L1A (Blanket) Approved on 28th Dec
Hi Friends,
Though its quite late but I still want to share my visa interview experience with you all, so that it may help someone.
My case was L1B to L1A conversion, my company attorney filled the new petition for L1A Blanket.
I scheduled my interview on 28th Dec and traveled with Family from US to Chennai to attend this interview, though I heard lot of experiences where Blanket petitions were straight forward getting rejected, I was scared if its get rejected I would get stuck with family, my kids leave schools in mid session and lot and lot of worries...
With lot of worries in mind, I arrived with family on VAC 45 mins before, payed my FD fee $500 by cash, arranged all the documents I129S, 797 in order made 3 sets of them and stand in the queue of one window.
Here are the questions of VO and my Answers:-
1) Me : Good Morning officer.
VO:Good Morning
2) VO: Your petition is for L1B or L1A ?
Me: its L1A, basically transfer from L1B to L1A
3)VO: Where you are working in US?
Me: I am working in Company Headquarters in CA
4) VO: How long you are working in this company?
me: 11 Years
5) What is your role?
Me: I work as functional manager and handling multiple projects worth of $xxx K of million $ customers.
6) VO: Please name some of your customers?
Me; A,B..C
7) VO: Do you have any direct reportee ?
Me: No, I work as functional manager where I do not have any direct reportee but I do have 6 indirect reportees which includes 1 manager and 5 Sr engineers.
8) VO: I have never seen such structure where you have indirect reportees but no direct one.
I just smiled and said that this is how my company org structure is defined and I handed over my organization chart to VO.
9) VO to my husband: Sir, when you got married and where are you planning to celebrate your anniversary
My husband replied and said if every thing goes well, we will celebrate in Vegas :)
We all smiled and VO said those golden words that my visa is approved.
I think what helped me was 1) My Confidence and 2) $$ amount of my projects.
wishing you allvery success in coming interviews.

L1A blanket extension approved
Hello - I had my visa appointment recently and my L1A visa extension (which is the same process as regular L1A) and I would like to share my experience as others have been gracious enough to share theirs.

> Please have all paperwork checked thoroughly. I know lawyers create the I 129S and petitions but there could still be errors so make sure for yourself everything is correct before booking your appointment date. If your paperwork is complete and right and consistent you will automatically feel confident. make sure what you have across documents is simple and understandable and consistent.
> I took my appointment at the US embassy in London.
> Entered. Passed through security. I was the 2nd person in line. I was immediately called to have my papers checked. I had a LOT of paper work. 4-5 huge bundles properly labeled by sections (I am generally a detail oriented person so knowing that I had EVERYTHING I could possibly need helped me get confidence :)) . I took everything I could think of and was advised by my lawyers and immigration team. I took the following:
 > DS 160 Confirmation and appointment letter
 > 3 copies of I 129S and I 797 and petition
 > Org chart
 > My last 6 month payslips
 > My US tax returns (state and federal) and W-2
 > Passport copy, current visa copy (My current L1A is still valid)
 > Last 6 month bank statements
> All my previous passports
> Letter from my company
> credit card - to pay $500 fee

> The person at the window asked for my passport, confirmation page, appointment letter and 2 copies of my I129S and I 797 and asked me to go pay the $500 fraud fee which I paid through my corporate CC.

> After that I went back to the paperwork window, where the person then verified payment by me and handed me the documents in a folder to give to the person who calls me for appointment.

> I was called in less than a minute. The lady was really nice. She asked if I worked for the same company, how long I worked for them, whether my L1A is still valid and my title. After these 4 questions, she stamped my I 129S and said you will receive passport in 3-5 business days.

Good luck to everyone, I know the process can make one anxious. Again, I think having accurate and correct documents is important so please do not underestimate that even if you feel something might not be checked it is always better to carry everything and in order than to not.

Thank you everyone for all their help on this forum!

L1B individual premium processing after L1B blanket rejection.
My L1B blanket was rejected on 26th December 2017 with reason Not clearly approvable. After talking attorney they said, they are preparing for L1B individual. And filed the petition on 12 Jan 2018. But USCIS website shows they received it on 17 Jan 2018.
I have heard, usually it takes about a week to either get RFE or approval, but in my case its more than week and it still shows as received.
Does this mean that I still have same chances of getting approval Or things are turning negative now?

Any help on this?

L1A Individual Approved - Chennai
Attended interview at Chennai for L1A Individual along with family and was approved. This was my fifth interview and except for once (L1A Blanket), all other visas were approved. I prepared as usual and went through my document few time 2 days before the interview and on the day for the interview.

Interview Day - Since I had a 2 year old daughter, I bypassed all the queues and went straight in front of the Officer -

Me and Family - Good Morning
Officer - Good Morning, give me all the passports and give a minute to finish the previous application.

After a couple of mins -

Officer - How many kids do you have
Me - 2 Kids

Then surprisingly he said the questions are for you Madam (to my wife)

1. Will you work in US
2. What is your highest qualification
3. Are you working now
4. Do you know what your Husband does

After this the office turned towards me and said, remaining questions are for you Sir

1. What do you Do
2. Is it a IT based Project
3. How long in this company
4. How many people are you going to manage
5. How long do you intend to Stay
6. Have stayed in US before
7. What was the status in US and duration of your stay in US
8. How many such projects have you managed before

Then he went on typing on his computer for around 3-4 mins and then took a rubber band, tied all the passports and kept it in a tray. I knew the visa is approved, but even after that he took around 3-4 mins to say that visa is approved.

Regards

L1A individual approved London
Hi,

I wanted to share my experience as this site has helped me so much.

I went to the new Embassy in Nine Elms and took the tube to Vauxhall and walked as its easier, about a 10 minute walk and easy to locate the Embassy as its clearly sign posted, theres a Waitrose round the corner where you can have a coffee if your'e early.

You queue to get in the Embassy and they checked my DS-160 and passport and then you go through airport style security and walk into the Embassy where they scan the DS-160 and give you a number on a sticker which they stick on the DS-160, this is your appointment number.

You go up to the first floor and wait in a large modern seating area where there are screens every where showing the appointment numbers, when yours shows up (it doesnt take long) the number also appears above the booth window.

The booth is a little open sound proof booth so no-one can hear what the guy/lady is saying to you which helps as i didnt want to hear other interview experiences.

I needed a current photograph of myself as the one i took was a year old, no problem though as there are two photobooths in the waiting area and they take debit and credit cards as well as cash

After i visited the first booth the man asked me for my documents and typed a bit, asked for my i-797 and i said i had an i-797C and the original, he said i dont know why your attorney sent the C version and then put everything into a folder for me and told me to go to the other end of the waiting area and wait for my number to be called to see the American consulate, it was the same style booth and it took around 2 minutes to be seen, the American consulate took my folder and typed a little as he asked the questions.

The questions asked where:

What is your job title?
What is the name of your company?
What do they do, as ive never heard of them? - I explained the company and product breifly
What is that product? - I explained breifly

It was more of a chat that an interview and very relaxed, the anxiety of the interview was far worse than the interview itself and both staff members i saw were very relaxed and professional

He then said 'your passport will be returned within a week'

It was very straight forward and vert well organised, hope this helps someone else.

L1B under Blanket and L2 Approved at Chennai
Hi,

Thanks to the community for providing valuable information that helped throughout the process.

OFC: 2nd Jan 2018, 0800
Reached OFC 0800 and went inside directly. My Kid and My Wife were asked to go separately. We were out by 0830. Went back to the hotel.

Visa Interview: 2nd Jan 2018, 1100
Reached Consulate 10:30 and were asked to wait outside. 1100 we were allowed to go inside. After security check, there is a separate Desk for L1 Blanket. Here we were asked to arrange our documents. Post that was allowed to go inside. You enter a big hall from there. We were sent to a counter to pay the Fraud detection fee. I paid it by Corporate Card and it was fine to pay either by DD, Cash or Card. Then on the next counter, the verify your documents again and send to another counter to verify all applicants Biometric. Then we were directly asked to go to a counter for the interview without any wait while there was a long queue. We greeted the VO officer. Questions were as following:

VO: You're applying for L1B?
Me: Yes

VO: YYYY Technologies, Inc.?
Me: Yes

VO: Out of this interview; How is YYYY doing?
Me: Told her about our business.

VO: What are challenges for 2018
Me: Told her about some top priorities.

Then she started typing and continued for a while. Meanwhile my kid was looking in to adajacent counter and she turned to him and asked him do you want to say hi to my colleague? He said yes and she laughed. Back to me:

VO: What would be your salary?
Me: YYYY thousand dollars and performance linked bonus?

VO: Did you mean ZZZ?
Me: Yes

She again started typing. Then she got down her chair arranged all the documents and started stamping. Then she again asked:

VO: What do you do at YYYY ?
Me: Two sentences on my work and Two sentences on the product that I've built.

VO: You guys can leave now and you'd get your passports in a weeks time.
Me: Thanks a lot.

Overall experience was great. I think the Company brand and High base salary helped me in not being questioned at all. The one advice that helped me a lot was being confident. I was confident and my case backed me with it.

No questions to my Kid or Wife. We received our passport one day later.

One thing which was strange is the DS-160 status on 02 Jan night was Administrative Processing. On 03rd it changed to Issued and 04th I collected my passport. So if you see Administrative Processing that just means processing.
