This is a fantastic thread. I m following it regularly for the past 6 months. It really helped a lot with respect to my reparation for h1.
Ok. I appeared for h1 on 30th. My slot was at 9.45. I reached there around 9.15 and allowed inside. After waiting for 30 minutes, I met one of the VFS guys at the counter who verified all the docs and put it in the green folder and asked me to go the next building.
I stood in first queue for 5 minutes for finger printing. Here they didnt ask any question. But they seems to ask questions here too. I have seen some candidates being asked to show lot of documents here itself.
Once I passed this, they put me back to the same queue again(There is one dedicated finger printing queue and two additional windows used for the same in case of long queue. these window otherwise process b1 visas and h1 visas.
The office asked me only few questions.
1. Show me your degree cert?
2. Were you working in US before?
3. Are you going to work inhouse or client( I gave the client letter at this point).
He approved my visa in two minutes.
Based on watching these thread for long, I belive It is not that Chennai they dont want to issue VISA, But they really want to issue to the right person.
From my view it depends
1. Yourself
a. Your qualitification(BE(CSE)/MCA might prove
adv)
b. Your experience(5+ may be)
c. Your current indian employer(US MNCs here in india)
d. Your previous US visits (b1s, l1s)
e. University (Andhra universities normally goes throuh additional scrutiny)
2. Your employer(US)
a. Their past record with INS/consulate
b. Their income, Number of employees &
Number of H1b employees. run by Indians!!! as mere body shop
e. and so on.
3. Your client(If any)
Same as above.
I think, If you are very strong, then you can makeup for even if your employer is not top in the list. (All the cases from my employer were rejected except two of us, both of us had very strong back ground indivdually). If you are week and if you employer and client is also week(which is true for almost 80% of cases), then comes this 221g and the infinite loop of back and forth.
This is just a view from me. I may be wrong.

Successful H1B stamping at chennai consulate on Oct 27, 2006
Hello Dear friends:
I got successful H1B stamping at chennai consulate on Oct 27.
I thank everyone who have shared their experiences and the website is of great help for me.
Consulate experience:
I had appointment at 10.30 AM. It was heavily raining in chennai.
I stayed at Hotel Palmgrove which is very close from consulate.
I reached consulate at 10.15 AM (just 15 min before scheduled time) and
at the security gate they asked for my passport & appointment letter.
After checking those, they allowed me inside for security check. Pls do
not carry mobile phones & any electronic goods and bags. Just carry
certificates folder.
After security check, VFS fellows took me to a counter where indian
ladies will verify
Passport, DS-156, DS-157, HDBC yellow receipt, DD for Rs.2400/-, I-797
(H1 Approval notice) and I-129 (H1 filing petition).
After verifying docs, she placed all docs in a green folder and handed
over to me and asked me to proceed to next building where interviews
will be held.
I went to the other buiding and stand in a queue for finger
prinitng.(both left & righ index fingers).
After that VFS guy asked me to wait at conter #4. And old lady was
taking interviews and she is giving visas to everyone whithout asking
for much details.
My turn came and the questions were like this:
1) When were u last time in US? (I went to US last yesr on B1 Visa)
2) Since how long u r working with present company?
3) What's is your end-client?
4) Describe Project on which you are going to work?
5) R u married? any children?
6) when u will take ur wife to US?
She told me that I will get passport delivered to my address within 3
working days.
FYI : No supporting documents were asked during interview

I also completed java course from Sun-Micros systems.
Me: Good after Noon.
VO: Good after Noon.
VO: Why don’t want to go US
Me: I said
VO: Show me your Mark list
Me: I handed over her.
VO: They asked about Current experience (4 years)

Me:Masters degree in computer science.

VO:..returned back..and gave me a small slip&said..If you have any problem with ur employer in US contact these links...(The slip contains some url and rules which are coming under US labour dept)..
Your passport will courier to ur address with in 3 days.

so my interview was very cool.May be my company is a well known in the industry and I was very cool and spoke loudly.
if u r working in a well known company you have to wear the id card and place ur visiting card in the file the gave.So he wil get a gud impression and everything wil be cool.
while waiting for the interview I heard so many questions ..they are asking a lot of questions to people who have coming from the companies which are not known to the VO.so if such people are going to attend interview will be prepared for all type of questions which we discussed in this site.
Even he didn't ask any documents other than my PG certificate and one more thing i want to inform u that there is nothing with the color of the file, they are giving.Today I closely observed that for H1 they are giving green,L1 --blue and for B1 --pink.
so be cool..confident and loud..

My suggestion to the people who are attending for the visas in the coming days is that please be prepared and have a good mock up and have all the documents handy that will really help a lot.
My Interview went this way:
I had my interview on 27th oct,I attended along with my wife and our visa got approved.
Following questions were asked:
1. What is your graduation?
2. Can i see all u r education certificates and experience letters?
3. How much of experince u hold?
4. What is the strength of the employer in US?
5. Where u r currently working and for how long?
6. My responsibilities in the current job and there at US?
To my Wife :
1. How long u r married mam?
2. U got kids?
Agaig to me:
1. To whom u will be working for?
2. what's is u r pay?
My interview was about 10-12 minutes,My advice is be confident and be well prepared dont get panic,they are very cool.Go easy and answer easy u will get through.

Date & time for H1b & H4
Hello Everyone
I took web appoinment interview date on 20-Nov-06 at 9:30 AM, due to non availability of my son passport i did not take appoinment for my wife & son, Now i got passport of my son and took date of both of them on the same date 20-nov-06. But timing is 8:10 AM morning, So We are confused how it possible that wife and son (H4) interview is arrange pripor to me (H1b). We want to go together on same day and time. For that what I have to do ?? If i reschedule of both appocation (one is mine and other is my wife & son) then is it possible to make all 3 appoinment in one group. i.e. Can I add wife & son application with my application while rescheduling? How to reschedule it ? Pl. provide me guidance as early as possible.
