Got H1B in mumbai on Nov. 1
hello friends,
First of all thanks for all the active members and the admin of this site. This site is really helpful.
I had my interview scheduled at 10:30 AM on Nov. 1 in Mumbai. I reached VFS at around 9:00 AM. I opt for the VFS lounge facility (by paying Rs. 150). They took the 10:30 AM appointment people at 10:50 AM. Bus reached there at around 11:05 AM.
Then I stood in the line for security check. There male visa seekers will have to remove their belt and take your watch out and your documents etc. The security officer (all indians) will ckeck your folder containing documents if you have hidden some pistol etc..kidding..he he :)
Female visa seekers will get checked by female security officers.
After your security check you would be getting a wooden-token (like a 6-inch scale) which you can put on ur shirt's pocket or elsewhere. That wooden token signifies that you went thru the security check. And you will have to return that token back to any security officer while leaving the premises.
After that you are required to go thru a metal detector door and then you can take your belt,wallet,documents etc. and go inside the main arena.
There you will asked to stand in another queue which will first take you to a counter where some officers(indians) will arrange your original Notice of Action,interview appointment letter,passport in a green-envelope. After that you will be asked to go for finger-printing. There after taking ur fingerprints you will be given a pink token having your "Token Number".
Then you can sit on the chair and wait for your turn.The VISA officers inside the open counters call either one token number at a time or 6-7 token numbers at a time.
Please pay attention coz the token numbers are called randomly. Your token number can be called anytime. There is no sequence funda.
Do not talk to anybody and pay attention to the token numbers called by the visa officers.
In case if you feel that your token number was called prev. and u didn't paid attention, then don't worry, the visa officer will call again, but I am not too sure if it happens everyday. So paying attention is really important.
My token number was called at around 12:30 PM.

VO: Have u been to US before?
Me: No
Vo: So why are you going to US?

I got h1b visa today at Delhi Embassy!!!
First of all big thanks to Immihelp and Adithya.
My interview appointment time is 10:30AM though i reached 8 AM there, initially security checking, they will check whether ur name is in today list or not and after that i stand in Queue, I given my figerprints( here i was little bit tention whether they accepted my interview there or not bcz in I-797 consuate name specified as Chennai, they didn't say anything). aftet that I enter inside, already there are some persons in Queue, I also stand there... after some time my turn came.than i went counter... following is the my interview procedure..
Me: Hi..Good Morning(.....with smile)
VO: good morning
Me: asked my pp and appointment leter and DS-156 and DS-157(already all these docs are pined at fingerprint counter)
VO: how did u get this job?
Me: answered
VO: has employer came India and took interview?
Me: answered
VO:did u get and letter from ur employer?
Me: I said yes, and given my offer letter
VO: he verified that and asked where r u working currently?
Me: answered
VO: how long have been working current company?
Me: answered
VO: What is ur designation in new company in USA?
Me: program analyst
VO: What is ur designation in present company ?
ME: SSE
VO: what is difference of SSE and PA and tell what u do in both designations?

my suggetion to everybody who is going to attend go with all correct documents and full confidence..
Confidence is the main important...
I knew everybody says this but that time will get tention automatically.. atleat we can do one thing to avoid tention...chat with persons who are standing in line at counter and motivate each other so that it will make some confidence... that's all friends.. all the best for everybody who all are attending interview in future!!!!

Original Vs Xerox
You can show xerox. When I asked, Do you want to see Original or Xerox, The offficer said, doesnt matter. But how ever, It you must be able to produce original for his ref, If he ask for it. So carry both Original and Xerox.

regarding to the showing of documents (original or xerox)
Friends i saw many people telling that we have to show the documents when the visa officer ask.is we have to show 'ORIGINALS' or 'ZEROX'.

Response to "Courier Delivery Time"
It is typically the next working day on all major cities. If you are in Chennai, you can go to VFS office at Cenatoph Road, Tenampet and collect it in person between 4-5PM. You need to carry your hdfc receipt and interview letter. You can track if your passport is available for pickup through vfs website or through the SMS service from your mobile. Typically your visa wil be available on the same day for pickup if not next working day evening.
