partitions so that you can locate the particular quickly.
* Make a separate folder if possible for DS 156, DS157, I129,I797,Passport, HDFC bank receipt (yellow)- all this you have to show at the security and to the VO on meeting them.
* You may arrive at any time before your appointment but you will not be allowed to stand any where near the consulate compound wall so you may come 15 min before your time or stand at nearby bus stop.
* Get an umbrella if you are accompanied with someone, as there is no shelter (outside the consulate compound).
* Have some tiffin/ lunch. Don't go empty stomach as it may take around 2 hrs for your turn.
* Just give straight answers, don't argue with vo.
* Even though the vo may sometimes look serious, give affirmative answers which speaks of your confidence.
* Maintain good body language - don't be stiff but lean a little forward to show respect to the vo.
- don't rest your elbows on the desk while you are before vo.
* Keep good eye contact with the vo.
* Don't rate any vo by seeing/ hearing them. Just be yourself and give answers lucidly.
* Practice by imagining that you are before vo. Don't prepare too long or technical answers, just
summary and some details if only asked.
* Do not give any extra answers, just answer what is asked only.
* As you know don't take any electronic gadgets.
* Don't compare with anybody in the consulate, just be yourself and the Visa is yours.
I attended the counseling at chennai recently. After 2 hrs in the consulate my chance came.
me: submitted DS156, DS157,I129,I797,Passport, HDFC bank yellow receipt.
vo: typed something and there was a long gap of 1 min. Asked current company name and role in US
company.
me: Current company xxx. Role in US company xx.
vo: typed something, again a gap of 1 min. Asked for marks sheet of highest degree and all
educational docs.
me: gave all educational docs with degree marks sheet.
vo: verified and gave me back. Asked for US company unemployment report, photos, lease agreement.
me: All docs were handy in the folder so gave them all.
vo: Since we require to verify the US company history, we need additional processing. Gave 221(g)and told, we will definitely give the result but I cannot assure you you passport will get visa or not. The processing may take 1 week time.
me: Was listening to him with a smile. Took the 221(g) and thanked the vo and left the place.
On the third day I got the visa stamped and couriered.

Urgent Help needed Reg DS-156
Hello All,
Am going to attened the Visa interview in singapore.
I have a doubt regarding DS-156.Last year i applied for visa and i atteneded in chennai at that time i got 221g stating Additional Administrative Process Requiered.After that i did't get any Replay My Employeer canceled the Pitition and he applied new Pitition for me again.Now i got my new(2007) papers.
My Doubt is in DS-156 we have a colum that your visa is Refused any time.
What should i need to write.
Please help me out.

Folks,
With no influenial relatives and contacts I had started my venture alone, however my morale got boosted after visiting this web site. This is really helpful.
Some tips.
1. Chennai is the most challengng consulate to get the US Visa. If possible avoid this.
2. Look very professional and be well dressed for the interview.
3. Confidence is the key.
4. Establish eye to eye contact with Visa officer and keep all your documents handy.
4. VISA Officers are very smart, with a quick look they will come to know about your confidence and authenticity.
5. Never argue with the VO.
6. Do not look desperate, believe me the VFS staff will be helpful to all the genuine looking candidates and they will prompt them.
7. Please carry an umbrella if you are visiting Chenai in raining season as there is no shelter in Chennai consulate.
8. Last but not the least, I had visited Chilkur Balaji and god fulfilled my wish.
All the best, USA is calling all honest, intelligent Indians.

Help Me Kunjal(gujrat)
I applied H1-B through a consultancy.Thay send all papers to me except client letter and project desc.
Now i asked about those both doc's, they r saying that they can't send those two doc's and by saying this they sent about 6 clients agreement papers and saying that these r enough to u.
can i say that i applied through a consultancy and may work for any of these clients and as of now i don't no the project.can i say it
please help me and reply as soon as possible

me: <vo checks something on system for 10 mins I was nervous for sometime. Then he finally spoke>
vo: Ok I grant your visa. you will get your passport in a week.
me: <Releived> thank you sir.
I sincerely thank IMMI for moral support that it gave me. I really felt so comfortable after reading this site. Thanks a LOT for this.
One advice to all...be confident and answer with clear and in an immperetive voice. If you blush or try to flatter VO, they will surely pick you out. They are very good and patient persons. They handle so many person a day still they will be nice to you. So be confident. Good Luck. God will surely help.

Correction to Visa Class in the Passport.

On my wife(Depenedent) passport, the Visa Class is printed as H1B.
How can i make a correction form H1B to H4?
We both attended the interview in Chennai, can i make the correction in any other country other then chennai?

Successfull H1/H4 Visa
Dear Friends,
Just wanted to share my experience with Visa stamping which was scheduled on 17-Nov-06 at 10:00 am in Mumbai Consulate.
Please make sure you do not carry anything else other than documents when you are entering Visa office otherwise you will have comeout again and again to keep things out and waste time.
I had gone with my wife and my son for the visa.
Here is the Q&A session with visa officer.
VO: Please come in.
Me: Good morning.
VO: Have you been living in US before?
Me: No.
VO: So your 1st time?
Me: Yes.
VO: What is the name of your current company.
ME : XYZ company.
VO: She passes me back my I-797 form and says I'll need to show this when I'm crossing US boaders.
Me: OK Mam.
VO: So what qualifies you to go to US?
Me : I have got X no. of years of experience in IT and I have got an offer from ABC company.
VO: So must be good company to work with then?
ME: Yes mam.
VO: she checks and scans DS forms of mine and my family and says all form looks ok.
VO: OK you are all set to go, your VISA has been issued and you will get your passport with stamping in 3 days.
ME: Thanks a lot and have a good day.
