I had appeared for new L1-B visa interview on 29th March at Chennai. Here is my experience.

Questions:
1. Which company do you work?
2. What is your USA salary?
3. What is your Designation(both locations)?
4. In which city are you going to work at USA?
5. What project do you work?
6. Since how long are you in this company?

Then he approved my Visa and kept my passport.

L1B to H1B Conversion !!!
Hi I am working with L1B visa now. I have filed for H1B this year as my current employer was not ready for L1A/GC. Now they are saying to apply for L1A and then GC. What will happen if H1B is picked in lottery this year? I want to continue with L1B with my current employer. Do not need H1B.

L1B interview at Calgary
Hi All,

I have a question regarding the fees.
As per my knowledge, the L1b blanket fees is Fraud Detection $500 and $4500 Visa fees.
But my employer is saying that since they have more than 50 employees and 50% or more are green card holders or citizen they don't have to pay $4500.
Is this information correct? Please help me with this.

L1A (Individual) Chennai - 221g Blue slip : Finally approved
Hi All,

First of all, Thanks to the forum which gave me lots of information and helped me to prepare the documents and for the interview.

I applied L1A Blanket in 2017 and had my interview on July 2017. It was denied stating 'Not clearly approvable' and he mentioned that i have to apply in different category. No 221g yellow / blue slip given.

Then my petitioner applied L1A Individual and it was taking months time. And finally the interview was scheduled for 12th and 13th Feb.

Biometric and the other formalities at Consulate went very normal as others mentioned. So it would be repeative information if i mention it here.
As i have gone with my family - spouse and 4 yr kid, we didnt wait in any of the queue, and all happened very quickly. Hardly we would have been there for 20-25 mins inside the premises. In such case, it won't give much time to get tensed or think about anything !

Moving on to the interview questions directly for everyone's benefit.

Me : Good morning Sir
VO : Good morning.

VO : Can i have the passports
Me : Sure (Handed over the passports).

After he scanned....

VO : Hmm... Some time last year, i rejected your case. Are you applying under different category now ?
Me : yes - Applying for L1A Individual

VO : Can i have the petition and other documents ?
Me : Sure (Handed over the petition and I-129)

VO : Whats your work location ?
Me : YYYY YYYY , XX

VO : Whom do you work for ?
Me : ZZZ

VO : Who's your client ?
Me : ZZZ

VO : How much salary you will be getting ?
Me : XX,ZZZ

VO : How many direct reportees in US ?
Me : X

He was working on something in the system, and it took couple of minutes.

Then finally he took 221g (blue) form....

VO : Your case is put on hold for Administrative processing, and will update you. (He handed over the form, and I129, keeping the passports and I797 with him)
Me : ok, Thank you.

I was totally upset and no questions were asked to my spouse / kid.
It was my bad that i have gone to the same VO officer who rejected my L1A Blanket appearance. With all my efforts went on vein, returned back to home.

I kept on checking the status in the ceac site. But i couldnt find the case number available, which was mentioned in 221g. Thought that it will be updated over night.
Later that day i checked with my application id, and the status appeared as 'Administrative Processing' (while the case number was still not available).

And it still appeared as the same till 14th Feb afternoon. When i checked the status by the evening, it was changed to ISSUED.
Tracked the passports and collected on 16th morning (with very minimal confidence though).

With God's grace, finally got the passports with visa stamped !! Administrative processing hardly took one additional day to get things cleared.

Hope, Confidence and Patience are the key factors, especially when awaiting for the results which we don't have control at all.

Good luck to you all.

L1B (Individual) Mumbai - Yellow slip 221g Pending status
Hi All,

My L1B (Individual) visa interview was yesterday on the 22nd of March 2018. Everything went fine (VO asked general questions), as in , I responded to all the questions to the best of my knowledge. At the end of the interview the officer handed me a 221g Yellow handout and asked to submit documents (list mentioned below) via email in pdf format.
VO returned my passport and said that after submission of documents i will make my decision and you will be contacted and requested to submit your passport.

The yellow slip is as below;

Dear Visa Applicant:
Your application for nonimmigrant visa has been placed in a PENDING STATUS Per Section 221g of US INA. Regarding your petition, please e-mail PDF copies of all check marked documents below to YYYY email address.Do not submit any physical document. Only the items checked below apply to your case.

Documents from me: 1) 3 years pay stubs and bank statement (Feb 2015 to Feb 2018)------VO asked me question from how long you are working with this company - I answered 3+ Years.

Documents from petitioner: 1) Petition copy and I-129 copy.
                                            2) A detailed description of the project which you will be assigned. Include a complete technical description of the project, employer, timeline, current status, number of employees assigned, worksite location, and marketing analysis for the final product.

Anybody in same situation? There isn't any case 221g - pending status for L1B (individual) on immihelp.

I am worried as VO returned my passport.

How much time it will take after submission of documents?

Thanks.

L1B individual approved after blanket rejection - Part 2
Hi,

Following to this thread - https://www.immihelp.com/experience/289262-L1B-individual-approved-after-Blanket-rejection.html

I was deeply saddened by the fact that my visa got rejected. It suddenly looked at of the world. For a week we have declared mourning days.

Here is the brief summary of the events.

Nov 13th - Blanket Visa rejected

Nov 13th Discussion with lawyers about filing individual petition. - My immigration lawyer was confident to get my L1B individual approved.

Nov 29th - Petition filed with USCIS

Dec 12th - RFE received with almost all the questions. (Why? - see below for my view)

Dec 13th - Jan 2nd - nothing moved on because of holidays, partying in US.

Jan 2nd - Attorney prepared RFE response and sent for my review.

Jan 9th - I have replied back with necessary edits along with my training certificates, pay slips, org charts, performance review sheets, appreciation mails and everything which i feel makes sense.

Jan 19th - RFE response received by USCIS

an 29th - Received approval from USCIS.

Now, let me explain my view about why my RFE is long. While filing the petition, lawyers took defensive approach by filing with minimal documentation. When RFE received, their response is full blown. It is hard to reject the case by reading the response. They also focus on -
Why you?
why not others?
why can't the role be filled by hiring in US?

Feb 10th - Received hard copy of the approval notice

Feb 15th - Visa date in Hyderabad.
What is your job?,
Which team are you going to work?
what is US salary?
Head office or client location?

Nov 13th to Feb 15th - what an emotional ride it was.

He waited for approval notice to be pop up in his system and said that we are good to go.

March 8th - Traveled with family (Wife + Kid) to US.

Slowly getting adjusted in US.

Good luck to you all.

L1A Extension - Vancouver
I was in this situation where I have a L1-A expiring in April 2018, GC EAD valid till Jan 2019, but no I-140 approval yet (NBC takes up to 14 months to approve). Company asked me to go out of the country and get L1-A extended. They said this was a backup in case the I-140 gets rejected. They suggested this was better than applying to USCIS through post. Apparently, if one goes outside the country and applies at a consulate and the visa is rejected, we can still come back into the US (as long as visa is valid) and still try the postal route.

In my case, they suggested that I go to Canada. So I did. I went with my wife and kids (all on L2, with GC EAD). And it worked out well. I just completed my visa interview on 03/15 and should receive my visa on 03/19 ( shipment enroute). VO hardly asked any questions.

Questions:

VO: Is this an L1 extension?
Me: Yes

VO: What’s do you do?
Me: I work as a xxxx at xxxx.

VO: How long have you been with the company?
Me: Since 2010, first in country x and since 2015 in the US

VO: I see you are a permanent resident of xxxx (another country apart from country of citizenship)
Me: Yes

VO: And your company has applied for your green card.
Me: Yes, and I have my EAD document.

VO: (hands over a pamphlet) here are your labor rights in the US. Your visas are approved. You should get it back in 3-5 days.
Me: Thank you

And we walked away. Status changed to “issued” on 03/16/18 and got a message from carrier on the same day that I can expect to collect passport on 03/19.

PS- I carried a ton of paperwork including original mark sheets, offer letters, pay slips, ban statements, marriage and birth certificates. They didn’t ask for anything.
