Hi all,

Wanted to share my passport renewal experience here. I applied for a Normal Passport renewal service with the addition of Spouse Name only. Passport has left the CKGS facility and pending home delivery.

Overall timeline:
Oct 30th 2019 - Nov 11th 2019 (13-14 days delivery included)

Passport picked up by UPS.

Passport ‘Received’ at the CKGS application centre and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.

Hi, Can anybody confirm for me these two details?

1) If you have valid visa, did you need to submit I797 copy when renewing visa?
2) Did you self-attest copy of visa/I797 or did you need to get notary public? If notary, who did for you? I understand lots of places refuse to certify copy as true orginal.

I'm looking to get my passport renewed at San Francisco.

Hi there,
I have lost my passport at the Paris airport. Since I had a GC I was allowed to board my flight to us. Has anybody had this experience before ? Just panicked, right now.

The Consulate may request for further documents over and above those already submitted as per the Document Checklist.

Various experiences:

I didn’t expect the process to go so smooth.
I wanted to change Passport address in India.

Cancelling -New Application-linking (In case the CKGS and Govt Online form for Passport don’t match due to mistake).
First while filling the form I made mistake where in CKGS website I requested 36 pages and on Govt Passport Online form I requested 60 pages booklet. I had already linked both the forms. I thought it wouldn’t be an issue, but they charge you more for 60 pages and that’s why it needs to be same on both forms. I had to also issue a new money order because of the higher amount for 60 pages booklet.
Procedure: First you need to login to your CKGS application form. Have to find refund tab. Click it and this make your current application invalid or cancelled. The point to be noted is that this will also make you Govt Passport online form for NRI’s invalid and you can’t reuse the govt online application.
The cancelled Govt Passport Online form will still be seen in your account and that is fine.

You will need to create a new Govt Passport Online for NRI’s form and then link with new CKGS application form from the same account(login on Passport Seva should be same). DON’T CREATE NEW ACCOUNT ON GOVT PASSPORT WEBSITE.

New Money order must be made for 60page booklet.

The old money order you can but back to you endorse and deposit back to your account.

Address change of India: I wanted to change my address in passport from old Indian address –( the place doesn’t exist anymore as new bldg. have been built on that place) -- to new Indian address. From the documentation they required I only had Electricity Bill. The Address in India are too large to fit in, I removed some unwanted words from address and wrote a Cover latter stating the address on electricity Bill and what I want on my passport, so embassy understands it done with a purpose.
The reason I am writing about Indian address change is to address the myth that it is too cumbersome to change Indian address and generally people tend to give their residence address in US. Off course that is convenient way, but I had my reasons to make Indian address change.

I would like share my experience renewing my passport through CKGS, the process was so simple and fast. All we have to follow the proper guidelines and checklist instructions. My passport got renewed in 1 week (Normal process).

All my docs received by CKGS on 23rd Oct and got my new passport on 1st Nov.

The print option from government site has issues. It prints the first page on which the 2'x2" picture doesn't fit. The paste photo square is too small. I called CKGS and they said it should print 4 pages. In my case it printed just 3 pages. Though all the data was there. The government site should make sure the format of the page should provide enough space to paste the photo properly. Few of my friends also told this format issue and CKGS is unaware it. Anyone who renewed their passport in US had this issue?

 Has anyone applied for renewal at SAN FRANCISCO consulate? Want to know the processing time and my application says under process at consulate since Oct 22nd.

 Any help would be appreciated

I want to share my experience renewing my passport through CKGS at NY Consulate. Long story short, the process was super smooth and fast. The experience is great, no glitches and CKGS is doing a commendable job. My passport got renewed in 2 weeks' time including processing time at CKGS and delivery of the passport back to me. The timeline of my passport renewal is below:

10/04: 01:40 pm
Application ‘Received’ by CKGS and 'Not Verified'.

You will receive an E-mail advising you of the outcome of the verification process.

10/04: 03:14 pm
Application Verification is ‘Complete’. Processing of your application will continue.

10/07: 04:43 pm
Application is ‘Under Process’ at CKGS.

10/08: 09:27 am
Application is 'In Transit' to the Consulate.

10/08: 09:39 am
Application is 'Under Process' at Consulate for decision making.

10/17: 10:46 am
Application 'Reviewed' by Consulate and ‘In Transit’ to CKGS Application Centre.

Has any one applied for Expedite Visa and renunciation of Indian Passport ..within how many days do we get our Visa and renunciation done

I have called CKGS Passport center - they suggested to write Spouse full name on a white page self attest and send back to CGKS center. Sent them TODAY.

I will this impact processing time. Please advise..
