May 22nd – Submitted my DOB change application at CKGS after approval of consulate general of India at Atlanta.
May 23rd – Status was showing under review at Embassy in CKGS website... BTW you can check your status on this https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/statusTracker/trackStatusInpNew website as well which obviously did not know till July 2019.
Your file number is listed on the back of your passport…

June 25th – Emailed Consulate general of India to inquire about my status… They said, your application is sent for clearance at RPO Ahmedabad, as soon as we received positive reply, we will issue your passport...
Waited one more month and then lost my patience…
July 22nd – Called RPO office at Ahmedabad to inquire about my status… I was lucky they picked up my phone after substantial number of calls... They hardly do… The answer was “Your application has just arrive at my desk”
July 24th – They sent request to Vadodara Municipal Corporation department of birth, death and marriage registration for my birth certificate verification.
July 25th – They sent notification to Police Superintendent for my police verification… (I did not understand why they did PV)
July 28th – Police verification was done with my father in india…
July 30th – My father approached Vadodara municipal corporation department..
August 12th --- RPO could see PV and BC verification in their system..
Between August 12th – September 3rd - Everytime we went to office they told us , that we have already notified Atlanta office… But in reality they never did…
Then I got so frustrated and open up RTI , and by September 9th , I received my passport…
Tips:-
• Once your passport application is at consulate, follow up with them and ask the status… They are very responsive and professional.
• If your passport has been sent for clearance in India, follow up with RPO ASAP… They will not touch your file until you remind them at the RPO at Ahmedabad….

I submitted my passport renewal normal process with spouse name addition and change of appearance.It took me only 5 days in CKGS NYC.

5-Aug: I went and submitted the application in person to CKGS center NY.I booked 9 am appointment and i was the second person in the hall...The token should be taken once you enter the office on the left side black machine.they will call you by token number. Submitting it was over within 10 minutes I came out but 9:15am

5-Aug: your Application is now ‘Under Process’ at CKGS
6-Aug: Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the CKGS Application Center and 'In Transit' to the Consulate for decision making
6-Aug: Your Application is ‘Under Process’ at the Consulate.
8-Aug: Your Application has left the Consulate and is ‘In Transit’ to the CKGS Application Center
8-Aug: Your application with your Passport has 'Returned' to the CKGS application Center and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.
8-Aug: Your Passport has been picked up by FedEx
9-Aug: Passport was delivered by the evening.

Attach all the documents in the checklist given to you the CKGS website and self attest whichever is necessary.

Docs for adding spouse name:
applicant self attested copy of marriage certificate.
applicant self attested copy of spouse passport copy.(not necessarily mentioned but it is better to add it)

TD bank will Notarize for free.They are available even weekends which was helpful for my case.

Hello:

I'm having a tough time with renewing my passport. I applied for a renewal of my Indian passport. I got married to my US citizen wife in the past year and have a marriage-based greencard. In my application, I am required to add my wife's name as a result.

Context: My wife has changed her last name to match mine since the wedding.

In my application forms (both CGKS and the NRI online form), I have put her new name (the name that is also on all formal documents now). In our marriage certificate of course, we have her old name (since she changed it later).

I anticipated the documents CKGS would require and supplied both the marriage certificate AND the government certified Change of Name form showing both her old and new names. For good measure, I also included a letter explaining what these documents were for.

Today I received a notice saying my application is rejected since "Spouse name on NRI Application form does not match spouse name in previous passport OR marriage certificate." What? I've provided the only documentation I can possibly provide showing that her name on the certificate changed after the marriage.

They are sending the documents back without letting me explain anything. Did they even see that Change of Name document? I don't know.

What should I do? Can I have them hold onto the documents? Will they charge me again for another round of applications? I can only provide the same documents next time.

Can I go to San Francisco and do this in person instead of by mail?

I would appreciate your suggestions.

I have applied for passport renewal (Normal Process) with Change of Appearance/Signature on 07/15/2019 and received a new passport today. It took a total of 7 days to receive the passport in hand if it wasn't for week-end in between it would have been 5 days only. I followed the document checklist on CKGS portal and made sure everything was in place as per the specifications provided and shipped it through UPS.

Below is my timeline for passport renewal.

Jul 22, 2019 - Passport delivered by UPS.

Jul 19, 2019 - Passport picked up by UPS.

Jul 19, 2019 - Passport ‘Received’ at the CKGS application center and is at the ‘Sorting Facility’ where it is being processed for delivery.

Jul 19, 2019 - Application 'Reviewed' by Consulate and ‘In Transit’ to CKGS Application Centre.
 
Jul 17, 2019 - Application is 'Under Process' at Consulate for decision making.

Hello,

My mother’s date of birth is incorrect in her passport. When I compare it with my date of birth it’s only 12yrs gap but that’s not true. I realized this when I was filling DS-160.

There are only 2 options to correct it. 1. Get DOB certificate and 2. Cancel passport in the Court with correct evidence. She doesn’t have date of birth certificate and now we can’t get it because she is 50+. I spoke with few lawyers in HYD but they said they can’t do it.

Should I apply for visiting visa ? Any suggestions ?

I’m married and my husband has a GC. Will she get the visiting visa without any issues if my husband?
